PDI Clubs over the years....
Jump to: Newest in thread
Having just spent some 30 mins typing this out, only to see the original thread deleted... thought we would post the below from our long time point of view - (if only to be read & deleted)
Only just seen this thread, and wanted to offer our experience from a 'very' long time visitors to the Island & PDI.
We could write a book here, so bear with..
We have been going to Gran Canaria and staying in and around PDI since 2007 - at this point we did not even realise there was a swinging scene in PDI...
We were there even before Fun4all existed (we first met Richard & Angelique 3 weeks before they opened the club...) we have seen so many places / Owners come & go - we have seen at least 3 different owners in ComeBack bar for example etc etc etc
We have been back every year since 2008 - some times maybe just once - other times (including in the pandemic times) we have spent upto 12 weeks there in one year... we have stayed at multiple places - from the mainstream hotels (really fun when we used to traipse back in at 4am in the morning semi naked - night reception used to love seeing us), have stayed at La Mirage numerous occasions (old & new) and now prefer private villas...
Clubs are our preferred thing - its what we love in the UK and therefore have probably experienced pretty much every place in PDI at least once over the years..
From our point of view - we have seen times when there were only a small numbers of clubs - so of course, they were much busier, to points when clubs were in double figures, so naturally we were more spread out and some nights were very quiet.. obviously from a business point of view, no or very few customers over a long period of time means no / low income and is simple not viable, therefore closure can be inevitable.. a few close, then the remaining get busy and so it goes around again - more open etc etc..
This has not personally bothered us as we still love visiting the place, have made some amazing friends from all over europe whom we still see year after year. We make the most of out time over there and tend to be out pretty much everynight.
For us its not about how busy a place is, it more about the level of service, friendliness of staff etc , facilities, cleanliness and if we feel comfortable / sexy being in that surrounding..
Anyone that has met us will know Mrs2for can talk for England and will often tell anecdotes of various clubs we have been to in UK & abroad and our experiences..
One of which was a visit to a well know club in the Midlands - can hold 500 people - have been there on a Saturday when capacity had been reached by 10.30 pm - we have also been in the same club on a Weds night with just 10 people in the place - which was the best night (that we still remember now years later?) - the Weds night - we all just got on with it & mingled / chatted / played as it was just so surreal - it was brilliant.. Sat night was too busy, could not get to bar / no playrooms etc etc
We still love Gran Canaria & PDI - we often say that we expect to start getting bored of it, but being honest - for us it still keeps getting better..
It really is the people that make any place... we have introduced many newbies to the clubs in GC (the basement can be a little daunting first time you go) and will continue to do so..
We all have our favorite places and not so favourite, but we love trying the new bars / clubs and will give each one a visit when we are there - some we return to, others perhaps not - but at least we have tried and seen for ourselves...
Sorry for the long post, but hope that is what the original OP was after..

Let's hope for more focus this time lol
We've been going since 1987 and surprisingly PDI hasn't really changed much but Maspalomas, Porto Rico etc have exploded
We didn't start going to clubs until about 10 years ago and there are very few we would say we don't like, there are nights we avoid certain clubs and nights we love in some clubs (mostly couples nights)
We don't like meeting single guys in clubs we prefer if we want to meet in a bar and maybe go to a club but primarily we like to meet couples .
There's quiet clubs, busy clubs and hectic clubs like secrets and we love being able to choose between them depending on our mood.
We have also many friends who visit around the same time, some who live there and some owners .. not just one club but we count the owners of at least 5 establishments as friends.
In march we were surprised how much fun we had in Route69 even on nights when it was quiet which goes to show you don't need packed clubs to have fun. We do love sexy got tub adventures though
The only way to find out what you like is try them all.
We go to secret once per holiday just for the atmosphere, we love it but couldn't take it more than once or maybe twice a week lol |

Great write up. Sorry to hear the lost work. It has happened to me many times. Very frustrating. Hopefully you captured most of the content.
We concur. In terms of the canaries, we haven’t ventured to the others bar Tenerife. We like to keep the family holidays there, and then GC for adult time.
We did a write up in the past where we included clubs and the evolution, such as Tu y Yo, Venus and Full Swap, to name a few.
However, love a bit of nostalgia from the OGs.
Roll on October! |

I’m a sponge for information that doesn’t add any value to my life.
If it’s work related information, then it’s sadly in and out my ear.
Now then, did you know Penguins have knees? |

Zurich. NOT London. |
We have seen some massive changes over the last decade. We now have far more choice with bars and clubs, giving somewhere to suit most tastes.
The way we use PDI has also changed, years ago when we were in PDI itself in a vanilla hotel or apartment, we would be out every night in the bars and clubs. As we now stay at Venus Star several times a year, we don't feel the need to be clubbing every night, and with play during the day and the excellent restaurant at Venus in the evening, a couple of couples and a jacuzzi, we have everything we need without leaving the premises.
We do still go out and have our favourite haunts in both Cita and Nilo, but it's not every night.
PDI has changed, but I believe the bars and clubs that have the consistently high standards of customer service will survive, others won't. Its great to see the improvements that the bars have made over the years, and it's nice to have the choices we now have. Long may it continue. |

A well written review.
These guys are one of the lovely couples we've met in PDI.
Sadly our times on the island don't match this time but we'll see you in a few weeks xxx |

As messaged in PM yes, exactly what we wanted/expected from our original post, which was, as usual, hijacked by those that can't help themselves. |
