Canaries tourist minister has twice contradicted the spanish presidents claim that there will be no tourists untill 70%of spain is vaccinated. It boils down to the fact that neither the canaries or ballieric islands could survive another 12 mths without tourists. Just hope air corridors are reinstated with no quarantine on return. Prob negative test before travel and before return . Or even better proof of vaccine. This can just be added to your check in details online. Aswell as passport number enter your nhs number

Zurich. NOT London.

Restrictions on travel till the end of June. Exemptions include viewing/buying a house.

Is it time to buy an apartment?

The new laws will expire on 30 June - though Health Secretary Matt Hancock suggested foreign holidays could be allowed before that date, from 17 May at the earliest. But he told Sky News it was "too early" to pre-empt the decision on that.

The likelyhood is People wont be able to travel 1.if you have to quarantine 14 day breaks then become 24days off work 2.if they say proof of vaccination children wont be vaccinated this summer 3.proof of a negative test and you use a travel corridor clearly you would have to test negative returning home also so any returning passengers who test positive on return employer wouldn't want to pay them to isolate so you risk no pay for 10 days if a couple the =20 days pay lost .

Would like to try and clarify the scary headlines in the media today. Currently the rule is to ‘stay at home’ in the UK. This is being relaxed on Monday to ‘stay local’. Therefore a law needs to be put in place to stop holiday travel abroad as this won’t be covered by the 'stay at home' message. The law is being implemented until 30th June. However (and this is the important bit) it still stands that May 17th will be the earliest we COULD travel abroad. Nothing has actually changed as it stands. It’s not a ban on all travel abroad until 30th June just the flexibility to allow it to happen if needed. Hope that helps?

Government advises make a recommendation on 12th of April as to when we can travel abroad I assume it will be very similar to last year with travel corridors in place depending on the infection rate in individual countries but no travel before the 17th may. We did not have vaccinations last year but many people got away so we are in a better place this year so what makes people think you will not get away this year

So just calm down and have a beer

Yes that does help, thank you. They are giving an announcement on April 12th, regarding holidays, so things will be clearer and we can start to plan our holidays

So one step back one step forward. Spain are removing the travel ban for the UK on the 30th of March.

So maybe having a look at this after what the Uk government have said makes way more sense now. The UK government don’t want anyone traveling outside the Uk before 17th of May (at the earliest)

Also Montero Said she is hopeful of a positive announcement by Boris Johnston on April 12th

If everyone behaves and follows the rules and the vaccine keeps going as it is foreign holidays WILL be allowed this year.

Keep calm and book a holiday!

Sadly as of yesterday the numbers are starting to creep up again ! We are down south in Andalucia north of Malaga, we are a long way off the vaccination level of the UK, but talk of opening the boarders on the 17th of May, just have to watch and see what happens?

We live in the Canaries and can confirm categorically it has absolutely nothing to do with the EU. The Spanish government makes decisions based upon what they think is best for the country as a whole, and the Canarian government, and indeed each island, can make small variations to these rules. The EU has no say.

As many on here will know, I'm no lover of the EU and would gladly stick the boot in if it was down to them. But in this case it's not.

The EU may be responsible for the lamentable vaccine rollout across Europe.

However lockdowns and restrictions in Spain (and the other member countries) are decided by the national, and in some cases local, government.

For once the EU are innocent.

They need to up there vaccination program, the quicker they do it the better chance “ normality “ can come back, what’s stopping them from doing this , the EU

The other thing to remember here is the traffic light system. We had similar last summer, it’s just got a more ‘understandable’ description now. Booking to go abroad on holiday ( and I probably will when everything is clearer) will still run the risk of a destination being moved from green/Amber to red at any point, causing a scramble for flights home.
