Thought it might be good to have these in one place, rather than searching lots of different threads

So with the travel corridors opening up for the islands, lots of people looking at booking their holidays.

We have had some great reviews and information from people out there and from those recently returned, so any additions would be appreciated!

Which bars/clubs open...recommendations for eateries..hotels that are still closed etc...also ask your questions here and good luck with your bookings

Just a quick question does anyone know how you get a test prior to travelling?

Read somewhere that canarian tourist agency is funding the tests ? But cant find any official information

I've emailed the canarian health authority and no reply

I hope they get it sorted as soon as possible as we will book a week once it's introduced as we will feel safer mixing when we get there.

I'd assume they should have had it in place before allowing people from one of the worst infection rates in Europe.

This has been covered elsewhere, however, IF a neg test is required in near future, it is extremely difficult to get one in the timeframe that is being mentioned (48hrs)

The latest "news"is everyone will be tested when checking in a hotel ( no idea about airbnb and so on) as the airport rejected the idea of on arrival. I just wish they decide and announce it

With the reduced restrictions on travel, therefore more visitors to PDI. Can anyone advise on the hotels reopening?

Also, any indications on the reopening of the clubs?

Surely testing at the airport would make more sense, people could be going anywhere, once they left the airport

Quick question

We've moved our booked 2 wks to 2021 but still have it booked of work so now thinking of a last minute break for a few days as flights seem very cheap atm.

this morning I've read on line the government now have a plan B in place and if numbers don't drop they will take us into full lock down by mid to late Nov

If there's any truth in this could we still travel to GC under a uk lockdown if we've already booked and paid

I would doubt very much that you could travel on holiday, under a full lockdown, it would be classed as non essential travel. Tricky one, isn't it?.

Of you book a package and you can't fly because of restrictions you'll get a full refund

If you book flights only it's unlikely you'll get a refund

It’s only about £20 to cover your flight to get a full refund if you need to cancel your flight. Well it is with Ryanair

Been here since the 5th October. Bit quiet but most places are open. Met alot of other people and had some, non play, fun.

Nice to connect with others of a like mind. Feel safer here than the UK, masks, washing hands/sanitizing hands, distance from others.

Temperature taken every other day when going from place to place.

If you can come over to GC....THEN DO! Spend your money and help the island and beautiful people of GC!

London

We were in GC last December for New Year's Eve.

One piece of advice we would give is this...pack some warm clothing.

It gets cold in the evening; not just chilly but cold!

And if you are out and about with v few clothes on after 7pm then you will really suffer!

And most important...

If you are at Venus Star and the sun is going down make sure you have some warm clothes/jumper/leggings to put on, otherwise your sexy day will come to an abrupt end due to chattering teeth and shivering bodies.

This was learnt through hard experience last year.

I don't think they have been open with Europe being closed for travel. But I think Moonlight may open up when the numbers pick up, if they aren't already open.

Yes you go across the bridge and down the stairs.

(PS during non covid times there's an awesome Pizza/Hambuger place as you come over the bridge that is open to stupid O'Clock for when you come out with the munchies in the wee hours)

Eternity is closed at present.

Just down from Maclennans is the Gran Canaria Princess Sentido. No naked tanning but many go topless... (and the ladies too). It's adults only. It's also very affordable. Closed for covid.

Lots of shops around as well as pharmacy. There's a great steak house across the road. Immediately outside the hotel is a taxi rank (although if you just wait outside a taxi comes by soon enough). It will cost you about €3 from there to Yumbo and circa €8 from there to the Maspalomas Lighthouse.

"Didn’t realise maclennas was that close to gran canariia Princess.....that’s handy to know

So is it on the main road just above the hotel then"

Yes there's just one Hotel in between, and you're there. We usually stay at Princess so it's nice to have facilities so nearby.

Hopefully they will confirm... I think it's the bars near the supermarket? "

Yes there's great restaurants/tapas bars all up the strip. There's a huge supermarket on the corner that's just been done up. Nice to get drinks and snacks for your room if you're staying at the Princess.

And jimmy at the Irish bar next door if you like live music "

Jimmy is a brilliant guitarist, he seems to be able to play and sing anything you request !!.... spent hours in there listening to him... don't know if they are open now though.....

So with all you lovely people going out and already out in PDI, I'm sure others will appreciate any updates... Are the larger hotels starting to open yet? Normally quite a lot of Scandinavians go in November, hopefully they will boost the numbers

I read somewhere that there was a process being discussed and was to be introduced from the 10th November that involved necessary tests?

Yes from 14th November, if you are staying in licensed accommodation you have to provide proof of a negative Covid test, taken no more than 72 hours before you travel.

"Just a quick question does anyone know how you get a test prior to travelling?

Read somewhere that canarian tourist agency is funding the tests ? But cant find any official information

I've emailed the canarian health authority and no reply

I hope they get it sorted as soon as possible as we will book a week once it's introduced as we will feel safer mixing when we get there.

I'd assume they should have had it in place before allowing people from one of the worst infection rates in Europe."

I understand a test regime and policy is coming into place from the 10/11...Seemed a reliable source!

Got this from our Hotel in P.D.I. where we should have been going on 22nd Nov.

WE INFORM YOU THAT FROM 14/11/2020 THE HOTEL WILL REQUEST TO PRESENT THE OFFICIAL NEGATIVE CORONA-VIRUS TEST DOCUMENT UPON ARRIVAL. IF THE CLIENT DON’T HAVE IT, THE ANTIGEN TEST CAN BE ORGANIZED THROUGH THE HOTEL AT A COST OF 30 €.

Think you will find that you need. one before you fly within 72 hrs. The one at hotel mainly applies to those that are already here and are perhaps relocating to another hotel.

We have friends that are in a hotel in maspalomas but are going to venus on the 12th for 4 days and they will require to get the test.
