15 threads on the 1st page with under 10 replies, most have zero replies. Shows how piss it is these days.
Think a wee holiday into the lounge is needed.

Ok I’ll go for it... in my opinion (folk have theirs too that’s respected) forums are for discussion which should broaden the mind and the outlook. That’s fine best when people discuss something with an open mind and good humour. I think the opinionated and confrontational approach of some posters is not only narrow minded it stifles responses at times. Just my opinion, ya did ask

Honestly the Scottish forum is not a very welcoming place a lot of the time.
Drama, bitchiness, sly digs at people and generally not much fun.
The inane drivel is sometimes a welcome break from that. There are too many who can't cope with differing opinions, so any serious topic can quickly escalate into something pretty uncomfortable to watch!
And don't get me started on the entitlement of some people and the amount of smoke that gets blown around.
There's also an awful lot of people who seem to forget that this is a website and not real life!

From a relative newbie’s perspective, the Scottish forum simply doesn’t have a big or diverse enough group of active users to make it interesting or, dare I say it, fun. I don’t think there’s a solution per se, it’s just symptomatic of the size of the pool. There are good threads here, and good people, and we’ll happily hang about here and see who’s about and join in where we can. I suppose it depends what you want out of the forums too - a diversion from real life for a bit or a place to spend an extended period of time; I’d imagine it would feel very different to each of those types of users. Anyway, have a good day fellow Scots Mr. |

I do agree with lots of what you say sinders but i dont think the bitching is as bad as it used to be . My original post was more about the subject matter.
One thing that does bug me is when a discussion about any particular subject or point suddenly gets put down by the heros and white knights of the forum posting comments like " oh its another argument" . Like they are above defending or discussing a point of view. I always say a discussion ends where the insults start. Normally its the white knights throwing the insults at the people having a discussion. Happy foruming everyone, lets get those 'discussions ' going. |

As for it being " thier forum"
Not having a dig here but you bring cjs into topics that aint got anything to do with the topic.
My point is merely the fact we ALL do it. Some bring cakes into topics or coppers lol. I think it happens because it always sparks a bit of fun or controversy. Like i say we are all guilty of it , not because we think its our own platform. Like i say not a dig just an opinion on your post. |

We all know folk that get all hot n bothered if called out lying we all know folk that run to their mod mates when they have lost a "debate" to get folk a time out or even banned.

This is a website, it has been for years and will be for years if you are here or nit here.
Too many people hide behind their fabs persona behind a keyboard, too many dramas and people too embroiled in this fab world they create which isn’t even real life. Seen it all over the last 10 years of being on here, never changes just new faces new dramas.

Very good point FF
I come on because i have a fantastic job but millions of free time in it. Hours at a time to kill. Plus nightshift so awake all night and only need few hours sleep. MSD works very hard and needs lots of sleep so i dont get lots of interacting time with her. Its good to come in here and chat with other like minded people. |

Dont change how you use the forums just because other people dont like it. Its your platform just as much as everyone elses. If they dont like it they can jog on. Being yourself is not a bad thing at all, everyone can be an ass on the forums at times but meet them in person and they might just surprise you, or you them. |

Dont change how you use the forums just because other people dont like it. Its your platform just as much as everyone elses. If they dont like it they can jog on. Being yourself is not a bad thing at all, everyone can be an ass on the forums at times but meet them in person and they might just surprise you, or you them.

It's easy for them to pretend to be something they are not from the safety of behind a phone screen or iPad.
It's the only place they are comfortable. |

its suprising that folk dont see this is the very reason the forums are in this state. too
many have no thought for other users only their own motivations. if a forum post is having folk discuss topics from diffrent angles and a few start drivelling on about the price of knickers it wrecks the whole post.

It used to be the Scottish chatroom was the place to be. However, with the advent of more mobile use to access the site, following the chats was much harder. Especially for a Luddite like myself.
The Forum here is definitely struggling though and I know I'm spending less time checking it. Take away the pegging requests, blatant CJs ads and posting for the sake of it threads and youre not left with much to comment on. In addition, you're getting a lot of in jokes between same folk cluttering things up.
Speaking to folk away from the forum I know there are a lot of lurkers afraid to comment for fear of getting picked on.
I'd suggest a limit of 10 forum posts a day! Quality not quantity. |

It is quite hard to start an engaging post as there are so many different personalitys on here with different interests.
There are no right or wrong ways to use the forum, if there are no topics that interest you start a new thread.
I agree with people going off topic which I personally have done on many an occasion ut that happen in all forums whether it be a gaming, cooking, sex or stamp collecting its public people will say and do what they want |

All very well and good Graham but this is an example of bemoaning others yet doing nothing yourself to make it better.
Why not you start 1 of the 10 you suggested and make it more engaging. He to find problems , harder to fix them. |

It's peaks and troughs for me with threads
I'm not a joiner inner on the fun fluffy ones and I can't get on board with the brash patter on some of them .
