Now I am one so I can say what ah like, the rest of you take it easy 
However... on the news this morning, discussion on whether it's ok to slag/tease red haired folk. One point of view said it's the one thing that seems to be socially acceptable in our very pc world. Is it bullying or not? Why is it all right to make a comment about red hair but not ok to say something if someone is black, fat or bald or whatever else???
Personally I take humour in context and it's the intent behind the comment that matters!
Oh and someone recently brought to my attention a song about being ginger and it's an interesting point that the word makes an interesting anagram re prejudice

I have ginger twin grandsons who are just too cute for words so trust me if anyone bullies them about their hair colour they would certainly know all about it from them and me.
And in answer to yours question is it bullying or not then most definitely it is and it should be stamped out immediately, We all know the issues blonde females have to endure as they are tagged "dumb" but it doesn't give ppl the right to pick on someone because of their hair colour. |

My son is ginger and his mother is too, he’s a good looking lad and I believe his mother still is good looking too, though I haven’t seen her in a long time.
To be honest I think it’s very wrong to be made fun of just because of your hair colour, but some people have to find somebody to ridicule! Though is any different for blondes?? Yes agreed, as I said context is important, I'm the first to make good natured jokes and would hate the world to be so PC we can't have banter. A good example is the battle of the sexes, we all know men and women have their traits and love to wind each other up about them. Context is important (my kids are fkn gorgeous too btw - must be a ginger thing ) |

I used to get bullied when I was wee for being ginger, relentlessly, but as you get older you just accept thats kids for you.

A a red head male growing up I was teased quite a bit at primary school less so at high school.
When I joined the Army I got the proverbial c**t ripped right out me sometimes however it never really bothered me. By the time I was 19 I started to shave my head and for some reason it got darker and never grew back fully.
When I shave it now it’s brown hair 
However my beard isn’t and I can quite happily sport the Viking look no bother.

I was teased terribly at school for being a 'ginger'. Combine that with being a shortie I was bullied too.
Nowadays, I receive nothing but compliments about my hair.
Looking back at my schooldays I do believe it was jealousy. |

Same here on the shortie front and you never get away with ANYTHING because people remember you lol. Most folk with red hair do have a mane so are often quite striking. Perhaps you're right too, perhaps they have gingerenvy |

I must be really lucky or terribly naive but I have never been bullied or name called because of my red hair. Maybe I was and didn't realise it 
My brother was but he was small, red hair, freckles and specs - probably an easy target

No doubt it is discrimination and equivalent to teasing someone on the basis of their skin colour. Some people think its funny and ironically I have even witnessed black people make this mistake before. Would say incidents of this type of bullying are lesser now than before due to it being taken more seriously.

I was teased at school but had to stand up for myself and fight back , then I only had a couple issues after that. I don't promote fighting but they knew they couldn't get away with it. |

Bully’s pick on anything but being ginger is sometimes an easy one... yes it’s part of life you learn to stand up for yourself. Especially in such situations. Standing up to a bully is vastly different to starting a fight agreed my fellow ginge |

This is a very good topic to raise.
Within society now it is not acceptable to make comment on people’s weight, sexuality, colour, gender etc, the list is quite extensive to the point we are now having to call Manholes : Maintenance holes
However that being said, the ginger teasing remains as acceptable as ever. Just fairly recently on tv GMB had a ginger Scottish Labour (I think) member on discussing how Churchill was a racist and the hosts of the show went in on him with both feet hitting out with the ginger remarks heavily. Carrot topped idiot, ginger fool etc. All deemed fully acceptable insults
Doesn’t sit right with me tbh. It’s bullying, I can take it but a kid of 8 years old doesn’t |

Within society now it is not acceptable to make comment on people’s weight, sexuality, colour, gender etc, the list is quite extensive to the point we are now having to call Manholes : Maintenance holes
However that being said, the ginger teasing remains as acceptable as ever. Just fairly recently on tv GMB had a ginger Scottish Labour (I think) member on discussing how Churchill was a racist and the hosts of the show went in on him with both feet hitting out with the ginger remarks heavily. Carrot topped idiot, ginger fool etc. All deemed fully acceptable insults

I didn’t see that but yes this is exactly the thing I mean. It’s one of the few minorities that’s acceptable to belittle. Thanks for the comment, think we all know that the point is there’s a huge difference between ribbing someone and bullying but this is a good example of the media setting a bad example |
