This to avoid youngsters/groups on the street drinking.
This is good news for us....there is light on the end of the tunnel

The Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands has recalled that nightlife on the islands will not be able to open until there is an agreement from the Regional Government Council in this regard.

We have reached our 12 years anniversary!!!!
Unfortunately we cannot celebrate like we do every year, but we hope to see you again soon.
The government still does not allow us to reopen without so many restrictions??.
At this moment it is all very uncertain to choose a date for our reopening and we will wait for things to change positively.

Thursday June 10:
The spokesman for the Canary Islands Government, Julio Perez, has announced in the press conference after today’s Governing Council meeting that all the islands will remain at the alert levels they are in, meaning that Tenerife and Lanzarote will continue at alert level 2 due to its epidemiological situation, for at least one more week, and their data continues to worry the Government.
He also announced that nightlife (nightclubs, discos, fun pubs), hospitality (bars, restaurants etc), and activities such as bingo halls or casinos may open on the islands being in level 1, until 2:00am, meeting certain capacity and occupancy requirements, as well as registering attendees., and added that this does not mean that the regulations for capacity and prevention of the coronavirus do not have to be respected.
The new measures will be published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands and come into force with their publication, except for the opening of outdoor nightlife, which is established as of Friday June 18th, with current rules for use of terraces being applicable.

Following today’s Governing Council meeting, official spokesman Julio Perez, announced that all islands are staying in the same alert level for the moment. He said that the evolution of the pandemic on the island of Tenerife "is not good", but it will not change level for now.
The regional government, already explained last week in a press conference that the Executive observes the data of the island of Tenerife "with concern", whose curve has "turned into a straight line and that some days produces some shocks".
However the situation in Lanzarote, is more localized in some specific outbreaks, but the figures are similar. However, the alert levels are maintained as before:
Level 1: La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura.
Level 2: Tenerife and Lanzarote.
Although no extra restrictions have been applied in Tenerife at this stage, the Public Health Committee are appealing to every single person in Tenerife to be more responsible and comply with the regulations in place, because if the situation doesn’t change, they will be left with no choice but to act accordingly.

Sanity prevails. TSJC has over ruled restrictions on the hospitality sector in Tenerife based on a lack of evidence that new infections orientate from this area of society.
In a seperate story, which is a case in point, 67 hostel dwellers who were moved into a hotel have tested positive for Covid-19. Apparently they were moved because of an outbreak but not tested, thereby spreading the virus rather than containing it. |

GOVERNMENT AND HOSPITALITY SEEK AN AGREEMENT AFTER SUPREME COURT RULING
This has been reported by the president of the Tenerife Cabildo, Pedro Martín, who appeared before the media after participating in a meeting attended by the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres; the president of Fecam, María Concepción Brito, representatives of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS), and the hospitality and commercial sectors of Tenerife and the Canary Islands.
Pedro Martín said that the hospitality representatives are aware that Tenerife is in a "very serious situation with the pandemic at the moment”, so they are willing to adopt some additional measures despite the judicial order, but it depends on what they are.
For this reason, tomorrow, Wednesday, a new meeting will be held in which the hospitality sector will propose "an intermediate point between level 2 and 3, with some restrictions in the interiors of their premises.”
Martín hopes that in tomorrow's meeting it will be possible to reach a consensus that will establish a "clear situation" because "we cannot be changing the rules of the game all the time." Likewise, he appealed to the responsibility of the sector and hoped that the proposal presented tomorrow would allow an agreement to be reached and avoid further legal disputes.

Looks like there is a compromise of 40% interior capacity with 4 per table and 75% terrace with 6 at a table as per usual.
We're personally disappointed with this. When formal establishments are restricted then people attend informal gatherings instead. These informal gatherings tend to be unmonitored and uncontrolled with less social distancing, masks etc.
Tenerife needs root cause analysis not knee jerk reactions. |

