We go every July and find it a quiet month to be honest, there for 2 weeks at the beginning of the month, 1st week with vanilla friends and 2nd week on our own and hoping to be able to enjoy company.

Yea we found that there were still opportunities for having a good time though. We have got some good friends with benefits out there now. Maybe if we do book we'll see you in the bar or club x

Us the same . Last week in June , 1st week in July normally. There’s always enough people around to have a good time . That said we’ve deferred our fortnight again this year. Can’t see either of us having had both jabs by then , plus the uncertainly on the island. Fingers crossed we maybe able to get a week , 10 days in October .

Certainly going to miss it !

At the moment we think there is a quarantine you have to complete, we’re due out there 1st Saturday in July for 2 weeks, but if quarantine continues we’ll change our flights home so we are there for 1 week to allow us back to quarantine.

Currently still a quarantine on return, we hope that in the next update that the Canary Islands will be judged separately from mainland Spain. Hopefully they will go green as their epidemiology data should meet green standards.

Perhaps don't try booking for a couple of days as it's four nights minimum I recall. most days are the same apart from the bbq days.Of an evening everyone tends to leave and taxi it to the Cita and Yumbo @ 5€ which is a shame as it's got all you need onsite with the restaurant, bar and playroom.

I've just had a read of several newspapers, I can't find anything saying that the Canaries won't be moved to the green list, quite the opposite in fact. But I suppose we wait for Thursday to find out.

Would be interested to know where the information came from though.

So what they mean is the independent did not name the Canaries. Very different from saying the Canaries will not be on the green list. As every other paper is saying the Canaries will be on the green list.

So one newspaper never said the Canaries will be on the green list. Now that means they will not be?!?!? Also note all week the independent has been saying we will be on the green list.

The express doesn’t mention either the Balearics or Canaries as possibles so there is a lot of guesswork going on I guess. I wonder if you really want British tourists though with the Indian variant causing more cases and hospitalisation over here?

I must be reading a different newspaper as they state that some EU islands are under consideration in todays article. Here's the link to the Express.

It's not really a question of if the Canaries make the green list, but more a question of whether the Islands are evaluated independently of Spain. In this scenario it is unlikely that the Balearics are put on the green list and Canaries not.

Shapps has said they will be evaluated independently but it depends whether Biosecurity feels that there is sufficient detection of variants. Right now the IA7 is 32.91...

There is no clear indication of which countries will or won't make the cut, however, some areas are doing better than others in terms of Covid cases, vaccinations and response to variants.

Potential green list countries include

Malta

Finland

Grenada

The Cayman Islands

Fiji

The British Virgin Islands

Antigua and Barbuda

St Kitts and Nevis

Turks and Caicos Islands

Anguilla

And some EU counties islands could also make the cut, including

Canary Islands

Rhodes

Kos

Zante

Corfu

Crete

One thing i can see here is some have invalid opinions on somewhere they don't even want to go to or even consider going to. In fact it comes accross as a creation of jealousy and a potential downfall in thier ability to relate to any given situation as it is presented.

Hope I am wrong but personally I don’t think the UK government are likely to open up travel at all until after the Summer school holidays. The risk of letting so many unvaccinated schoolchildren and young parents travel abroad is probably too great. Hopefully things will be good September onwards though.

I hope that you are wrong. This is now political meddling by the government, they want us to spend our money this country. If they were really serious about opening up travel then they wouldn't have sent out mixed messages regarding amber list travel and would have sorted vaccine passports out for people who have received both vaccines. Absolute shambolic! We already know that the newer delta variant is even more transmissible than the Kent variant but we aren't seeing a large spike in hospital admissions.. The vaccine is working, let us get back to some form of normality.

We are all booked, 14th we fly if hotel is open.

Prepared to pay for tests, isolate for 5 days and pay for the test to allow this when we come home.

We will feel safer in GC than Cornwall which is already seeing an influx of visitors who do not follow guidelines.

Happy days for us ..... just need to escape

¡Hola tod@s! Hope everyone has a fabulous vacation! I'm there from the 6th July till 3rd August.

