That's awful OP, a lesson learned though I imagine. All a hotel needs is card details, they won't take anything from it unless you don't turn up and a non refundable deposit was made clear or there's damage to the room. My rule is that you only book a hotel that lets you cancel right up to the day and share the cost when meeting. Some folk are just downright rude! |

"Guessing she had a different account"
Sounds like you have been scammed. Look on the bright side... it presumably wasnt very much and you havent trusted her with your life savings. The fact you sent her anything without meeting her or really knowing her would suggest you are very susceptible to being scammed.
Learn .... and dont let anyone do it to you again.
Thanks for sharing though. Its good to know that sort of thing is happening on here so we can all keep an eye out for it. |

Ouch, personally I book my own room and don’t rely on anyone else doing it unless it’s someone I know well, I don’t tend to split the room I just pay for it and if they want to book next time then so be it. Means if we don’t get along so well I can kick them out lol |

And on your birthday aswell that's shit!!
Cant believe someone would let you pay for a room they have no intention of turning up too, then not have the decency to even message to say x
Hope your day gets better X

Poor show, single guys are viewed as a cash cow on here and exploited at every turn, get a hard time which ok is fair enough because most of us are raging hormones, but even clubs take the piss etc then there's those front pages directing you elsewhere.
Don't let it knock you bud and tread carefully. |

It is a shit thing to happen.as always theres a 'but' with me.
You have been fradulently cinned out of money, regardless of site or where you met , she has recieved funds through deception. Inform your bank and see if there is a way of getting the money back and if not ask the banks investigators to intervene. Im sure she wont be some high notch criminal , they will easily get her details fron the account number. More fool you bud if you let her away with it. Ps Happy birthday. |

Well that was silly handing money over a stranger .
As for getting it back , i really cant see that happening . The bank or the police arent going to waste their time when you voluntary handed the money over.
Next time use the proper head and not the mini one. |

I suspect she's off buying a new shoes and matching handbag. |

Or paid her half of a hotel meet to have fun with another guy
Now that would be harsh but probably true ,the poor OP has paid for her to have fun |

A short letter from the bank stating they might need to pass on details of possible fraud to the police and stating if it was a misunderstanding and the money was returned no further action would be taken , watch how quick he gets his money back. |

Maybe, maybe not. She might have previous form for it and knows fine well nothing is gonna happen . We dont know the context of the messages . Police probs laugh him out the door . Lesson learned the hard way. |

Even if the bank agrees to investigation if it is found that there was negligence on the part of the claimant he will be liable for the loss. The money wasn't taken from his account, he sent it. It's best to keep your hand on your ha'penny really when dealing with any unknown quantity. |

"Book the room yourself next time. I’ve been let down before but someone came to my rescue and we’ve been meeting for two years. There is an upside at times. Damsels in distress do get rescued. "
Aye....but....he's no a damsel.
Worst case scenario he's got a comfy bed for the night I suppose. |
