I’ve heard the dunes are out of bounds and you have to keep to the signed pathways. Anyone heard the same or know any different?

Zurich. NOT London.

The dunes have been cordoned off to protect them from damage.

"The dunes have been cordoned off to protect them from damage."

yes the dunes came back to their natural state during lockdown, so they are trying to preserve that, hope visitors will respect that

Yes - they have always been a designated area of natural beauty (or similar) and protected - but it was never really enforced.

Since lockdown they are now patrolling more regularly, both police & officials - even using drones to see people & wait for them as they come out - then fined - according to locals we know

You can still walk through - but staying on roped designated walkways etc.

Know a local guy over there and he has not been on there since March - especially now with new restrictions

I'm glad they are enforcing it

Hello,

I went to the beach last week through the dunes.

Nothing has changed. Less rubbish...thankfully.

Few couples and single men going to and coming back from the beach.

I have said before no one is enforcing it. Lots of talk but it’s not being enforced at all. They came down one day about 2/3 Friday’s ago. Gave out a few small fines and they have not been seen again

it's simple the dunas are closed, the red tops are checking it on daily bases, and give you a fine. your allowed to walk, not laying down

that's how it is today, can change but for now it is....

"Anyone have any update on this thread over recent weeks?"

My thought was, I don't carry money or ID to the dunes and I'm sure many don't so they'll either be fining a lot of "mickey mouse " or escorting a lot of people back to their hotels.

Plus they aren't allowed to get close or remove your mask

Hmmm

Update is always going to be the same. No you can’t play or even walk in them. The truth is the police and the people that enforce the rules are only seen once a week (if you’re lucky) and everyone is still using them to do what they like!

Sadly no one is following the rules.

Carrying ID with you at all times is the law in Spain for both residents and visitors.

Staying out of the Maspalomas dunes is a local ruling in Gran Canaria. In Fuerteventura (Corralejo in particular), roaming in the dunes remains perfectly acceptable.

Hi, glad you got there in the end! Just looking at the webcam, the beach at PDI looks busy, but at night, it looks very quiet. Airport sounds a nightmare...I'm sure we would all appreciate some updates, if you can. Have a great time, at least you have the weather!
