Spanish locator forms

"why is it a dreaded form ........... we had a guest over from the UK last week and it took her 1o minutes to complete ............
"
Agree it takes no time at all. Print it out also and the time taken to check it at the airport is minimal. The amout of time waisted looking for the page on your phone is longer... |

"I follow the benidorm enthusiast on Facebook she just posted it"
Ah the fact filled platform known as Facebook
I'd hazard a guess that when it's no longer required it will be on the government website first.

Usually takes a while for the websites to be updated with any news and I believe Spain said what was said about relaxing covid rules there was misinterpreted so maybe carry on doing them until there’s real clarity |

The health control form is the spth.
As usual, you have to dig to get the full
Information. On spth.gob.es it says you now don’t need an spth form if you have an EU DCC or an EU Equivalent. Digging further the equivalent is a form issued by another country, accepted by the EU as equivalent. Digging further again, the UK is on the list of countries.
Having said all that, if I was travelling this weekend, I’d do an spth form. It only takes 5 minutes, and it may take time for airlines etc. to react to the change.

Thanks to the messenger , even though you were shot at several times .
As some said , it was maybe only 10 minutes to fill in the spth form. And only 15 for the return to home. And only a lft test before coming home , and then a day 2 test .but now all those things are basically doing nothing of use , and I go on holidays to relax , it's great news. |

I am not sure whether its still needed or not but I found the Spanish form easier than the UK one to complete when it was needed and you can do a group one too if more of you travelling unlike what you had to do with the UK one which was one per person. |

Maybe it's changed in the last two weeks but there was a long queue at Las Palmas checking the forms and if you didn't have one you got sent to the back of the queue, people were even sent back because they couldn't get into their phones to show it.
If you want to save the hassle of wasting 5 minutes of your life filling in a form you might not need then go for it
If we were going next week we would fill it in and print it same same as we've done the last 4 trips to the canaries it's so simple. |

"I am flying to Malaga next week and have just tried to do the locator form. The link is no longer showing this form instead asks you to upload your vaccination details."
I have just seen that. One of the questions you need to answer is 'The starting area of your trip' and lists areas like NW, Yorkshire, East Midlands etc. Does that mean though what are the airport you are travell8ng from is or actually where you live as of course that can differ. What does anyone think. To me it does not seem clear but then again I have not had any chocolate yet. |

I think the regulations just changed if you have a digital EU certificate ( or another country that is on the list which includes UK) and you have to upload your vaccination certificate for validation. |

I just went to the UK hov website and when you click the Spanish locator form it gives you all the info. Have a look and see what you think. As some people said above it might be worth doing the form and not just validating the certificate. Best you check with operator perhaps. |

As previously said now a link on the side says you can check and validate your certificate but not sure if you always need to do that or you can just print and take with you or show on app. I only went through to were you have to upload the certificate but not actually done it. Try and see what it says and let us know. |

Like I said, we were asked for it, we showed it, anyone didn't they were sent to the back of the queue.
This may have changed very recently but I just completed one and got a qr code for tomorrow and it took me under 5 minutes so if it's available I'll do it irrespective and know I'm good to go |

Go onto their spth site, it asks if you have a valid certificate, then you need to input your country and district, United Kingdom and North West for me, it then asks for the file, I printed mine off and then took a photo of the QR code, it validates the code and explains what to do on arrival in Spain, hope this helps |

Friends arrived in Lanzarote yesterday and had to produce vaccine certificates and Spanish Locator Form.
If we were travelling in the next few weeks would take the 10 minutes required to complete the form, it's really easy and could keep you out of a world of grief. |

The passenger locator form is not complicated. It’s 15 minutes of your life taken away sadly, but it is what it is.
As long as you are prepared then it’s a simple process. You know who you are, where you live. Couple this with your passport number, who you are flying with, flight number, when you travel, when you are leaving, where you are staying (address) and if you are flying straight there (no transit, which the majority of holidaymakers will be).
If you’ve got all this to hand, then it’s a quick process (yes a bit boring but not laborious).
This can be done prior to travel and the final completion two days (not 48 hours I’ve learnt, unless the UK one) prior to leaving you just do the final confirmations about not having covid etcetera. Submit, and you have your brand new, bright shiny locator form, which you can save on your phone, screenshot and have in your photos (make sure you have a fully charged working phone that isn’t going to die on arrival, otherwise print it out as well - which we would recommend as a backup. It won’t even cost you a tree).
You can download the SpTH app on your phone to do this. Last year, it was ropey and ended up going online from my laptop to complete. I am going to give it another go this year though, as it may have improved.
So I would say, if you have a laptop and a bigger screen, go online and do it.
If you are doing it on your phone, then the app is probably better (providing it works).
Hope this helps.
Oh and by the time you have finished reading this post, there’s a strong chance that you would have completed the form for yourself. Then having that knowledge and experience, you can shave off at least 15% of that time to do your partner’s, if travelling as a couple. |

