So I have been taking photography classes over the last few months, the most recent one was Boudoir.
So on Saturday night my wife had a few friends round for drink and she showed them my pictures from my class, one of tge ladies asked if I could shoot her and me with a few drinks in me feeling cocky said yes.
I have now realised the pictures where only good cause I had a professional model and instructor now I have to try and bluff I know what am doing   |

You'll be fine. The main thing I found when doing studio work when I first started out is knowing what way to get your model to pose. Google boudoir pictures to get ideas and write down the positions you're going to get her to do. Be prepared and you'll do it no bother.
Why don't you practice on your wife beforehand and you'll see what works and what doesn't |

Modern cameras are fairly forgiving, then there is always photoshop. |

Modern cameras are fairly forgiving, then there is always photoshop."

Take your time, make sure she is comfortable and at ease. Avoid Booze.
Depending on how much flesh is on show, make sure the room is at an appropriate temperature.
Remember, everything is digital these days, so you can shoot away to your hearts content. Unlike the days of 24/36 shot film rolls.
One thing, with the digital - offer to use a data card she supplies, so that she takes it home. That way she has full control of the images.
Unless you have a signed model waiver in place. |

Am i the only person here thinking that your wifes friend wont really be interested in whether the pictures are perfect or not. Im thinking she may have alterior motives behind this photography session. Curious to know if shes single or married and will your wife be present for this photo shoot.

In this day and age, you can't be too careful around digital images. See previous threads re: mobile phones and unacceptable behaviour.
Just because she's your wifes friend now, doesn't mean she will be in the future.
Also letting her have the data card means she retains full control over the images and reduces the chance of accidental release (not that you would) and builds an additional level of trust in you.
But of you want to retain some images, then I would suggest some form of paperwork wpuld be a good idea.

I think it's a good suggestion as it might make her feel more at ease, but at the moment neither her or I have requested this.

Lol. I've been doing it for years . Trust me it's going to take a while to get the light pose editing ect right. Doing portraits the hardest thing is doing full body. Think out the box.Try shooting before the pose makes the image more natural. |

What am afternoon that was, we started off a bit awkward but after about 30 minutes she was right into it and enjoying herself, we where googling posses to do.
Took over 500 pictures some good some bad but was all part of the learning experience |

As long as she wasn't paying you and she knows your still learning then use it for what it was, A free practice shoot You didn't mention, or I missed, what type of lighting you were using and what editing programme. Just be happy your wife is OK with you shooting her friends and as long as she is willing to keep supplying free models then learn with each shoot. |

Just be happy your wife is OK with you shooting her friends and as long as she is willing to keep supplying free models then learn with each shoot."
I bought a beginners light kit from amazon that came with a white ,grey and green back drop.
As I used to make YouTube videos I already have Adobe Photoshop and lightrooms.
My camera is a Pentax D70, I used a 50mm and shot most the pictures at iso 100 with shutter speed between 1/60 to 1/250
She has shared 2 of the edited picture online with positive feedback do far

Just be happy your wife is OK with you shooting her friends and as long as she is willing to keep supplying free models then learn with each shoot.
I bought a beginners light kit from amazon that came with a white ,grey and green back drop.
As I used to make YouTube videos I already have Adobe Photoshop and lightrooms.
My camera is a Pentax D70, I used a 50mm and shot most the pictures at iso 100 with shutter speed between 1/60 to 1/250
She has shared 2 of the edited picture online with positive feedback do far
