We stayed at Venus for the last 10 days all through the bad rain when we woke the next morning the bedroom floor was flooded went down to reception as was assured it would be sorted. 2days later man on the roof of our bungalow god only knows what he was doing but made it completely worse bedroom now flooded with dirty brown water.
Again went down to reception and asked to speak to Manuela but she was far to busy entertaining her German customers when I finally got to speak to her she made us feel like second class citizens and when I asked for compensation she went through the roof. She then said I had 2 options I could either move to a bungalow 2 rows further back so in fact a downgrade or I could back me bags and leave. With her attitude we took the second option and left never to return.
I know that the rain was a freak storm but if the maintenance was up to date it wouldn’t have mattered. We had towels down by every door as the water was coming in and the rest of the week we had work men sawing grinding and just making a hell of a noise. Be warned if you want to be treated like shit please book with Venus if you want a decent holiday book anywhere else |

We're here now for our third visit and the second this year.
We have had the same friendly experience we have always received and apart from a maintenance issue with the jacuzzi we've had no issues so far.
Wont hesitate to rebook again for next year. |

A very frank and honest review of your experience..... it's too easy to post positive reviews when there are no problems but the most revealing reviews are of how things are dealt with when there are problems. It shows the true character and values of venues and their staff/owners and prepares others for what to expect if there are problems. |

Yep, you're absolutely correct about how a problem is dealt with shows the character of the place.
We had an issue back in July with a blocked drain in the shower of our suite. Maintenance came straight out, and it was believed fixed, the following day the same issue, plumber was called and I believe something called 'a mole' was used to clear the blockage. Apologies from Staff and management and a bottle of champagne to say sorry. No complaints from us.
We'll be back there at Christmas, Can't wait! |

We had a problem with our jacuzzi, it overdosed the chlorine and it resulted in Victoria suffering from burns that ruined 3 days of our holiday, they came out and fixed it the next day, but Victoria was unable to use it, no compensation offered other than a bottle of Prosecco that was reduced in price anyway, we love the place, but for sure, complaints do not go down well with the management, we still try to book if there’s availability but it doesn’t bother us as much now if we don’t get in, day trips will suffice especially as hotels with naked terraces are becoming more popular |

Hi all.
Just to finalise this topic we have just returned from a great week in PDI staying at Venus. Hopefully the incidents mentioned earlier in this post are isolated and rare. We did note that maintenance was ongoing on the roof of one block of bungalows (maybe related to previously mentioned flooding). This was our first visit there and we will look to book Venus Star again when we return to PDI next year. |

This doesn't surprise us, been twice to the old and new Venus and both times customer service was a little abrupt.
Seems that there is usually availability at this resort whereas the cheaper (and more popular) La Mirage resort is nearly always fully booked.
Says a lot! |

We have stayed at Venus 3 times and the first 2 we’re ok yes the maintenance leaves a lot to be desired but should you need to complain that’s when things change.
The manager’s attitude sucks she couldn’t give a f##k take it or leave we left. As stated above we have stayed at Mirage 6 times and never had a problem and Wendy and Mary-Kate couldn’t be more helpful so know our choice from now on |

Agreed. It’s always easy to praise but a challenge to criticise when there’s low to no standards to moderate by, as we have found.
No understanding of the meaning of critique but I thank you for sharing your experience. I know many praise the place, and justifyingly (if that’s a word) so. But it’s nice to get a balance of opinion and review in a more intimate place, such as a forum, in the same way we may use some of the typical sites for selecting somewhere to eat, visit, and of course stay.
I hope this thread continues with both positive and not so positive experiences. Though I do wonder whether there’s more longevity in a pointless, going on racist thread about old Chinese men, than excellent useful content.

Always good to see others giving their opinion.
We are just about to end our 12th visit to Venus and already booked for March. Apart from one incident a couple of years ago when someone had a run in with a staff member, we have never heard or read of issues until now. Quite interesting when you consider that there have been thousands that have stayed there since it opened and returned.
We wouldn’t stay anywhere else. |

We have just returned.
Had a bit of a problem on the last day trying to pay our bill via Apple Pay / contactless.
( our banks stopped transactions due to too many attempts)
The staff could not have been more helpful!
In the end the owner did a personal bank transfer for us .
Excellent service.
Our accommodation was better than most self catering we have had before.
Food at the restaurant was great quality for prices they charge.
Drinks cheap enough and 2 hours of happy hour!
All in all , a great 5 nights away .
... or was that just because we were having sex for 50% of the day ! |

Stayed at the new venus about 8 times now and never had a problem, stayed in all the different room types also, we have to remember it's not 5 stars but if you want a lifestyle holiday it's great fun,we combine this with cycling, only problem we had was a bad accident about 3 years ago we both broke collar bone the staff couldn't have been more helpful, also the food from the restaurant was better than we expected, so take it for what it is and enjoy the fun, were back on 10th December. |

We are planning a 'weekender' in Jan, having enjoyed ourselves on a day trip in October.
Only Thurs Mon but will be long weekend with a few distractions!
What time does the restaurant close on a typical day out of interest? |

9 pm latest for the restaurant.
They normally have a special of the day from 7pm onwards.
The happy hour pool bar and hot tub stays busy right up to 8 pm , so tricky not to get carried away and miss the restaurant!
