Grant Shapps has just announced Canary islands to remain on quarantine list. However, he is looking at the rates on an individual island basis, rather than lumping the mainland and its islands together. That's a good thing, so hopefully infection rates might go down in GC, so they can come off the list. |

We will soon be past our own criteria for quarantine. Which means any person arriving in the UK from the UK will have to quarantine for 2 weeks.
It's like wiping your feet on the doormat when you leave the house. |

Hmmm.... "
So will we still be expected to quarantine when we return from a region which has better Covid-19 stats than our own? |

The fact that they have banned only specific Greek islands might be a very positive outlook for the canaries if they can get the cases under control again,
It's really bad for the tourist industry that pretty much every country has blacklisted the canaries but that way I'm sure the cases will fall rapidly and fingers crossed for the winter season.

"But they might ban the British
Now THAT would make sense!
It actually would "
When will those Canarians take a leaf from our book...
1) If someone shows symptoms tell them to stay at home. Don't test them. They will either get better or die.
2) If they die change the cause of death to Pneumonia or Flu. But don't overdo it so the numbers go negative like ours did.
I think Spain is guilty of being too honest. They look bad because they are the only ones. |

PMSL at this stream, great to see sense of humour restored, especially as I've got the flu and feeling sorry for myself, lol (covid test negative by the way)
Next time I go up the drinks isle at Sainsburys I'll be looking for the guy in a hasmat suit looking for a pole |

Not sure that will happen. From an infection point of view, I would wonder why they want Brits there. Our new cases today are almost 2500 and yes I realise they need the tourists there. |

I am sure us Brits will be missed if we start to cancel our bookings. Unlike lots of holiday resorts we tend to book this one in PDI well in advance. Just to make sure we don't miss out. The GC authorities will be aware that any cancellations now by the British will be very hard to fill. I read something the other day that the Germans are being much more cautious in booking their holidays until Covid is sorted. ( Germans are always more sensible and cautious that us). Let's keep out fingers crossed that the airlines don't screw this up for us. I have reserved my accommodation for mid December but am holding back on the flights. |

I think any country dependent on tourism is suffering right now.
I was very pro quarantine when this whole thing started but now that we have a 90 minute test, I fail to see why 2 weeks of quarantine is necessary. Surely if you test negative after 5 days of being in the country then quarantine is moot? |

"Some are doom & gloom on here Let’s be hopefully anyone can get away to here or anywhere "
I get your point but it is a reality. 7 Greek islands have been put on the quarantine list, as from 4am tomorrow, people are paying upwards of £400 each to get home from those islands as some just can't isolate. I hope people do get their holidays, it as you see, things can change over night. |

I agree ,I dont understand personally, why the ppl who have decided not to go bother to constantly post negative things....I do get that we are all entitled to opinions but theres an awful lot that it seems like its all thats getting posted and its the very people who have made the decision not to go....th only reason im checking the forum lately is for updates from people who are actually there and can give accurate information on how GC is at the moment etc.....what,is and isnt opened etc...nothing more |

It's an open forum where people who have differing opinions, comment and I hope you and others get your holidays. We too would like to go, but isolation on return doesn't really work for us |

I never let people know in advance, once the paparazzi get wind of it... well, it's chaos. It's a bit like when people in a crowd break into synchronised dancing. Except I dance to "Careless Whisper" to the beat of "ThunderStruck"... it ain't pretty folks.
Interesting how no one wants to know when I'll be buck naked in Fun4All (that hurts ). I mean on a site loaded with card carrying perverts.... I think I've started a new fetish. No way the Ebola Emergency response team are getting their kit back from me now! |

1 which Sainsburys
2 will you be performing this friday
Now this I would really love to see
I never let people know in advance, once the paparazzi get wind of it... well, it's chaos.
No way the Ebola Emergency response team are getting their kit back from me now!"

everyday I check these posts to see if there are updates from people who are just back or who are there at the moment...and yet, most of the posts still remain info from fabbers who are not over in canaries and seem to have an abundance of time adding numerous daily updates on it all which isnt really informative other than telling people who may have booked how quiet it all is.My interest is purely because we are due to go in a few weeks, and if we get, ill give a bit of info on here, and then, ill have no need for the daily check to the forum |

My post above is from a bar owner in PDI not someone who is spending a week out there, how much more accurate do you need and what's happening now has no bearing on what may happen in a couple of weeks. These business owners are the one's who have the updated information that will be helpful to you nearer the time, so you won't need to keep checking the forum every day |