Staying in a privately rented villa to avoid problems with hotels not opening on time etc

There to visit some vanilla friends but will be escaping most nights to the bars and clubs to enjoy the company of like minded couples and single ladies.

Hope to see you there!! Shall post when I arrive to see if anyone fancies a drink and sharing local knowledge xx

Whilst we don’t expect it to be on the green list there is a chance we may go at the end of July however only if we thought clubs would be busy and worth attending.

We love Venus Star too and can’t imagine it’s overly busy right now sadly.

The fact that some places are closed has the effect of makimg the places that are open busier. Word is that Venus is quite busy with LM being closed. Apparently Secret is also well attended.

Bear in mind that GC is on the green list of other countries.

I'll let you know, we'll be there for the first 2 weeks of July. The Canaries is on the green list for Germany, Netherlands etc. The EU green pass for vaccinated travellers should be in place for July 1st so we expect it to be quite busy, just not with British tourists.

Been here for 3 weeks now and here until August.

Getting busier by the day and now bars and clubs can stay open until 2am. Woooohoooo

Met other nationalities aswell as the English too.

Hopefully it will go green for the Brits on the next update in line with our well respected neighbouring countries.

We will still take a PCR test before we travel, for our own peace of mind. Although double jabbed, there is still a very small chance we can pick up and transmit the virus, especially as the Delta virus seems to be increasing in this country, it's just an extra precaution.

It looks like the CEO"s of several airlines and CEO of Manchester Airport are apparently launching high court action against the government next week in relation to the lack of suitable countries on the travel green list. The Balearic and Canary Islands now have lower covid rates and gaining momentum with vaccinations.

Hopefully this will put pressure on the government to realise that their current path isn't transparent and does not make logical sense to keep Gran canaria off the green list. Hopefully it will be added to the green list on 29th June.

My understanding is you don’t need one however most hotels are stipulating you have one - for now anyway.

Not sure if the vaccination helps or not. Seems to be moving quickly the rules etc so perhaps see what the situation is nearer the time you fly. x

Double vaxxed for at least 15 days prior to travel means you do not need to test. Your vaccine certificate is also valid for your accommodation. The information can be found on the Gran Canaria government website.

"Can anyone on the ground in GC confirm the current rules regarding where masks need to be worn? By the pool? on the beach? In the street?

Thus was the update from BiNaturist a couple of days ago on another forum thread. We're not in PDI until Thursday...

Just an update as im here now in pdi.

You don't need a pcr to fly back to the uk. An antigen is allowed and sufficient as long as it meets the % requirements. And they do. At a cost of around €25 where yiu get the certificate too.

Bars are now open until 2am including clubs.

Masks on the street are not required from Friday 25th june.. but still carry as shops still require them.

Sun is hot beach is sandy and the sea is wet...

What you waiting for

Masks do not need to be worn outside where social distance rules can be followed.

If you go inside, a shop, bar etc, masks on.

Sititng at a table to eat and/or drinks no mask but must be put back on when you leave the table.

Jet2 aren’t flying to the Canary Islands at the moment. They recommence flying to Gran Canaria on the 19th July

Had email today off them saying they are not flying to any countries on the Amber list. Giving us full refund.

"Looks like Jet2 won't fly to Amber countries and waiting for government announcement on 15th July to see if on green list. The day we fly phah. Gutted.....

Tui are still flying to gran can. I'm flying on the 12th July and no word of cancellation... Yet lol

Where are you flying from, we have to fly from Bristol and they don't start flying until 22nd July. We don't want to risk easy jet and air bnb as nightmare to get money back....

Flying from Manchester. The flight is still going ahead eventhough I had an email today stating that they've changed the aircraft to a smaller plane. X"

Bit too far for us, we're in cornwall. Enjoy you lucky bugger. We are gutted

It’s always a gamble but have you looked at doing it separately?

We have booked Venus star (inc breakfast) direct with hotel and flights with Ryanair from Luton (not our first choice airline but will do) and it was about £1,000 for 10 nights for the two of us total.