This did make me laugh as well as very helpful of course. I always found the form easy especially as you can do one for more people at the same time. However the site now has a link that says to just upload your pass for validation if you are vaccinated and have the EU or another country's like UK's approved pass so I assumed in that case yiu don't need the form. However after what was said in a couple of posts, I probably will complete the form when going just to be on safe side. |

Normally I don’t over check these things until closer to the time, but aided with this information, and out of curiosity, coupled with me feeling dangerous as it’s a Friday, I decided to let loose and have a nose.
I went on the SpTH website, followed the link. Took a screenshot of my international covid pass (3rd one, the booster) and uploaded. It didn’t recognise the QR code initially, so I cut all the noise around the pass so it was a nice big QR code.
Upon adding travelling from the UK, the West Midlands and the date of travel (all drop down bixes) and uploading a picture of the QR code and clicking submit (after confirming I was a human, keep that one quiet please). I was greeted with the following:
Validation result
VALID
Your certificate is valid for travel to Spain on the date indicated, 2022/04/20.
We recommend that you check the health requirements required to travel to Spain, within 72 hours prior to your trip. Upon arrival at the airport, follow the signs for ORANGE health control with EU DCC or equivalent.
Anyone seen these signs in Las Palmas airport? |

This is the opening notice on the website:
Important information
To travel to Spain if you have an EU DCC, or equivalent EU it is not necessary to complete the SpTH health control form.
On the homepage you can find more information about the vaccination, recovery or diagnostic test DCCs that are valid for travelling to Spain.
By clicking here: here you can consult the countries that have an EU equivalent certificate.
People in transit and children under the age of 12 do not have to show DCC or SPTH QR.
You will have to show the DCC prior to boarding and when passing the health controls, please follow the indications that you will see upon arrival at the airport.
For more information on the health requirements necessary to pass health controls at the airport of arrival in Spain, please click on this link: |

We completed ours, very easy done, arrived and they now bring you in through a different arrivals area. EU passports go through self check passport control and then we got waved through the health check control, didn't have to show locator form at all. That was flying from Dublin |

"On the spth website, if you click on the button saying you have digital covid certificate. It does not allow you to complete a form for entry"
Spot on. Whether the website or the app it states clearly you need a valid cert OR the SpTH QR code.
Even if you say you’ve a valid certificate and then complete the questions, if you submit a fully vaccination code (I’m guessing older than 270 days) then it states it’s invalid and the provides a link to fill the SpTH form and follow the guidance.
However, if you have a cert like a booster (or a fully vax less than 270 days) then the validation test will confirm you’re valid.
I’m going to go through this process again a couple of days before we leave and if all good then I don’t think we’ll be doing the SpTH form. |

I went back on line earlier and the Covid pass we have from the UK is not an EU approved one so you need to click that you are arriving from a 3rd country. This then takes you to the passanger locator form. |

It actually says EU or other approved ( from a list of 37 countries at the moment) and when you click to check the list, UK is on it. So as I read it, you can upload it in the validation link rather than the locator form. However, as many said, might be advisable to do the locator form as to be fair its not that difficult and certainly easier than the one we used to have to fill in for coming back to UK when that was a requirement. I tried ringing the Spanish office just to clarify but was on for over 20 mins and no answer so I gave up. When I travel, I will probably personally do the form just to be on the safe side just as I did last time I travelled. |

I’m thinking of this tactically. As this looks a recent change some have advised to just proceed with the locator form as well, as no harm having all areas covered.
If you do, and you’ve also got the valid pass to follow the orange signs, I guess hedging bets you could follow the shortest queue. |

