Folks just be aware when booking that the island is very deserted at mo. A number of walking videos posted recently and no one about but no worrying is that a large number of hotels are closing today 6/9. 8 riu close today. No germans no business sad for the islanders |

They are only closing a few hotels for 2 weeks. They all have sistier hotels. Then they are going to review it. It’s only a few hotels in the grand scale of things. Also CW is like the sun news paper. I would not trust a thing They say. Far better off with canarias7.
There is a lot of reviews coming up this week. ERTE, Autonomos (I’ll not hold my breath on Autonomos) |

"So many are closed , it’s dead out here , 1.30!am and not a soul out no cars nothing , very strange
Are you looking forward to getting home?"
For the first time ever , yes , it’s been a long week , it’s not the same place , it’s a party island with an upbeat atmosphere but sadly not in these times |

I am not worried that the Canary Islands will not be able to make mass tourism safe. Not worried about my accommodation. 50% sure my flights will go ahead...
What I AM worried about is that the rate of infection in the UK will be so high that by the end of September that no one will be accepting travellers from the UK. |

We are having a great 10 days. Yes, it's different, but some bars and restaurants are open, Venus is still getting day visitors as well as staying guests. The partying just starts earlier because of the midnight close. |

I am worried about it too. I am flying with ryanair so 95 % sure my flight ( or some flights from Stansted) will go ahead. I flew with them in July and August. And NOBODY check me ( or my friends) when we had 2 weeks self-isolation after our holidays. |

Yes, with disinfectant sprays for before and after use. Masks when entering the bar, walking between room and loungers, really relaxed atmosphere. X |

And you choose a lounger for the day and stick with that one. The rules are simple and easy to follow. We had a lovely evening last night at the Tipsy Hammock. As I said, it's quiet, it's different, but we are still enjoying it very much. |

Tricky one, I think we're all hoping next year is better, so much uncertainty with the hotels at the moment. |

Be aware that changes to Jet2"flights are different and more costly than earlier in the year!! Used to be if you booked 2 passengers for £600, and your new flights were £700 you paid the difference of £100 plus £70 (2 x £35). Now on flight by flight basis. If your outbound was £150 and now £84 you get no refund. In effect a change over could cost another £132 more than before. Very sneaky Jet2.?? |

Venus is getting busier, the bar is open later, the restaurant is doing chefs specials in the evening and the playroom is most definitely getting used. We haven't left the resort since Saturday, everything we need/want is here, plus taxis are thin on the ground right now which makes going out a pain. We should have been home yesterday, but staying till Sunday. Never had such a relaxing holiday in PDI |

From ecanarynews:
LOPESAN CLOSES FOUR HOTELS BUT MOST STAY OPEN ON GRAN CANARIA
The Canarian Hotel & Resort group Lopesan has announced that it is closing four hotels, two on Gran Canaria and both of those on Fuerteventura “due to the notable decrease in the volume of reservations” suffered after recommendations from the UK and Germany advising against travel to the islands.
The Abora Catarina and Abora Buenaventura hotels, both in Playa del Inglés, Gran Canaria, will close on September 16th, and on the 28th the IFA Altamarena hotel and the IFA Villas Altamarena, in Fuerteventura will follow.

Just telephoned my hotel apartment for my stay on 2nd October. They have assured me that they have no intention of closing. They have only a few guests at the moment but have said they will be staying open. Phew. Roll on 2nd |