The new regulations are as follows:
- Interior use of 40% with tables of 4 for any clients.
- Tables can be increased to 6 if all members of the group are fully vaccinated.
- An extra 10% of maximum capacity, totalling 50%, can be used if clients are fully vaccinated, with tables of 6.
In summary, 50% of the maximum capacity for the interior of the premises can be used, but at least 10% will have to be fully vaccinated, or 40% can be used freely. Vaccination must be accredited with the correct vaccination certificate and monitoring of this is the responsibility of the establishments.
- Terraces up to a maximum of 75% with tables of 6.
- Closing time is set at midnight.
- Extreme sanitary measures including correct distancing of tables, hand gels, cleaning tables in-between use, correct use of masks by clients and especially staff.
- Registration of all clients that use interiors in all hospitality venues in case of outbreaks for track and trace.
- Increased surveillance of venues in risk areas, i.e. those with most cases and highest incidence rates, to check for compliance with regulations.
The hospitality associations have agreed to these terms so that businesses can keep their interiors open, but have agreed to a very simple condition: Non-compliance to any of the above will lead to fines and closure of either the interior, the terrace, or the complete premises.
**Who is checking this certificate of vaccination? Can easily be false!! if the owner of the business is responsible, how can he check the QR code is valid? |

I posted earlier that restrictions were not going to make the slightest difference unless they enforced measures in areas where infections originate and sadly this has been the case with infections spiralling out of control. In GC too.
On the bright side not very many deaths or hospitalisations with us today passing the 60% first dose mark and 40% second doses. |

We can only hope that when life gets back to normal people appreciate what has been missing, and support the businesses that have suffered so badly, and through no fault of their own.

Exactly. It sends two messages. One vaccine helps prevent the spread of the virus and then that it did doesn't change a thing.
Right now we are heading towards being on the red list but it has absolutely nothing to do with travel. Social distancing has gone out the window. |

Am due to fly over on the 25th of this month. I can see the that the 7 day list of cases is lower than the 14 day list, also that most of the cases are in Santa Cruz.

Published tonight,Thursday 8 July:
After reviewing the latest epidemiological data for the Canary Islands in today’s Governing Council meeting after more than 500 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Minister of Health for the Canary Islands, Blas Trujillo, has announced that they have decided that Gran Canaria moves to alert Level 2 restrictions, and Tenerife will have a reinforced Level 3 with extra restrictions.
In addition, the sale of alcohol at a retail level (shops, minimarkets etc) will also be prohibited from 8:00pm, and beaches, parks, square_ and other spaces where it is anticipated that there may be crowds of youngsters or celebrations of “botellons" are to be closed at night from 8pm until 6am.
Shows in enclosed spaces are prohibited if distancing cannot be maintained or the use of a mask cannot be controlled, and events with an influx of more than 700 people are prohibited.

Update Thursday July 15;
After the meeting of the Governing Council, the official Government spokesman, Julio Perez, and the Minister of Health, Blas Trujillo, announced at the press conference that, the Canary Islands are still at "medium risk", although the incidence at 7 days has doubled as has the hospital occupancy.
After several days above 500, and 600, daily cases, the usual meeting of the Governing Council of the Canarian Executive today has special importance due to the growth of the pandemic in the Islands, and after reviewing the data have announced that Tenerife stays at Level 3, Gran Canaria stays at Level 2, Fuerteventura moves up to Level 3, La Palma moves up to Level 2, and Lanzarote, La Gomera, and El Hierro stay at Level 1.
Trujillo reported that the "new epidemiological situation is determined by the advancement of new strains, such as the Delta, which has greater transmissibility and is spreading very rapidly in the population aged between 12 and 39 years old.”
Regarding the use of the Covid certificate, Perez explained that the Government wants to "link indoor mobility with the immunity certification, so in the next few days we will study how to do it, in reference to interiors for public use. Over 500,000 people have downloaded it so far and we can use for so much more than travel.”
There is light at the tunnel and we can reopen our club at least with entrance of covid certificate this can be a solución to reopen nightlife again.

The Government wants to implement the COVID certificate to access "establishments".
As a novelty, Pérez explained that the Government will study with the different sectors the operation of implementing the COVID certificate that is downloaded from the website of the Canary Islands Health Service, as a kind of «passport» to access hotel or leisure establishments
"The Government believes that the time has come to limit mobility and link it to the provision of the covid certificate," said Pérez.
This certificate indicates if the carrier person has had the disease, been vaccinated or if a PCR or antigen test has been carried out in the last 48 hours and is negative.
The measure, Pérez said, is already being applied in other countries and in the mainland Spain, he recalled, half a million people have already downloaded it.
"This is an easy testing principle, the covid certificate can be a useful idea," he said.
In fact, he added, “it is what we establish in accommodation establishments, immunity must be proven and this system can be extended and perfected.
A kind of internal passport. The measure, in any case, said Pérez, will be taken in an extraordinary Governing Council.

