The same idiots that have done the same for France, Portugal and Malta so far, their governments. As people who are double vaxxed are according to the figures from the US 90% less likely to contract the virus. The EU vaccination card comes into effect officially on Thursday, this was always going to happen, especially with the Delta variant as it is.

Be interesting to know what the Spaniards will accept as proof of vacination, especially as the UK is not part of the eu vaccine certificate program.

The QR code on the NHS app is being accepted in Switzerland, Netherlands and Estonia, so we assume EU wide. It states only that it must show personal details, vaccination details, date, batch number etc. As well as this we also have a printed version which again is available on the NHS app.

Colleen Kelley, MD, an associate professor of infectious diseases at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta and a principal investigator for the Moderna and Novavax phase III clinical trials at the Ponce de Leon Clinical Research Site was recently asked the question:

"When you say "extremely rare," Dr. Kelley, what does that look like?"

Answer: "Well, so it's less than, you know, 0.01%, so far, of people who have been vaccinated have been reported as having a breakthrough infection."

How accurate are PCR tests?

Accuracy for people without COVID-19 symptoms

The researchers found that people without COVID-19 symptoms correctly tested positive in 58.1 percent of rapid tests. The 95 percent confidence intervals were 40.2 to 74.1 percent.

Most Health Ministers tend to get their information straight from the mouths of of well reputed scientists.

Our very own Matt Hancock was well known for getting things straight from the mouth of people he worked with.

Just to clarify. We are going from a situation where at present no PCR test or vaccination passport is required to a tightening of restrictions.

And this is seen as increasing risk? Any highly intelligent people here care to explain this?

I'm not sure what more people want. I personally would think it would give people more confidence to travel

Whatever we need to do, test, 5 day quarantine (pay for extra test), test to come home. It is what it is. I admit feeling more comfortable travelling knowing everybody has been vaxxed/tested. We're used to it, it's kinda normal now.

2 days and 12 hours and we'll be on the plane, not that I'm counting of course...

I've even done my packing!

On the NHS app, not the NHS Covid app, it has your vaccination dates and details, and the ability to download and print your certificate complete with a QR code unique to you.

All changed over the weekend.

Near Leeds

We will be double Vaxxed 16 days before we travel on the 23/7 so would be good if we didn’t need to test. However if we do, we will no problem.

Just looking forward to getting away now and enjoying some fun in the sun. x

Currently to enter France if you are double vaxxed you still have to have a negative test.

Hi.

Wondering if you can help.

We are both double jabbed so it seems we can enter Gran Canaria with a PCR etc if we prove vax status?

On return to the UK do we need to do a PCR test in GC three days before travel, then another on second day back in the uk?

Thanks

600 pounds for return tests.. what haha... 30 to 35 euros for an antigen in a medical centre which is the requirement. And if test positive you can't isolate for 10days on return because you cant return you need to stay and isolate in spain which the spanish govenment have insurance for to cover costs.

Looking forward to flying back to the uk tomorrow on my negative antigen test with certified certificate

We came back 10 days ago. Double vaxxed you don't need to test to enter Spain. I would suggest printing all your docs as it's so much faster getting through the airport and the staff appreciate having all the doc's in one place, it makes it as easy as possible. Complete the Spain travel health form online. Return test, a fast test was fine, we had puts done at San Roque hospital €15 each, results in 20 mins.

Then complete the UK locator form. It was really quite simple.

Swings and roundabouts really but myself and this post are what you need to follow.

Happy holidays

They will ask for passports and certificates. At this end they will ask the same and passenger locator forms. I would have a paper copy of everything as well for ease. No fiddling with phones etc.

COPIED FROM GOV WEBSITE

Entry rules in response to coronavirus (COVID-19)

Entry to Spain

The Spanish government requires all arrivals to Spain from the UK to present on entry a pre-travel declaration form and one of the following: a negative COVID-19 test; or proof of vaccination.

Fylde Coast.

As it stands it will cost on average £80pp tops for the 2 tests required given that you are fully vaccinated. The flights for Sep are dirt cheap at present so it’s more than cost effective & deff worth a punt x

If you are not fully vaccinated

If you do not qualify under the fully vaccinated rules, on arrival in England you must:

quarantine at home or in the place you are staying for 10 days

take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8

Read about the fully vaccinated rules, quarantine and taking COVID-19 tests after arrival in England.

If you are in England for less than 10 days, you need to quarantine for the time you are here. You need to book day 2 and day 8 travel tests. You only need to take the tests if you are still in England.

Do you have a PCR test or is a antigen test sufficient on your return to the UK from the Canaries. On th Govt website it says they reccommend PCR but is unclear if the antigen is sufficient.
