I've had to kinda get organised for this.... My wee dude is autistic so schools closing is a massive blow to his routine etc... So I have made sure I have the things he will eat stocked in my freezer, make sure that I know I have activities and tasks that are educational but not like sit down at a table. My thinking is I would rather have all this is place and not need it all than be caught short x |

Go to the supermarket and buy your NORMAL shop.
Self isolation is for 7 DAYS only
Heard yesterday of a family member who has bought 3 months worth of supplies.
Talk about panic |

long life milk dont taste good in tea or coffee
pour some fresh milk into ice cube trays and keep in freezer, then when making a cuppa, just stick a cube or two into your coffee, works a treet |

Self isolation is 7 days ONLY if you live alone. If you live in a household it's 2 weeks. |

I think preparing for lockdown isnt just about food although ofcourse thats important but adults cant survive on basics ..i just hope families with kids are still able to get plenty good food for their kids
Plus i think having to get mentally prepared and trying to make wee kids understand why they arnt going to school and nursery ...this situiation for lots will be a very hard and trying time |

heading out to Tesco now for a lot of fruit
and clear the shelves of Turkey legs for the dogs, not because of panic buying, I always clear the shelves of every turkey leg as the dogs love them and eat them daily |

You think that, but you're making judgement calls on people you know nothing about. I have everything my house needs for a couple of months, but at the same time, I'm looking out for my neighbours, family and community. Because that's how we get through it.
You're tarring everyone with the same "stupid, selfish, greedy prick" brush without knowing the circumstances. Is that really helpful? |

Scaremongering is just as despicable as hoarding. No doubt some twisted souls will be in their element at the opportunity for mischief. I wish everyone the strength to stay calm and just get on with it. We can do it and we can do it without being total bastards to each other. |

"What do people think "lockdown" actually means?"
It means full quaretine, only one person allowed to leave house at anyone time, to go shop, chemist, hospital. Permission needed to leave the borough your in, police and military at Borders, on patrol 24/7 to assure all abide to rules. Fine if caught wandering about. Permission to walk dogs with timings attached and so on..... Limited food supply brought in. Most business shut down. This may include transport industry as military will take over, they already here waiting and training in prep, medics, drivers transporting oxygen and patients etc... |

I hope not but worst case sinario they are training as we speak. Hubby is now changed contracts temporarily to delivering to supermarkets as driver are dropping like flies and calling in sick. This might not be case for all but for those with families if one in household sick all isolated thats includes drivers. Prison if in lockdown and you are caught coughing sneezing and are tested positive.
But this is worst case sinario if people don't adhere. It's a preventative measure just in case. |

The military don't make the rules and this is called martial law and will never happen as you describe it. There is no way that the UK will turn into Nazi germany. |

A lockdown is just that. You ask what people thought a lockdown meant, it means shut down, full quarentine. And what happens when people Dont adhere to rules, ie people trying to get fromm one town to another when told not to without permission, told not to leave the house if sick, one person leaves a house per family to shop etc...
That's a lockdown. Never said it would happen here but I could if people don't listen. Maybe a scare tactic but these things have to be put in place as a precaution because when people panic about foods, family, money, riots can and do happen.
So there is miltarty here for this reason also...
Not in this country but in others who have had shut down due to virus, people have been imprisoned for up to 3 months for leaving the house sick when told not to and been tested to be positive and arrested, those loitering were fined. Its not made up.
I was saying what a shut down was in general. |

Why would you need security.???

I'm saying it could well happen if the virus continues to increase the death rate by double on a daily this will happen, that is what a lock down is.
Government is telling us to isolate to prevent the spread from worsening but on Wednesday UK had 104 deaths, overnight 29 people died, we are at 134 now this is in a matter of weeks that's not going on how many people have actually got it , if isolating doesn't work to reduce the deaths that's what will happen.. Other countries and England are ahead of Scotland so its wait and see what happens the now but military are in because we can't cope right now, if it gets worse it's only way to control.

California are enforcing under marital law as of Tuesday, France are not just heavier stricter shut down and military are not for the moment enforcing curfews.
We just have to wait and see what our government says |

Isolation is for 7 to 14 days. How does this lead to permission slips to leave your house and jail time for a cough?
Other countries may have it but it's people spreading bullshit and getting all their news from Facebook or a friend who used to be in the military or some other loose connection to anyone that works in a uniform.
If California has been put under martial law then expect riots and civil uprising. In a state where the second amendment is so passionately defended, there is no way those citizens are going to be ruled by martial law. |

"Isolation is for 7 to 14 days. How does this lead to permission slips to leave your house and jail time for a cough?

Its not spreading rumours anything we are in isolation just now as are rest of world 7 to 14 days to calm the virus spread , if that doesn't reduce the number of people catching virus and dieing then shutdown will happen, at the moment deaths are double, in one day 29 deaths, when people do not obey ie whole families still going out shopping, still meeting in large social gatherings,go out when sick, if fighting happens in a panic as food is scarce then it will happen.
Alot of ifs before that happens though.
There are already fights breaking out with shoppers in UK and other countries so if it doesn't calm down and people dobt stop panic buying countries will put it in place. Its what they are being prepared for. |

That would be daft, people just throwing out stuff that could happen in event things got really bad. People in other countries saying what's happening to them should also make us think let's not be as bad and do what we can to prevent such craziness. |

And it's not just fab, the whole social media has gone out control. Everyone thinks what they've read or think is facts, it works both ways with those who think it's all daft talk and those who think this is a serious matter and it's going to get worse. Until it happens or it's announced people should just have a way to voice what they think since that's what forums are about.
People are going into a panic regardless of reading things on social media |

I think we should all be a bit more measured and consider if the information we are sharing is actually accurate |

People are panicking that they won’t be able to get things when they go into lockdown but you can still order food online, as you are providing a need for someone else to be on the streets. It will make things more controlled too. |

"What do people think "lockdown" actually means?
It means full quaretine, only one person allowed to leave house at anyone time, to go shop, chemist, hospital. Permission needed to leave the borough your in, police and military at Borders, on patrol 24/7 to assure all abide to rules. Fine if caught wandering about. Permission to walk dogs with timings attached and so on..... Limited food supply brought in. Most business shut down. This may include transport industry as military will take over, they already here waiting and training in prep, medics, drivers transporting oxygen and patients etc...
All for around 12 weeks
You can forget the military taking over transport - they don’t have the personnel. Simple.
Prison if you are in lockdown and you are caught coughing and sneezing? Are you actually mental? This is 100% fabricated bullshit.
That's actually the most outrageous piece of scaremongering I have ever seen during this time. "
FYI, BBC news, guy arrested in Isle of man (UK) for breaking isolation rules.
Pentalities in place £10.000 fine or 3 months jail. Chief minister said.
Those in high risk (list on NHS website) must self isolate for 12 weeks, failure to do so can pose fines.
This may be in Isle of man but its UK and this will be on us soon if not already. |