Tenerife does go to Level 4 and gran canaria level 3 as of midnight Sunday, the BOC has yet to be published, but there have been tweaks to the level 4 restrictions for hospitality. They can continue to have their interiors open to 50% but ALL must present proof of full vaccination if they are over 18 years of age to enter the interiors.

The restrictions are more or less the same as in level 3, that's why it's stupid! It only keeps tourism away because everyone is confused.....
More info about the restrictions follow as on Monday they have a new meeting and they will explain what to do with the covid certificate.
The idea is the same as in France and Italy, all venues inside to only enter with green covid certificate |

Justice knocks down the obligation of COVID certificate in the hospitality industry on the same day that the Canary Islands touch 1,000 infections again.
The total closure of the establishments between 00:00 and 6:00, and the capacity limit inside these establishments on levels 3 and 4 is also suspended.
The Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) has provisionally suspended the measure approved by the Government of the Canary Islands,to require a COVID Certificate of vaccination to citizens to be able to access hotel and restaurant venues, as well as theaters and cinema_ and other venues, on islands that are in health alert level 4 (currently, only Tenerife).
The court suspends "the requirement for a COVID-19 certificate showing a complete vaccination schedule, a diagnostic test of active infection (excluding diagnostic self-tests) with a negative result and carried out within the last 72 hours or certification of having passed the infection in the last six months".
It adds that the capacity limit inside the hotel and restaurant establishments "is set at 50% both in level 3 and level 4 and without being able to demand or take into account the possession or absence of a COVID-19 certificate demonstration of a complete vaccination schedule, a diagnostic test for active infection (excluding diagnostic self-tests) with a negative result and carried out within the last 72 hours or certification of having passed the infection in the last six months ".

Official by law you can yes!
but spoke to our lawyer and gestoría this morning and they say that Tuesday the government will review. Police still comes to close you and fine you because they think they are above the law.
We're not taking that chance. we will wait what happens Tuesday with our decision.
We will reopen half of August, eather with disco nightclub licence or bar.....

Our gestoría and lawyer spoke with the town hall and police and it seems that it has to do with your license. As long there's no "disco" on your license we are allowed to open till 00.00 as the law states for now.
We have been searching this out for nearly a month now..... doesn't make any sense but that's it....only a few stupid words on your license can change everything
Anyway even there are restricciones with groups no bigger than 4 persons together, wearing your mask whilst walking, not using the dancefloor, restrictions on opening hours we will reopen as my list of attendees is growing longer and longer.
Even though it's not the same as before people want to see there liberal friends again and take it as it is for now.
I'm not that relaxed as I'm always are but we need to reopen now as I'm going crazy and we don't want that to happen....do we hahaha

Preparing for a good long weekend already long lists with reservations.
Uffff what a change, after so long back to work again....I love it.
We have made some changes and guests love it. Really nice to see everyone again. I was afraid people don't come now we have the opening times from 20.00 till 00.00 but people just don't mind and come anyway

Good news today from government.
Yesterday TENERIFE dropped to level 3! That means from Monday 6th September,bars/nightlife can stay open till 01.00 instead of 00.00!!!
That means a lot for most businesses....

NEWS UPDATE
Tenerife moves down to Level 2 restrictions.
Nightlife venues can now stay open until 4am in Levels 1 and 2 with use of the Covid Certificate…without certificate open till 2am!
The level change takes effect from 00:00h on Friday (midnight tonight), and the change for nightlife on Friday night after publication in the BOC tomorrow...
More to follow as the government leaves the choice of this decision to the businesses. As nightlife want to stay open till 4am, all guests have to show Green card (covid certificate) or negative test 8 hours prior AND STAFF NEEDS TO BE VACCINATED AS WELL!!!! |

Be careful with your possessions as Troya is on the edge of Veronicas and been a few muggings lately. Obviously you wll be fine on the main streets but keep an eye out nevertheless. Just past Veronicas/Starco are Leonardos/Travellers Rest pubs, both decent and if you google yolo(next to Tigotan) thats great for a few drinks. |
