No PowerPoint needed on the hard face of keeping this county going I’m afraid

A rub down and happy ending after shift would catapult you to a key worker supporter though

Important??

Humour is something that people use as a coping skill. Whereas sarcasm can be the lowest form of wit!

No need to reply unless it’s positive. However I’m sure you’ll find it necessary and important to you. Which is fine as long as you find it as such...

I’m a key worker as I deal with gas and electric- I’m dealing now with customers who are in self isolation - the majority are great but you still get a couple of shall we say ungrateful fuckwits

Had a lady yesterday who wanted an engineer at her house within five mins - when I said no she told me to fuck off- had another lady with no power who said that she would not let the engineer in unless he wore a full decontamination suit and a gas mask - when I said I can’t guarantee that she told me to fuck off

People need to realise that life as they know it is gone and they can’t expect things immediately

"Just because you're necessary doesn't mean you're important. "

Everyone has a role to play in everyday life. From the cleaner that empties your bins and cleans your toilets at work all the way up to the CEO. Unfortunately it takes strikes or situations like this for people to realise how important everyone’s job is to allow everyone to work in a clean and safe environment.

Has everyone been asked to ensure their id badge has an upto date picture on it and to update if not?

Wondering if that’s for if/when lockdown comes?

I'm on the key worker list, would rather not be.

Nurse currently working in A and E. I didn't get a shiny new badge - I got a face mask and a bottle of hand sanitizer. Apparently with that I can save the world.

I know it says childcare but useful advice for anyone working in key jobs or in contact with the public..

????Really important for the teachers and childcare workers out there... ????

I know there are a lot of teachers and childcare workers going into work tomorrow

This is a message from an NHS anaesthetist.

Just a bit of advice for you teacher and childcare hero’s that you may want to pass on to your friends/colleagues/staff.

Latest evidence is you are less likely to catch virus from a child coughing but more from things they touch. They are likely to be entirely asymptomatic. So unfortunately virus likely to be all over surfaces. It can also live on skin/hair/clothes. Those with long hair - Tie it up. Think about taking off engagement rings/other jewellery.

If you are doing a shift at school or nursery, as soon as you get in, have a black bin liner ready just inside front door or back door and ensure your washing machine door is open. People can help you get this ready but should stay away during procedure.

Take off your clothes ????and place them all inside bin liner. Take bin liner straight to washing machine. Scrunch clothes into a ball. Do not touch ANY part of washing machine. Door should already be open. Carefully place clothes inside washing machine making sure you do not touch sides.

Go straight to shower. Do not touch door handles and if you have to, ensure they are wiped down after. Wash your body and HAIR thoroughly with soap/shampoo/shower gel.

You should now be virus free. You can go and shut washing machine and put it on.

Cell membranes of this virus are weak so all it takes is soap and water to kill it.

My employer has now given me a choice to decide.

Option 1, volunteer to continue working.

Option 2, go onto the governments corona virus support scheme (Furloughed) giving 80% of my income up to a maximum £2,500 a month.

Up to 3 month with extension possible.

I’ve decided on the second option and will finish up on Friday.

My reasoning is why put myself at even more risk when I can sit in house and get all those jobs I’ve been meaning to do for £20 less a day.

By the time I take fuel costs and other shift sundries into account it’ll work out pretty even anyway.
