Certificate of recovery

Looking for some clarification on entry into Gran Canaria after having recovered from Covid? Our NHS certificate states that we have recovered, but to check countries you are going to as this might not be enough?

If this is not sufficient, what do we have to provide to get in?

On Gov.UK

You can't use the proof of recovery, to get into GC. You have to show proof of being fully vaccinated.

We’ve had all 3 jabs and caught Omicron at Xmas. We have now tested negative after 10 days and our NHS Covid status shows us as being recovered. Is this enough I’m asking?

If not what else do we need to provide being non EU?

If you download the NHS app, your vaccination record should be in there.

Yes we have that but it might not be enough for entry into Spain as there is a paragraph saying to check the Covid rules that apply to the country you’re flying to and when you look that up it says it might not be enough.

Can anybody who has travelled to Spain after having Covid please respond

You only need proof of having two vaccines to enter Gran Canaria .

Fill in the Spanish SpTH form. Will ask you for your vaccine proof.

We've been to pdi twice last year also Benidorm. Just screenshot your double or booster jabs with date on,that's all you need to show.

Yes Yes I get all that, but once you’ve had Covid it updates your NHS passport showing you’ve had it and recovered.

Once again, has anyone who has had COVID and travelled to Spain been stopped or had to provide anything else?

But you have just said you are fully vaccinated, that proof with dates shows on your nhs record.

I think you are asking about what you need to show, for proof of recovery, for entry in to GC? I can't see any stipulation that you have to show this. Hopefully someone will come along to help. Have a good holiday.

Makes no difference if you have had covid or not. You just need proof of vaccines . It’s irrelevant now

That’s what I was looking for but will check it out. We are now all clear from Covid from today and will wait at least the 14 days to travel

"If you’ve had COVID-19 in the past year

If you’re travelling to Spain for tourism purposes, you cannot use the UK proof of COVID-19 recovery record certifying that you have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months. See the Spanish Ministry of Health Travel and COVID-19 page for details."

Forget proof of recovery.

Your Spanish PLF just wants your vaccine status.

Then your NHS covid pass will be needed as places will scan thus before letting you in or to get served. Even the gaming arcades asked me to show mine !

Thanks all I was hoping that someone who had contracted Covid recently and had travelled to Spain would comment on how they got on?

I’ve been through the Spanish Health website but can’t seem to find info on our specific issue

We have had all 3 jabs before we tested positive on 27th Dec and have done the 10 days isolation.

We have part filled in the Spanish Health Form up until the part you can’t fill in til 48 hours before.

So if anyone in our situation has travelled recently we’d be delighted/relieved to hear how it went?

I live in Gran Canaria and work in London so commute on a regular basis. I haven't had Covid-19 but can tell you that the only time having had Covid-19 comes into the equation is when they ask if you have had Covid-19 or known to have had contact with an infected person in the last 14 days. Otherwise all they care about is whether you have been fully vaccinated.

From the UK side you need:

1) Passport

2) Boarding Pass

3) Spanish locator form (which asks about the above mentioned topic)

4) Proof of vaccination

If you recovered from Covid-19 more than 14 days ago and have not knowingly been in contact with an infected person then your answer on the locator form is "no".

In previous times (before Omicron) then proof of recovery was accepted in place of proof of vaccination. This is no longer the case.

People from the Uk can’t use the recovery method to go to Spain anymore. It has to just be two vaccines. There is one question that says about 14 days after recovery. That’s it.

They will check you have the qr code from the SpTH and your vaccine proof. Nothing else.

If you are after 14 days you are ok to travel. As long as your negative (however they don’t check your status as you don’t need a test to fly)

The 10 days isolation is a NHS time period for going back into general population.

Your airline and the Spanish Health Department require 14 days.

Here is the scenario where people get caught out.

You book a flight and before you get to travel are pinged or get covid. The NHS tells you to isolate for 10 days then things go back to normal. You then re-book your flight for 10 days later.

And here the airlines are naughty. They will take your booking and your money any only after this enquire about your contact/infection history. If you now fall 4 days short of the 14 day requirement they will refuse to refund you.

It's worth mentioning also the rules in England have also changed and Scotland too:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-54239922

Also worth noting for expats is that vaccinations not done by the NHS (eg EU vaccinations) are not accepted unless registered with the NHS.