Gov.uk updated it's Spain 'Entry Requirement 08/04 as follows:
All travellers
The documentation you must present on entry when travelling from the UK to Spain is determined by your reason for travel.
If you are traveling to Spain for tourism you must show valid proof of one of the following:
being fully vaccinated (with both doses of a two-dose vaccine or one dose of a one-dose vaccine) at least 14 days prior to arrival in Spain (date(s) of vaccination must be specified). See ‘If you’re fully vaccinated’.
having recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months. You can also use a medical certificate or recovery record to prove your COVID-19 status on entry to Spain. See ‘If you’ve had COVID-19 in the past year’.
There are some different entry requirements for children under 12 years old and those aged 12 to 17 inclusive. See ‘Children and young people’
EU citizens and accompanying family members of an EU citizen (including those travelling for tourism purposes), residents of Spain, or those covered by one of the other exemptions listed may present alternative documentation to the vaccine certificate. See Exemptions
Spain has a Travel Health Control form which you must complete no more than 48 hours before travel to Spain, unless you have a digital COVID-19 certificate. See Spain’s Ministry of Health travel pages for more detail. |

Traveled through Malaga this morning. There is two lanes, one for locator forms one for vaccine certs. Only had our NHS passes. Allowed straight through no problem. Random checks of bar codes but it is minimal.
In short..no locator form needed. |

In that case, I really don't know. Did you upload the file as image or pdf? To be fair, I tried both and both came back invalid. Perhaps its not reading the booster dose. No idea really but if it fails when I need it again, I will just fill the form and be done with it.

Having said all that, I tried to upload and validate my certificate and it said invalid, so there is obviously a glitch with the system so I will definitely be doing the form.
OK, just managed to speak to someone at the spanish office who said the reason for certificate comes back invalid is that you need to validate no more that 72 hours before travel. He also said that either validating the certificate or filling the form are acceptable. I hope it helps
Very helpful..thank you..
When are you guys going ???"

"As I read it, if your 2nd jab original vaccination was more than 270 days ago, you need to have had a booster after but check the most recent requirements always on the site"
Yes .. if you have booster jab done .. it will be on your covid vaccine sertificat.. better to print it ..nothing else you need .. in Spain go to Orange pass .. that all ..happy holidays .. |

If you not fully vaccinated than you need to have Spain allocation form.. and when you in Spain go to Blue pass at the airport.. it is all so simple ! |

"Think you will find its 48 hours before x
The locator form yes but if you are validating your certificate, he told me it was 72 hours. Either way if done within 48 hours hopefully works.
Have you recently updated your code?
I ask because they expire after a month and you have to generate a new code.
I purposely renewed ours on the 2nd April for it to expire on the 2nd May, the day after we return.
Yes I have but did not go through as valid. The guy I spoke to at the Spanish Health Control Centre told me it is because I have to try and validate the certificate within 72 hours of travel.
We don’t go until the 20th, but the code returned valid, so not sure what the difference is.
In that case, I really don't know. Did you upload the file as image or pdf? To be fair, I tried both and both came back invalid. Perhaps its not reading the booster dose. No idea really but if it fails when I need it again, I will just fill the form and be done with it.
"
Here’s where the challenge lies I think.
I downloaded the international passports (all three jabs), then I took a screenshot of the third (the booster). It failed the first time, so I edited the picture by zooming into the pic, cropping the whole of the passport, with the exception of the QR code, so it was a large QR code picture. I uploaded this and it was valid.
Usually QR codes are quite good at getting detected, but I don’t know why the initial picture wasn’t captured as it was a sufficient sized code.
But maybe try this with the booster passport, take a pic of it, zoom in to capture as much of the QR code on screen and take a pic of this and screenshot.
Your interpretation I believe is correct. If you’ve been fully vaccinated within 270 days, then your code is valid.
If you’re fully vaccinated but it’s over 270 days, then you’ll need the booster or recently had covid and recovered. |

Thank you so much. I tried with the focus on the code for the booster as you suggested and it did indeed came back as valid. Thank you, saves having to do the form now just for the sake of it. |

There's certainly alot of conflicting messages here. I am Speaking from experience as I arrived Friday night to Alicante Airport from the UK. All I had to do was upload my EU covid certificate within 48 hours of travel. There is no facility to fill in a form if you do this. On arrival I was asked for my boarding pass and flight number only. NO SPTH form to complete as long as you have uploaded your covid certificate. No such thing as orange and blue lanes, just all together to passport control. |

I am sorry but I don't understand when you say upload your certificate. Do you mean validate it on the link or download it from the app. I validated mine after I downloaded it from the nhs app on the spth link and worked and therefore as you say nothing else needed unless asked to show your certificate on arrival which I will have in printed version as I always do that just in case there is a poor phone connection or malfunction. |

