British travellers will not have to quarantine.

Article from Euro Weekly Newspaper

SPAIN’S Tourism Minister Fernando Valdes has fuelled hopes of a return of tourism to Spain this summer after saying British travellers will not have to quarantine.

The politician has reportedly said Spain is likely to use a vaccine passport system this summer and British tourists will not have to quarantine.

Mr Valdes said: “In Spain, we aim to have at least 70 per cent of the adult population immune by summer so I’d say to British people, ‘Keep open your expectations regarding holidays in Spain. We’re looking forward to welcoming you again’.”

He added, “vaccine passport or similar documentation” would help travellers “regain flexibility.”

YOu will still need a vsccination certificate to get in there also will they have to quarentine when thedy return here?

The way the EU is distributing vaccine might be 2023 before they get 70% vaccinated anyway

I'm sure the UK government will let everyone know nearer the time the rules regarding quarantine back in the UK.

This is good news though. A step in the right direction

Much as it pains me to say it I think the UK governments should leave the borders closed till at least Autumn and get our shit in order. Support our local companies and let things settle down before opening up to foreign travel again. Will benefit us all in the long term. I’m craving some fun in the sun as much as the next person but one week or poor covid restrictions causes months of restrictions to correct it. Here’s hoping we start seeing a big drop in the numbers over the coming months with the roll out of the vaccine.

If the rumours are true this may make summer holidays possible for some but presumably to travel you will need to have received both vaccinations and had a further three weeks to allow the second vaccination to take effect. So if you wanted to travel on 1st August for example you would have needed to have your first vaccination by mid April.

If that’s the case it will rule out any possibility of travel abroad for young families who are the most likely to want to go away in July and August anyway.

At present, you will have to quarantine in a hotel at the cost of £1750 if the country is on the red list when you return to the UK.

If not, you will have to isolate at home for 10 days upon your return to the UK.

Either way, factor in an extra 2 weeks or so, away from work if you travel abroad.

Watching

Just returned to the UK from Spain, negative covid test needed to get through France and into the UK, all paperwork checked thoroughly at tha UK including our self isolation details and two further compulsory covid tests on day 2 and 8 of isolation at home, we have been contacted at home by phone to verify compliance.

No paperwork checked in France but more by luck than anything, plenty of police at the border and on the toll roads, all in all over £650 spent on tests but saved a fortune on eating out ... always look for a positive

Not if the country is on the red list you can’t. Looks like Spain may be added to the red list next week if rumours are true.

What rumors are that? The Island have been split in the eyes of the Uk in any case.

An infection rate of 46.48 out of 100,000 is in the eyes of the Uk government means green.

Lets hope that the government review the hotel quarantine rules for low risk countries otherwise no matter what Spain allows, people won't go because of the time and money wasted on the quarantine when they return.

There is an article on the BBC website from a couple of days ago saying that the list of countries on the red list is being reviewed next week and Spain may be added. We have a place in Majorca so read the Majorca Bulletin and they have also mentioned it.

They've said they want to have fully vaccinated 70% of the population by summer. At the moment they're still following the guidelines of making sure people are getting the doses - more people are actually fully vaccinated here than they are in the UK.

Hopefully if things continue to go well in the UK then they'll follow the same and start getting more people vaccinated with just the one dose.

To be honest in the summer here in Malaga things were somewhat normal anyway. Bars and restaurants were open til 12 etc. Even now they're open til 6. Differs from region to region though.
