We are heading to PDI in November. When we were last there in March the kiosk 6 was closed on the nudist beach, can anyone please update us on the situation now on weather it is open or not. |

"ha ha .... we've been hearing this for years and years (actually did have a beer in the new kiosk the day it opened, just before it closed...lol)"
I heard it a lot of times, but kiosk was working until 2020 (before be closed for pandemic measures, only two years ago) and now Council released the public auction for long renting.

Thanks for the updates, it's clearly a very complicated situation!
We have been going through numerous Council documents about this issue and here is what we found…
The new beach kiosks were open for a very short time prior to Covid but were shut down in March 2020 as a result of the pandemic.
Their licences had all expired well before then and the kiosks were, in effect, being run without licences for several years before Covid!
The Council has used Covid as an opportunity to review and regulate the licences for the kiosks, and this is why they have remained closed even though life elsewhere on GC is getting back to normal. The good news is that after a couple of years of indecision the Council have finally invited applications for licences to run the kiosks - the deadline for applying is 17 August.
Unfortunately after nearly three years of inactivity the new kiosks are now looking a bit damaged – due to vandalism and general wear and tear from the weather.
Meanwhile, the 24 former employees who ran the kiosks before Covid have been mounting their own campaign to get them re-opened with demonstrations outside the Town Hall!
One of the workers has said “It looks like there will be a third summer when the best beaches on the island still do not provide any services to visitors”
However, it could mean that there may kiosks finally operating on the beach in time for the Swingers rush in September/October!

"Sorry if this is a stupid question but are the sunbeds back on the nude beach even if the kiosk is still closed?
Yes, they have been since spring "
Worth noting that they don't accept cash. |

Just got back from 2 wonderful weeks in GC...
The kiosks are not open yet, of course!
The sunbeds are now being run by a v efficient and well drilled operation. Kicking out time is 5pm on the dot, which is when they dismantle your umbrella and tip you off the sunbed!! |
