Very hard to say. The Canaries are doing particularly well, hopefully they will treat the mainland and the islands seperately, when making their decision. |

I think the canaries want to be considered separately. I'm going to benidorm on 18th June but we can't go if its on Amber. I could do the quarantine but not all of us can so no point going on my own. |

In addition to the quarantine issue is the restrictions once there ... currently Spain have an imposed rule/law that face masks to be worn on beaches .... jeez thought sunglasses marks were bad. I’d come home with a brown nose and forehead!! |

Not in the Canaries. On the beaches and at swimming pools, you are not obliged to wear a mask while bathing and while you occupy a particular or specified space, without moving (so not needed while sunbathing) |

That is only partly true.
When walking around on the beach you are expected to wear a mask.
However once settled on your sunbed/towel Etc. It can be removed. |

However once settled on your sunbed/towel Etc. It can be removed."
Personally if I have to walk around outside wearing a mask all day I would rather stay at home though  . Sadly most of our friends have the same opinion, I just don’t see there being much of a summer season this year. |

As I live in Spainand the rule for the face covering has been mandatory for some time now, it feels normal and isn't that bad. If tourist are allowed back into the country soon, which I hope they are. I'm sure that will be a minor issue."

It is a personal choice, of course, but a small price to pay for a lovely holiday in the sun. |

Yes I suppose it will put a lot of people off but others will put up with it for the sake of getting some kind of holiday.
It isn't quite as bad as it seems and to be honest we've got quite used to it now.
It would depend on exactly where you are staying. In a hotel in one of the bigger (busier) resorts/cities then you would have wear it when walking around, but when sat at a table in a bar or restaurant it can be removed. The same as when sat on the beach.
In the more spread out areas where there a far fewer people walking around many just wear the mask around the chin and raise it if someone gets close.
We can walk to our local commercial centre and not get within 100 metres of anyone until we are almost there. So that is what we (and many others) do.

The mask situation isn't that bad.
As a larger lady with Asthma ot doesn't bother me as much as you would think.
And as said before, I wear my mask in shops, restaurants and walking around where there are lots of people. Once inside and having a drink or food you can take it off.
At the beach (I don't go often because sand ) I wear it while walking TO the beach, take it off as soon as I get ON the beach and it's off until I leave and get to the walk way.
It probably feels weird to start with, especially if you haven't been wearing a mask in the UK, but having said that will be worth it to have some sun and go to a restaurant or bar with people.
Just my opinion, don't cone for me. |

The worrying thing, and that with which the government must be very careful, is not just the status of the countries they add to the "green list" but who else will be allowed into these countries.
There's no point having France on a red or amber list and Spain on a green list if we go to Spain and socialise with french people (just an example) and much as we want to, we won't be booking anything other than a last minute deal if the conditions at the time are favourable. |

Incoming tourists are required to produce negative PCR tests on arrival as well as have their temperature tested.
Right now we have a lot of people who didn't cancel their holidays for the Pride Festival and as a result lots of visitors from the EU. Our infection rate continues to drop with known infections in the entire municipal area currently at 11. |

I agree, unfortunately this is one of the things the UK government will take into account when considering which countries will be green in June. If the Canaries are already letting in German and French visitors I can’t see the UK putting Spain ( or the Carnaries) on the green list |

Yes there was an outbreak in the Tenerife Prison. EU tourists? Today it was 140.
There are 628 active cases in the Las Palmas municipality (not known for it's tourism) and 9 cases in the San Bartolomé de Tirajana municipality which attracts most of the islands tourists. A factor of nearly 70...
Still not seeing any data that supports infections being attributed to international tourism. In fact the data for the Canary Islands as a whole is improving week after week on despite an increase in the number of visitors.

There is a difference between municipal area and the Canaries.

There is a difference between municipal area and the Canaries.
It is not as much doom and gloom as you constantly suggest. If it bothers you so much then don't go"
Gran Canaria has an IA7 of 26.65 which is way below the criteria for green and way less that what was acceptable most of lat year when there were no vaccinationa and no tests.
It's also worth noting that Portugal, who made it to the green list have visitors from the EU. So no difference in the risks. |

Years ago Las Palmas, Las Canteros beach was the main resort for GC, as it grew and expanded out and around the island the saddest loss in my opinion was Puerto Rico, before it was developed it was one of the most beautiful coves I had seen....progress? We live inland in the countryside from Malaga and all the way through things have been good here, with the mask wearing nobody has even had a cold this winter, it`s not going to suddenly disappear so to protect ourselves we will be caring for others too, it`s a beautiful sunny morning here so don`t be put off just take a little care?

Portugal has confirmed today that British tourists will be allowed to enter the country from next Monday, after it held crunch talks with the EU about non-essential travel.

On lbc the said portugal currently hold the presidency of countries for the eu so if they can drop their non essential travel so will the rest of europe. Or is it a case like most eu rules

Right now the chances are pretty good that anyone who comes to stay till at least the end of May will come back from a green list country.
It will be interesting to see what happens to ticket prices if it happens... |

Each country is in charge of it's own borders, it is not an EU decision. As the UK is now a third country, it has to be negotiated separately with each country as we nolonger have automatic rights of access. |

The EU stated that a temporary restriction on non-essential travel to the EU is currently in place from many non-EU countries, based on a recommendation agreed by the Council. ... This restriction covers non-essential travel only. Countries are then free to allow travel from other non EU countries but this is by separate negotiation. Countries retain the rights to open and close their borders, the EU does not dictate this. |

What i was getting at in my original post is that portugaul are head of the eu at the moment and agreed the non essential travel and still are saying yes to non essential travel to the rest of the eu but then go and agree that us brits can come in from monday ?. So is it all eu non essential travel or just those other than portugal . I agree each countty will make its own choices but greece malta and spain all wanted us to be allowed on the 17th but the eu voted no |

Not the case. The EU is all for easing restrictions. Link below from May 3rd.
Madeira is already allowing double vaccinated tourist as are several other places. This is not an EU decision it's down to the autonomous regions. As we are now a third country we have no rights of access/free movement to the EU anymore.

not true you don't have to wear a facemask while on the beach sunbathing, or in spaces that are outside an built up area.