"Does it matter if your covid pass runs out before you go back to uk,as long as it valid when you out to pdi x"
As long as you’re in the country and there isn’t a requirement to have a passport scanner to enter a restaurant/shop etcetera then most likely not going to be an issue.
That said, it’s a 30 second task to renew the passport. Unless you’re tactically counting the validity of your jab (E.g if you’ve only been fully vaccinated, no booster, but close to the 270 day mark that renewing before you go would mean you exceed 270 days and invalid your passport), if that’s what you’re eluding to. |

In all honesty the instructions on the government website (and associated link to Spanish website) are quite clear…. I’d probably suggest following that simple guidance rather than seek the opinions of folk on here…. |

I concur that omitting forums, newspaper articles and hitting the actual source is the best or at least the first approach.
Though not everything is opinion, some is factual and based on experience.
Sadly the current climate is dynamic and constantly moving, but the source is the best location, even though Spanish tourism fooked up earlier in the week. |

Bottom line, on Wednesday, we uploaded our EU covid certificates, which included boosters and had to complete the locator form, for travel on Thursday. On arrival, at the health check, there were only 2 people at the 8 or do stations and there were waving people through. It was no hassle completing the form and if unnecessary, who cares?
Still have to wear masks in taxis, public transport and enclosed spaces.....even at La Mirage, mask mandatory if you go up to the bar, or into the Mini Mart and all staff wearing them. We know that's going to change but it is what it is, no big deal |

It’s not really conflicting info but more of a transition in an ever changing covid world.
From example, the locator forms were scrapped for fully vaccinated/proof of recovery tourists from the 6th April. There was a period of transition as airports got ready for this.
Our experience, travelling out on the 20th April as fully vaccinated, boosted, and covid recoverers was to have our digital covid passport updated and saved to our phone.
Going on to the Spainish Travel Health website and entering our details, suggested we didn’t need to have a locator form populated. As two weeks had passed from the transition, we decided not to.
Our experience of going through the airport was straight forward. No checks and from taxing to the bus stop, about 30 minutes.
From a mask point of view. From the 20th April, masks are only required on public transport, pharmacies and hospitals.
Our experience is that we had to wear on the bus to and from the airport. In Taxis and one buffet restaurant insisted that we wore masks when collecting food, which wasn’t an issue.
Hope this helps. |

"This is 7 weeks old, what is the situation with masks now?
Also am I right in saying that no locator form needed or no proof of vaccination if coming from another EU country?"
UK is not EU any longer.
We are off to Menorca soon and only proff of being double jabbed is needed. |

I’d check that if I were you, I may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure you need proof of booster as well to be classed as fully vaccinated |

True!
The booster vaccination (which bizarrely has a 9 month expiry for travel despite it only offering 10-12 weeks of protection) OR a negative LF test result (because only the unvaccinated contract the virus it seems) will see you get in.

The documentation you must present on entry when travelling from the UK to Spain is determined by your reason for travel.
If you are traveling to Spain for tourism you must show valid proof of one of the following:
being fully vaccinated. Your vaccination status must meet the Spanish authorities’ validity period requirements. See ‘If you’re fully vaccinated’.
a negative COVID-19 test: either a PCR taken within 72 hours prior to departure, or an antigen test taken within 24 hours prior to departure. See ‘If you’re not fully vaccinated’.
having recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months. You can also use a medical certificate or recovery record to prove your COVID-19 status on entry to Spain. See ‘If you’ve had COVID-19 in the past year’. |

Masks are still mandatory in public transport and hospitals etc but nowhere else.
If you're coming from another EU country you can get through without the form or the certificate.
Worth nothing that you're only counted as vaccinated if you've had both doses no longer than 270 days ago or the booster. |

"Hardly anyone wore masks on our plane"
I guess that because you travelled with a UK airline If you flew with say a German airline ( as masks are mandatory in German public transport) you would be required to wear a mask.

Granted not German, but flew with KLM to Amsterdam a couple of weeks back. No masks worn on the plane or public transport either. |

I was using Germany as a reference as they still require masks on public transport. The Netherlands do not, and like the UK masks are not required on public transport so it would not quite rightly qbeen enforced.
If you fly from the UK on an airline that requires masks on public transport in their home country you will have to wear one. Example being if you flew Lufthansa from UK to Amsterdam masks would be needed. However if you flew BA from Germany to London masks wouldn’t be needed.
It’s nothing to do with what rules the country has on departure or landing but what rules the country has got where the airline is based
You need to get out of the little Britain mentality and realise there is a big wide world outside your little life |
