Just been looking at flights from Newcastle to GC for the holiday period. Unfortunately they've got to such a level that we'll miss Christmas and New year in the sun. We are looking at end of January now and prices are at a quarter of the Christmas prices. Fuel and other rises have definitely hit the tourism sector. I'm getting a flight home from Turkey end of October, €700 one way single with Jet2. Methinks that's the end of cheap travel. |

You may find a drop in price closer to the dates.
Ryanair have cancelled.. then put back on.. and then cancelled flights for LPA from Manchester on 24th Dec.
We have seen an increase in £ but everything has gone up.

I think it'll be a while before cheap flights return...from what Michael O'Leary said, a lot of airlines purchase fuel on quite long term, fixed price deals, so the full impact of the rising fuel costs has yet to be seen. On the other hand, higher prices means less people flying, so maybe the airlines will be forced to absorb some of the increases? |
