What about the people booking a holiday and not going to a swingers club or bar (thousand more, than us players)
I gather you have no empathy for them?!

We're flying out to Gran Canaria on Thursday, we have been told by Jet2 they will still take us.
We may go to the clubs although I suspect they will be quiet.
It's statistically a lot safer going to a club in Gran canaria than a pub in england and as for be flight, there are less than 50 cases a week in Northern Ireland so it's 1000x safer than taking a bus or train in england.

the elephant being covid 19, the fact that fab has the wit and foresight to ban meetings and the fact that the 2nd wave is expected , how does insurance work now with a uk 2 week self isolation

I think it is only void if you travel to a country that fco advises against. Best to check your own policies. EHIC card still valid until end of year |

Guys,
Thanks for answering a question, that was your own opinion. It may be a valid one, but not yours to answer.
The post creator, should have answered a vague statement... |

What about the bars and restaurants , who are only running at 30 percent on previous years and that figure will now plummet with the 14 days isolation.
There might not be a lot left to visit next year with this virus and the Brexit debacle lots of bars and locals shut down already and who in the right mind will try and buy a business in Spain now ? |

How did it spread in the first place?
People will always find ways of justifying something they're entitled to do or want to do. Whether it's right or wrong is irrelevant in their argument.
Statistics are just that, they often just prove what we want it to prove as we read into them our own narratives.
For those who argue it's safer where they are going are only just thinking about themselves. So basically it's ok for you to take it from UK, which you have just said is far worse, to a safer place and be the cause a spread there?
Anyone traveling shouldn't cry if it backfires and you have to quarantine on return or worse loose holiday because it's cancelled. It's the risk you choose to travel right now.
That's the elephant. |

We were caught up in the Spanish lockdown in March and we’d love to get back there and have the holiday we wanted but right now just seems crazy risky to us. Not just quarantine but airports and flights must be hotspots.
Not travelling until this all calms right down |

Assuming you're quoting me you might want to do further research before you start criticising. Reading the post properly would be a start |

So many people have different opinions and views on this "elephant"
I'm just asking the original poster, to explain what they ment by it as its ambiguous at best...
Up to now they've avoided this, but everyone else hasn't...
Are they afraid of debate?! |

Please show where I've criticised anyone. I've made some observations based upon what has been happening around the world. You seem to have taken thibgs bit personal where no direct offense or criticism has been made. I thought that as a public forum different views were acceptable but to take personal isn't a good way forward.
Please explain your comment about needing further research as I don't follow your statement. |

Like you I think it's admissible to share my views and question the views of others on a forum.

In relation to the islands sky news is reporting that the latest advice came after the government considered " the impact of the requirement to self isolate on return to the uk"
As opposed to the covid risk on the islands |

"Having just returned to the UK from Gran Canaria and now under 14 days house arrest I know which island I feel more safe on and it certainly isn’t the UK "
We are in Spain at our place right now. The way the local municipalities have jumped to Lockdown in some nearby areas was impressive to say the least. We feel far safer here than back in Lancashire as its got one of the highest rates in the UK . |

We were not on a swinging holiday and totally agree with your concerns however the bars and restaurants were all strictly following the rules and guidelines |

Local representatives of The Queen will be round to put the Royal Seal on your door to make sure the house arrest is not broken
..lol
And have to agree. Having returned from Lanzarote on Friday, we feel 100% safer in the islands.
Face masks being worn. Hand sanitizer being used. people respecting the rules and both local and Guarda Police enforcing it.

" hitting malta in 5 weeks for the bpm festival ! Yes probably not the smartest idea I’d be the first to agree but I’ll wear a mask and spend the majority of my time in the Porto loo social distancing !!!! If anything it’s a change of scenery with good music ! Cause I’m contemplating burning my Appartment down at this stage |

I quarantined before I left for Spain 10 days ago, I'm here for a month. I got in my car, sat on a ferry (pretty much stayed in the cabin), then got back in my car and drove 1000km to my own house which is never rented and was empty since February. Am I selfish for going? To be honest it feels safer to be in Spain, everyone is wearing a mask, social distancing is observed and fines are handed out to rule breakers. |

Let me explain the elephant in the room. We are currently sitting in a villa in a mountain in Cabreras where the nearest other villa is 500m away. Went for a trek 2days who passed 2 cyclists all day. Went To Mojacar beach yesterday had about 50m of beach to ourselves. Going to Cabo de gato today expect to find near empty beach to strip off on. In other words the elephant in the room is only as big as you imagine it to be. |

going anywhere is risky, if we could all contain ourselves and stay at home and not riot or mix in bars with loads of others we have a chance of containing this but peoples attitude is weird. We have an apartment at vera playa bought last december we have not even picked up the keys yet but we are staying in UK as we dont think it sensible to travel. I feel as if 12 months of my life is lost but that is better than all of it |

Our personal view on the OP question is we wouldn’t book flights to anywhere specifically to visit a swing club. We work hard enough so our holidays/weekend breaks have swinging clubs/bars as a add on.
That said, we are very cautious around this current pandemic and whilst keeping the risk down to a minimum, we are trying to be pragmatic with our decisions and they are calculated.
Equally, we do think of the bigger picture outside of ourselves and anything we can do with minimal outgoing risk, we will try and support.
As such, we have taken an element of risk with booking for later this year and Gran Canaria is an island we have fallen in love with, and that’s not purely for swinging reasons. We’ve played only a handful of times when we’ve been there.
I think which island is safer is a little irrelevant to each individual journey and there is always a risk in whatever steps are taken.
I believe statistically, Gran Canaria is currently showing it is as safe as anywhere if classed as a region.
So whilst we will have a holiday in the UK in August, come November we feel comfortable that we can spend a significant amount of time eating and drinking outdoors with a nice temperature, which in terms of personal risk, feels to be a better option for us, as it’s likely to be colder here in the UK and more indoor activity.
Granted there’s a quarantine period upon return currently, and we don’t know what the situation will be come November.
Hopefully there’ll be more development but we’ve made decisions based on current information and our holiday will be practiced with the “new norm”.
Should a lockdown be enforced once we’re over there, then so be it; we will have to react accordingly. We’ve experienced a miserable lockdown in the UK with terrible weather and nothing to do. So one on a balcony with the sun and a sangria doesn’t seem so bad. |
