Hopefully, as it looks like we will be pretty much out of lockdown, by 21st June, you will have a good chance of going, subject to the requirements of the destination countries, Covid tests, vaccinations |

On our last visits to GC, we have been out nearly every night. Sometimes Diamond bar or Pirates in yumbo. But mostly come back bar and after at fun 4 all in Cita until early hours |

Hi guys, whats the current situation in pdi, we are looking to book a week from the 1st of August. Is everywhere open? Is there people around? Or is everything closed including shops and restaurants?
Thanks in advance |

As residents in GC we see things from our own perspective. For instance if Yumbo is empty we don't really know.
Are places open? Well not every single place is open but there are enough hotels, bars, restaurants, shops etc open to provide you with options and a great holiday. On top of that a few new places are open that weren't there before...
Are there people around? Definitely. Not as much as in "normal" times but bear in mind we are coming out of what has always been the "quiet season" anyway. Having less places open has the effect of making places fuller if that makes any sense.
It's not the "normal" holiday we're all used to. But it's still good and getting better every week. We haven't spoken to anyone who has regretted coming over since Spain opened up again. |

Macclesfield (Cheshire) & Murcia (Spain) |
Had a week in Spain in early June, few issues.
Long weekend mid-June, again no issues
Back from another long weekend yesterday, no issues.
Granted flights noticeably fuller and still seeing people declined departure in UK and also in Spain due to them not getting their paperwork and tests sorted, recorded with airline, etc.
So if NHS App, can prove Vax status, but apply online and get letter only takes 5 days, scan and upload.
Do Spanish 'locator' 2 days before fly - I print mine and usually 1st through Medic check and passport whilst bothers try and find their stuff. (Last Friday 6 mins from stepping off flight and being outside airport)
2 days before come back, find local spanish pharmacy and 30 euro test, upload. The book Day 2/Day 10 tests, then do UK Gov locator and uplaod.
If your flying back into Mcr, rather than airport test centre, private firm across road from T1 in one of the hotels is lot cheaper.
Hope that helps |

Will Gran caneria now go Amber plus?
I'm sure we all hope not but what are the implications if it does?
Will the airlines cancel flights?
Do you have to isolate for 10 days or 5 with day 2 and day 5 negative covid tests?
Will playa del ingles be empty?

Over the last few days the infection rate has flattened out a bit. After racing quickly up to 800-ish a day it has been at 600-ish. Too early to say though...
The response to the rise in infections has been to vaccinate like crazy. At the moment 10% of our double jabbers have been infected and 17% of of single jabs infected.
Initially the big problem was that many 20-29 year olds weren't keen to get vaccinated, but that has changed and this age group is improving rapidly.
We now have 70% of our +16 years olds with one shot and with many of these being Pfizer we expect this to mean a 70% of fully vaccinated by mid August. So we think an amber plus would be a bit hasty.
As it is, even being at level 3 doesn't affect the hospitality industry the way it used to. |

Nothing has changed yet but apparently the UK government are monitoring Spain and Greece and considering placing them on the Amber plus list, just like France is.
It's because of the Beta variant. |

We already cancelled ours for this reason. We were due to arrive a couple of days before the next travel update. The uncertainty of it all and the extra cost and disruption if we do test positive made it less and less appealing. Hopefully next year will be more predictable |

The one glimmer of hope is the uk government have just announced that fully vaccinated from the USA and Europe will be able to travel here from the 5 August without quarantine.
Hopefully if the fully vaccinated can travel to the UK from Spain without quarantine, then surely we can travel to Spain and also not be required to isolate for 10 days.
Let's see what the next travel update brings. |

We also strongly think this is just press speculation and we most definitely won't cancel unless it goes Amber plus.
It has been all over Sky News online for weeks now, so it has been concerning but yes, until it happens its still Amber. Nobody should cancel there holiday, let's all hang on for the next travel update.
Here's to fun days and nights in Gran Caneria. |

The restrictions are laughable. I’ve got no vaccine and don’t plan to, paid for my test fit to fly pcr’s (forked out few hundred for them) and will isolate back in UK. Ordered rapid antigen test, morning of midnight flight out Las Palmas results in half hour. When Hancock & every other royal gets different rules, I know it’s up to me to switch it up or follow obsolete rules |

Please don't be put off by speculation. At the moment we are Amber. Our numbers are going down too. Vaccine numbers are up and still rising.
On Monday we will know if hospitality businesses can open until 02.00am which will help ALOT of businesses over here.
Until there is firm news etc and you follow the guidelines while travelling here (locator forms and such the like) there is nothing to worry about. Miss Eden_GC Xx |

Our flights are with TUI, there still on for 23rd August.
The UK government will be making an announcement about any changes this Thursday 5th August. We think spain will stay on the Amber list. So that means as long as you are double jabbed and book your tests, it's all good.
It's always possible to change airlines and get over to gran caneria. |

Just the UK government doing a u turn again. Ministers on TV talking about putting some countries on a Amber watch list. Then Boris came out and said he has scrapped the idea.
Good old Boris.
It's still all good, still waiting for this Thursdays announcement on travel. |

"For the people currently out there.
Is it starting to get more busy?
More and more couples seem to be visiting now, so are the clubs getting busier in the evenings now? "
Morning! Yes it's getting busier out here, I can definitely see more people out and about and finding parking is getting more difficult too. As for the bars and clubs, I think because there isn't the ''normal'' amount of people here and there are so so so many places to visit and we all have the same opening and closing time, the people are being spread quite thinly, so it looks more empty than it actually is....if that all makes sense? Lol.
Bu over the next 2 weeks for sure more people are arriving. Remember July and August are 'quiet season' over here by September and October this place will be rocking!! |
