Travel to Spanish home

Hi, we hope to travel to our Spanish villa soon from UK, has anyone experience of how the Spanish police are implementing lockdown? According to sites we've seen, travel to a principal home is allowed, provided you can demonstrate residence (we have NIE numbers).
Our home in Wales is let from the end of May. We don't want to try to travel, just to be turned back. |

Hi Guys.
Our past experience was that we were in Spain when the lockdown started. It had been in force for 4 days when we drove to the airport.
On the drive to the airport (50kms on the N332) we passed 3 road blocks and were stopped on 2 of them. Showed flight tickets to the police and were allowed to continue.
The situation now (as we understand it) is that only Spanish residents are being allowed in, that is with full residencia, an NIE number isn't enough.
Next problem is how you would get there. I'm pretty sure there are no flights between UK and Alicante at the moment and when they are likely to resume is anybody's guess. Some airlines are saying mid June but that is dependant on the authorities allowing it.
We would normally drive down through France next month, but we've checked and that isn't an option and won't be for the foreseeable future.
The situation will become more fluid as time goes on so keep checking for updates.
Once flights into Alicante resume you will have a chance although there will almost certainly be restrictions. Also keep an eye on the Santander ferries. |

We're aware of the goverment rules, it was more about how they are being implemented. For instance, our villa is a principal residence for us in Spain, and we have documents showing we are resident, but would the Spanish police claim it's our second home? |

So you have "residencia"?
If so then you should be OK (if you can get there)
If not I think you will struggle but maybe you are in a grey area so best to check with the Spanish embassy in the UK.
We do know that just an NIE number isn't enough. |

If you do get here dont expect bars and restaurants to be open or shopping centres , they are easing measures but i dont think we will be back to normal life anytime soon .
I think you were lucky you have been locked down in the UK and not here in Spain |

Our spanish neighbour..yes shouted over fence to him...is saying on the news today...the spanish gov is from tuesday going to allow kids back to school and some bars/restaurants to start reopening...any one heard anything!!!! From reliable source!!! |

We are keeping an eye on Spanish news but not seen that one yet. |

I think Sanchez is announcing on Tuesday the de-escalation process.
As mentioned, May 2nd will be the first time we will be able to go out for a walk. Yay!
288 deaths today, the lowest for a month. Though often the weekend numbers are revised. |

Not heard about bars opening at all, think that's a long way off.
Kids under 14 now allowed out to play, no more than 1km from home.
I think further relaxation will drip feed in the period leading up to 9th May but no government will want to open things up too quickly or early.
It's still softly softly in almost every country at the moment.

We’ve been watching this post with interest as we also have a second home in the Murcia region and are planning to travel via France on the 11th May. With what you have just found out, it looks like we will again be making alternative plans. Well done with search this all out, thank you. |

We would normally drive down through France next month. Not a hope in hell, and we have checked.
Just found this, it seems like Germans could be allowed back first.

The news we are getting at the moment from 2 source`s The Olive Press and The Euro News is that there have been proposal`s put forward that from this Saturday could see some restrictions lifted, older people allowed out walking and taking up sports, Running, Golf, Tennis ETC, shops to start to reopen, churches from the 2nd, shops from 11th bars and resturantes from 25th May. |

Yes there was, and with being in 'lockdown' in our holiday apartment in the Canaries for the last 44 days today it will be a process with each stage of it slowly introduced.
In our humble opinion with Spain hard hit by the coronavirus the final piece of the 'unlocking' will be the allowing back of foreigners the tourists and people with holiday homes being the last piece of the jigsaw - and then only by their countries 'then' current situation with Covid-19.

I have a mate who was able to get out of Spain in time, he is a haulage owner/driver. He was saying the Spanish police are handling our €3000 fines, for people who are breaking the covid-19 regulations. |

Presumably it is also not possible to let a house in Wales out at the present time, as holiday lets/second home related trips are not allowed, certainly before 7th May, when our current restrictions are up for review?? |

WE`ve lived here for nearly 20 years. the fines start at 601 Euro up to 30,000 and/or Up to 6 years in prison, 2 weeks ago a guy drinking a bottle of beer in the street got 4 months |

That's currently true. We're trying to plan for what we do when restrictions are lifted. Difficult when there are so many unknowns. |

To be fair, we'd agree completely with the Spanish authorities' approach. They're protecting lives. |

Javea has been pretty strict on people from outside the area, coming over for Easter from Madrid. If you bothered to get your residentia, you should 't have a problem. Just expect a 14 day quarantine in your villa when uou arrive.
You will be under what the rest of us went through in Phase 0 of the lockdown....meaning you stay home, but can visit grocery store, petrol station. And you have a great garden and home, so house arrest won't be that bad. The beaches are not open yet. BUT when they do it will be sparse with people and warm at the same time. All in all, could be a great place to summer in.

Ps. Elche and Alicante have been held back at phase 0, while the rest of Alicante Province went to Phase 1 on Monday. Once their stats change, then they will progress towards getting off lockdown. Mentioned that because there is no travel between provinces right now. And Valencia Airport is in.another.province. So grab your shiny collar, and get your buns back here. |

Thanks. Wales, where we are, is locked down, but we have 40 acres to play in here. Our villa in Javea is great and has a large garden, pool etc. but our Springer Spaniel would go mad witbout her walking a few miles twice a day.
At the moment our thinking is that we'll wait until Spain is opened up more (phase 3?) and spend the late summer, autumn and maybe winter in Javea. |

We have a home in Spain but like you guys can’t travel to it
I did hear Spain is doing the same as here they have or going to introduce a two week quarantine period I would assume they would let you do that at your home
We have resigned ourselves to the fact we will not be travelling to Spain any time soon, but I suppose there’s always next year

End of lockdown in Spain will not be until end of June if infection/death rate continues to fall. Only Spanish citizens and those with residencia allowed in and then have to self isolate for 14 days. Flight may return in July but with 14 day isolation when you get here. |

Yes and it was problem free. Getting in and out of Spain was fine. The return to UK is more the issue with the testing and isolating however if you are returning after 19th July hopefully it will get easier |
