I guess we’ll be carrying some booze along the beach then. Can’t relax on a sunbed without a Tropical!

Haven't been since June. But know about them still being closed unfortunately. A chilled vibe as always.

But went as a single last time and must say the beach was different, compared to being there with my husband. Let’s just say I got a little more attention..

We always take some in a cool bag but there’s always the odd seller walking around selling cold beer etc too.

We have been going through numerous local Council documents about this issue and here is what we found…

The new beach kiosks were open for a very short time prior to Covid but were shut down in March 2020 as a result of the pandemic.

Their licences had all expired well before then and the kiosks were, in effect, being run without licences for several years before Covid!

The Council has used Covid as an opportunity to review and regulate the licences for the kiosks, and this is why they have remained closed even though life elsewhere on GC is getting back to normal. The good news is that after a couple of years of indecision the Council have finally invited applications for licences to run the kiosks - the deadline for applying was 17 August.

Unfortunately after nearly three years of inactivity the new kiosks are now looking a bit damaged – due to vandalism and general wear and tear from the weather.

We were there a few weeks ago and we found that the new kiosks are about 50 yards away from the sunbeds...so a bit of a walk with your cold beers!

Meanwhile, the 24 former employees who ran the kiosks before Covid have been mounting their own campaign to get them re-opened with demonstrations outside the Town Hall!

It does feel odd, doesn't it. And did you find the guys running the sunbeds to be a bit more stroppy than before?

Each kiosk is a unique little beach bar - literally on the sand - selling cold beer on draught, all types of drinks, hot coffee and a range of food such as baguettes, sandwiches etc.

Each kiosk serves a group of sunbeds and provides an oasis on the huge Maspalomas beach.

Toilets are separate.

Hope that helps

The 24 that run the Kiosks are these the legal or illegal employees? All sounds deep n murky in Spanish bureaucracy..

The new kiosks costa fww quid too

Hello, here we are again

Does anyone have any news about the beach kiosks opening yet?

The deadline for applications to run them was mid-August.Is that too soon to expect anything to be happening?
