Am I the only one that can't wait for Xmas to come and go? The relentless tv ads shoved down my throat about their best ever deals on this and that...shoppers buying enough food drink and to last them a lifetime (do these people not realise the shops are only closed for 12 hrs over the Christmas peroid?)

Next year I've decided to go away somewhere hot and sunny and lie on a Sandy beach with a tequila in my hand and the sun on my back, lol

Does my head in, the sheer greed and keeping up with whoever when there's so much more important things going on. We've totally scaled it back last few years, get the kids of course although they are adults Immediate family smaller gifts and making sure we gets lots of family and friends time. So yes can't wait till it's all over

I like the idea of getting family time together as that's important . But all the stress with shopping n trying to get something people will like is murder. My partner and 1 don't really do presents as we have everything we want n need. We get a wee thing just to open and that's it. Will all change next year as will have a wee rug rat to spoil lol

I really don’t like it. There seems to be such high expectations surrounding it. I make a determined effort to be good to my friends and family all year round so don’t need one day in the year to do so. It’s so commercial, financially draining and challenging for many.

But on that note may I wish you all a very Merry Christmas from Mrs Bah Humbug hahahaha x

Agree, kids are becoming so picky and the stuff is through the roof in prices . Gone are the days that kids would be happy with surprises. Now it's a list with about 5 things each x 7 and a need to remortgage your house so as not to disappoint your kids.nothing cheap these days.

My kids and grandkids get pocket money and something ie :toys, clothes every month and I'm starting to think what is the point in Xmas.

Xmas tree up, looks lovely with all the decorations and lights but when it comes down looks like uv been robbed and run out of bulbs in house.

Love Christmas but like to be organised early. All presents bought throughout the year when I spot a bargain leaving only a few bits and bobs to buy. We make a charity donation instead of sending cards.

Started planning for next year by joining a club to get vouchers/gift cards.

Ohh I wanna be like you but I fail miserably when I go into a shop, my brain turns to mush and i end up buying more milk and bread instead of presents

I'm over it this year and have been since before it started.

If it wasn't for the weans, I wouldn't bother. That said if it wasn't for the weans I'd be better off and less stressed about buying things.

Maybe next year will be the stress free Christmas other people seem to manage.

Last year we did the same asked 2 youngest if they wanted holiday or just loads of pressies. They chose holiday so this time last year we were in lanzerote for a week, weather was beautiful however pools were freezing but kids loved it and enjoyed all the pool paparazzi wanting to photograph them. So I have the most beautiful pictures of my 14yr old and 6 Yr old to look back on plus and lovely holiday, still had pressies at Xmas but it wasn't as much as they asked for this year.

However no holiday this year but I would have been cheaper booking another one.

I don't usually celebrate my birthday bad time of year. Only once before, (for my 40th masquerade party) and with cjs having masquerade I decided we will be celebrating my 43rd at cjs this year. love a wee masquerade party so Xmas better come and go and hogmanay better hurry up.

"I just see it as free time off work all the shopping nonsense, deforestation and poultry massacre doesn't appeal to me."

Surley you know that the trees are planted for the sole purpose of the Xmas market , i have worked in the forestry industry for 40 yr, they are a managed crop and not part of a forest as such, usually Low lying arible land used to grow trees quickly , yes they do cut larger trees for city centres and the likes from forests but these are carefully selected and thinned out of the crop, on the whole it's not the case large swaths of forests felled for the Xmas tree. rant over !!

but I can't comment on the poultry industry?

I quite enjoy christmas, I'm a bit of a feeder and love having a big table of folk round for dinner, I have the tree and a few ornaments but don't go all out anymore with decorations and the kids pretty much pick their own presents and k ow the budget, my health played a massive part in me winding Christmas down and its much more low key than it used to be, I used to do the 2k mile trips visiting family all over etc. Buy this year I am heading to visit my BFF for the weekend after Christmas and prob head to the club down her way while I'm there and she's making us another Christmas Dinner

I also enjoy doing Christmas party games and last year we had a hoot playing pass the parcel with oven gloves a santa hat and dice
