"We like Sakura II Japanese restaurant, very close to Cita near south entrance. Check out on Google maps x "
Agree.... we went with 2 other couples from Fab. Get seats round the live cooking area... very entertaining and the food is great |

"Marco Polo - 2nd floor in Cita.
No matter what you order - it’s delicious!"
Seconded. We do enjoy a Steak here. Reasonably priced.
Also had a steak last November with a lava stone to cook it on. Chef was top class!
Next door to MP is Carlos V. Not as good as MP, but a decent steak in a 3 course for €14 is a bargain!
Asia House/Miss Asia are decent Chinese restaurants, and for tapas, La Tapita Los Joses and Ibericos J. Cruz.
We also like Tango Tapas. |

"We are just as happy with a nice chineses buffet in the yumbo….can’t remember the name tho"
If you mean China Town on the ground floor in the plaza, then we concur.
Very first place we ate in PDI and still visit 2/3 times during our stay. The waitress is very warm and friendly. Always a pleasure.
It’s cheap as chips, around €8, a good selection and as the Bain Maries aren’t huge, and it gets busy, the food is for the most part very fresh and regularly turned over.
We always aim to get there between 19:00 and 20:30 as the optimal time.
They also make a nice jug of sangria/champagne sangria.
Coincidentally, we were talking about the place today as we enjoy their spring rolls. And Lizzie was in the local chippy buying one.
The other option is Asia House. Over the bridge by CC Ronda. Not swanky looking, more backstreet cafe and a bit more expensive at circa €13 but the buffet is made to order. You pick from the menu a number of items and they will cook it fresh and bring it to your table. |

100% agree on Asia House
San Fernando has some great restaurants (mainly in the vicinity of the Bellavista Centre) that are well worth visiting. |

Bookmarking. We've eaten a lot in Maspalomas and Melonoras but not in PDI. We're staying in an airbnb 5 mins from the Cita Centre so looking for any good grill restaurants, especially lamb, and any good takeaway options around the Cita. We have a car but prefer cocktails! |

"Royal Steak House in the Yumbo. Awesome fillet steaks. Staff are really polite and attentive. Well worth a try xx"
Yes that's the best place I found, not just the steaks but the other dishes too. Some cracking desserts as well, the fried ice cream with honey and stuff was awesome |

Loving this thread. Making my mouth drool and counting the days.
We do enjoy a mix dürüm kebab with fries and a drink from Sultan Kebap. There’s a chain of them around the island, but usually eat at the one near Kasbah on the way home after a skinful.
And also (Pepe) Chiringos. One of those don’t plan a night there, you just end up there eat outs on the way home from the clubs.
I haven’t heard a mention for, I think it’s called, Los Porches.
We walk past it every time we come from the Yumbo or Sandia and for years we’ve been saying we will eat there but never have.
It’d be good to get some feedback on this place. |

We went to Los Porches twice, first time was spectacular, second time couldn't possibly have been worse, dry tastless paella.
We noticed a few weeks ago when passing it was mostly less than half full which we have never seen it was always rammed. So interested to hear if we had a simple one off bad experience ?

We love the pizzas at Sultan Kebap, we go to the one on Avenida de Tirajana, take away back to the apartment….yum! |

Was at Los Porches on Boxing Day. Packed out. Know the owners quite well and they said that it had been very busy. Their meat is really good. And menu of the day is under 15 Euro for 3 courses Inc a drink |

That’s a bargain and a half if the quality is still good.
Hopefully NI_Two’s second experience was a one off. |

I think it was menu of the day we had the first time, I'm pretty sure it was canarian soup followed by pork and delicious.
Maybe paella recipe isn't one of their specialities.
Will try again sometime |

Last time we went just before the pandemic, we had an amazing meal at an Indonesian restaurant (cant remember it's name) just round the corner from Imagine, don't know if it's still there but will be having a look for it when we go back in may. |

That’s a shame! I liked her songs. Dizzy thought she was fit as well.
If you fancy a chip butty with some homemade chips, then the English Bakery in the Yumbo is a good shout. |

