I always take the level of activity in the Yumbo Centre as a guide to the current state of health of GC as a whole...and right now it is jumping 
Check out the live webcam and you will see a lively crowd filling up the bars and having a great time!! Even Sparkles looks set to reopen on 9th September.  |

Is there a more interesting story behind the takeover of Sparkles? Has there been a soap-opera style clash of opposing forces to gain control of the Venue? The ousting of the main figures who ran the old Sparkles did seem very quick and severe  |

Sorry that looked like it was aimed at you which of course it wasn't. The sory doing the rounds here In PDI was that Spakles was supposedly shut down for one person not wearing a mask which we thought was extreme.
The police have always been particularly strict on Yumbo businesses which we have always thought unfair considering the spinoff businesses their establishments give to hotels, taxis etc.
We would LOVE to see Sparkles back to it's former glory!  |

Looking at the live webcam tonight the Yumbo is really jumping - in way I haven't seen since before the lock down in March 2020.
Bars are all buzzing, Sparkles is full and crowded and even the crazy acrobat guys are cartwheeling in front of the bars again. Great to see...but any news about the beach kiosks and sunbeds yet ?  |