All we are looking for is info to make an informed judgement to go or not to go."
As above, the update is from a local bar owner, what more information do you need? |

yip, ive been checking on September, and other relevant posts, but, they tend to get full pretty quickly, im not looking for a crystal ball,or for anyone to see in to the future , just informative, up to date information from fellow fabbers who are in GC at the moment,as it is ever changing. |

I get what you are saying, there obviously aren't that many there who comment if the local businesses are saying it's quiet then it must be,I feel very sorry for them... The problem is, the clubs can't open and any bars who don't serve food, can't open, that may or may not change in a couple of weeks. |

What a ridiculous rant
If you'd used that time a little more constructively you could have made the effort to contact some of the club owners yourself rather than being lazy and expecting others to do it for you.
I know I have been in regular contact with several of the friends I've made over the years visiting clubs and bars and I know for a fact saniss has too.
You're a very rude person. |

I can't predict the future. However I have a fair idea the Gran Canaria and the other isles will still be breathtakingly beautiful places they have always been, with the aame relaxed friendly locals.
When we booked in January we were hoping for a busy swinging holiday with friends we are bringing with us. Now that this has changed we have decided to hire a car (which is really cheap over there) and explore the Island, since we think its a shame we never leave PDI.
So at best we will have an amazing time enjoying something new. Or at the very worst we will ne locked down in our Villa, lying next to the pool and having a BBQ every day. Oh the horror.
Whichever way, it beats working, and the weather is gorgeous this time of year.
If we can't fly over, all 4 of us can put things off until we can.
All I can say is that these are uncertain times and the ability to make the best of a bad situation is going to be an important skill until we have a vaccine. |

If our flight goes we fully intend to sneak into your villa and steal a sausage or too off your bbq dance around your washing pole come back with a tan and make the most of our 12 days in the sunshine. if they don’t let us leave our hotel then as long as we get fed and can get a cold drink and a bit of sun that will do. If all that doesn’t happen and we don’t get to go then we fully intend to sulk for a little while then move on. |

"We have just past it, officially at 21.3 per 100k
Hmmm....
So will we still be expected to quarantine when we return from a region which has better Covid-19 stats than our own?"
It will be ...
Arrive at resort for your 2 week holiday.
Immediately self isolate in your room for 14 days.
Leave room for airport, fly home then self isolate at home for 14 days.
After 14 days at home go to supermarket where half the shoppers don't bother to wear masks, go home, unpack shopping, receive a call from Track and Trace advising of contact with Covid, isolate for 10 days and then.....oh bollocks just stay in.. |

You guys are so much fun I think you would have a good time wherever you go.
It's going to be so great to see you guys again. Seriously, even if we stuck in quarantine when we get back and stay that way for the rest of the year it will be worth it just to see all our amazing friends again. If I was a puppy dog my tail would be wagging
PS. If I catch you dancing on the pole I will join you! You have been warned |

So for an update.
We keep reading about GC being put in a lockdown. Load of bull S***. Las Palmas should of been put in a lockdown a month ago. LP have all the infections just now the rest of the island has very very low infections.
So now the spanish have went back to work and back home at the end of August the numbers now are falling and falling fast. Tuesday they dropped by 50%. Today they had a small increase. But discharged has jumped up today.
France have took the islands off the red list, Germany last night said they will be taking it off the list soon.
Also on Monday afternoon, the tourism ministry said “ a deal with the Uk government was just round the corner”
Yes right now the place is dead, went out round town last night for a meal and some drinks. All we can say is it was busier in lockdown than it was last night.
Anything anyone wants to know just ask and we will try and answer it. But really it changes on an hour by hour right now. So no one really knows what can or will happen.
As it stands just now things are 100x better than it was this time last week |

Thank you for this really positive news!
Tell the ghosts to have their fun while they can because we will be there in force in October and we will be making a lot of noise! No room for ghosts.
PDI brace yourselves! Some of us have 6 months of pent up fun spilling over the top.
Right now we feel like kids waiting for Christmas and you've just made my day!!! |

What’s happened to the police out here , the local police station is closed (by the Yumbo) and I haven’t seen or heard any police cars since I have been here , was at the Yumbo on Tuesday and A bloke got mugged by four Spanish kids with a gun ( maybe fake ) the two guards were telling this bloke who got mugged it’s pointless reporting it to the police as they wouldn’t be able to do anything? There’s no CCTV at the Yumbo which shocked me |

Yes possibly,it's difficult to know what figures to believe