Bringing this one back to life with a few recent experiences of our own.
Definitely concur with some of the comments above and their trusted recommendations were just.
Tipsy Hammock: Cocktails are superb. The mango daiquiri was very tasty. They also do an excellent Barraquito (synonymous with Tenerife) albeit a bit more expensive than the neighbouring island.
El Poncho: fantastic food. We enjoyed the chateaubriand here which was comparable with Marco Polo. Slightly cheaper than MP, and a different experience but both are so good, we’d visit again and recommend both in a heartbeat.
Sakura III: Now this is a restaurant on the corner. Not sure if this is II, or whether they just version the same restaurant if there are any significant changes (maybe someone can advise?), but this was also a fantastic first experience. The food is on point. Lizzie enjoyed her first lobster experience here and said the sea is possibly the best she’s ever tasted. Our friends ate sushi and ramen soup also concurred. Definitely one to visit if you like your food experience.
El Chacho: The Mexican restaurant is the Yumbo still doesn’t disappoint. Great food, great flavour.
Secret Garden: Small bar above the Burger King in the Yumbo is a nice place to chill and also make some fantastic cocktails. A nice frozen piña colada.
Calma Cafe: This was a fantastic little find. After eating some heavy full English’s (by the way: Mardi Gras still gets our vote for a FE), we were looking for something different. This is a cafe opposite the Rey Carlos and give you a healthy option as an alternative. Believe me, when four of us walked in hungry and saw a menu of quinoa, chia seeds and anything else you’d feed to a parrot or a pet rodent, we were underwhelmed. However, a couple of Caesar wraps later and a healthy scrambled eggs on toast (with a few seeds on the side), resulted in four very full, but not bloated individuals. Power food at its best.
La Ciudadela: Not sure if we’ve recommended this place before, but there’s an abundance of restaurants selling half a roast chicken straight off the rotisserie, and they’ve never disappointed here. Hence our go to. This is on the beach front of PDI. Their salmon was also on point.
Finally if you’re not too hungry and just want a quick snack. We would also say that the English Bakery in the Yumbo make fantastic homemade mommy chips.
6 days left. We’ll hopefully get a couple of more recommendations published soon. |

Update on Los Porches, since Covid, they have stopped using the large charcoal grill, which was such a feature of the restaurant. Food all comes from the formal kitchen. Still tasty but missed the added flavour from the food being freshly grilled to order. Also, on one of our visits, they didn't have our favourite pork fillet, which is a first, in the many times we have eaten there. Staff as friendly as ever, Chef came out to thank people personally and it's still good enough value but has just lost the edge, in our opinion. |

Thanks for sharing these updates.
Los Porches has been on our list for years and it was the smell from the grill when walking past that always caught our attention. Might have to set up a petition to bring it back.
Lovin Food has caught our eye so will definitely take a look before we leave.
Mana 264 is a great recommendation for Tapas this side of PDI. I was speaking to the manager a few years back and he shared their monthly costs of renting the place. Let’s just say that he needs numbers in this place to cover costs, let alone make a profit and you have to make sure the food and experience is top drawer to meet that. The fact they’ve been there for years has to be a good clear sign. Great recommendation.
I’m hungry now! And we’re 2 up! |

You’re very welcome. They’re about €8 a cocktail but definitely worth it. We joined klee69 there for drinks and they were on their second. Again a good sign. Hope you enjoy.

Anyhow, back to restaurants.... we found Marco Polo as busy as ever, in fact, recommend you book online, or expect a wait. We ate there 4 times during our last trip and every meal was excellent with great service too....they have more waiting staff than pre Covid and seem to be doing really well. Starters, Mains and Desserts all top quality and it's only 5 minutes from where we stay |

It would be great if we had a way to share photos of the menus from various restaurants, I don't think there's a way to do it in fab and we would probably get banned if we set something up with a link.
Maybe a mod/admin could comment ? |

Calma Chicha - Just a little up the street from the RUI Palace. Very good menu, and some excellent dishes.
We did also go to Restaurante Umiaya. It's a fine dining place, so expect to drop a few Euros, but the service and food was excellent. (Good tasting menu too) |
