Right I'm absolutely rubbish at breaking the ice in a first message. Can chat away to anyone after that and in person I'm chatty aswell but I can never manage to do a decent first message. Anyone else get like this or any tips ?

Why were the two penguins jumping up and down?

Dumfries

Everyone has to start somewhere, first message is always the hardest. A good sense of humour is always a winner.

Shangri-la

A message that shows a bit of personality is key.

"Hi" "How you doing?" type messages generally get ignored unless the sender has a particularly interesting profile.
