Well the wee fat mexicana beat him. To quick and was constant pushing forward. Seriuosly doubt AJ will win the rematch maybe if it was on home soil? Things are shaping up nicely in H.W division . Congrats to Ruiz the fist heavy weight mexican CHAMPION EVER!

This has been coming for a while. Joshua can't take punishment and when someone brings the fight to him and dictates the pace, he's all at sea.

Wilder would put him down at any given point and Fury boxes Joshua's ears off with one hand behind his back.

Fair play to Ruiz, to take the fight on at short notice and do that is impressive.

Joshua’s chin has always been highly suspect. It says a lot about him as a fighter that he got the tar beaten out of him by a guy who had 6 weeks to prepare for this bout. Congratulations to Ruiz though, he was the better boxer on the night but I reckon if he was to meet either Wilder or Fury his reign would be very short lived.

Agreed. No danger Fury or Wilder let that happen this morning. Whyte doesn't get stopped like that either. What a turn up for the division, next year will be massive now as the sharks will circle whoever wins the rematch.

I’m hoping it signals a renaissance of the Heavyweight division but that remains to be seen. One can only hope.

One can. Because all the players are there, it's greed, promoters and fear that hamper the division.

As a friend just said to me, it's all manufactured these days, it's like watching a TV talent show. Stage managed within an inch of it's life. You don't get this at welterweight or even middleweight. They just fight each other!

Bad times.

At least Canelo and GGG have fought each other twice, Hearn won't put his boy anywhere near Wilder now.

You're right though, it's very entertaining. There should be a belt for best boxer on social media platforms, it would change hands weekly!

Said it forever Joshua is overrated, beat an old man in klitscho at the death when fury had schooled klitscho. Avoided fighting anyone of note and at the first sign of needinn real courage he failed. Let's stop the hype now.

Oh and I'm not sure how much true there is in it but word is that this is the first fight Joshua was subjected to a full WADA testing programme for? That would be interesting if it was true

I have never really rated Joshua and think the heavyweight division is as poor as it's been in a long time just now

I personally think Scotlands own Josh Taylor is Britains best pound for pound fighter just now

The best pound for pound boxer in Britain in my opinion is Katie Taylor. She's phenomenal.

She was brilliant last night only just caught it this morning.

Think Joshua been lucky up till now. Would be funny if Ruiz turned round and said nah to a rematch lol (he won’t but it’d be funny) sky already advertising a rematch that is not even set up yet it’s mental

I agree with you..it was a very very close fight..if Katie didn’t get the decision I wouldn’t have been surprised.

The other fighter stormed straight out of the ring disgusted by the result.

Honestly

AJ should have finished him in the 3rd.

When he floored him, instead of going head hunting and get caught he should have been more cautious and played cat and mouse for a few moments more.

Ruiz was there for the taking and AJ blew it. A basic amateur mistake

Rematch AJ will get it right and blow him away.

This may arouse Wilder into a fight as he is ducking not only AJ but all British heavyweights since Fury beat him.

Wrong tactics in round 3 cost Joshua his legacy and he only has his self to blame

Get it right next time

Hats off to Ruiz he stuck in there

Yep in one dude AJ had him on toast in the 3rd got reckless & got clipped.

I still think he is the best heavyweight out there & a really humble guy.

Ps) I love it when people say oh these guys can’t take a punch ffs they are being hit full force on the chin or side of the head by 16 17 18 stone guys c,mon peeps anybody that steps inside the ring gets my respect.

Andy Ruiz will go down in history the same way Buster Douglas did

Got lucky on the night when the champion wasn’t concentrating and will get creamed in rematch

It happens to the best, one lapse in concentration and bang it’s lights out

Built up by the British public press and believed his own hype,a guy like Ruiz should never be getting in behind jousha jab,but like the lineal champ tyson fury has said even before the aj ruiz fight was announced, ruiz is no mug, fury knows boxing inside out and would school that whole division,AJ was a fraud.

Agree 100%. There's been some shit talked on this thread by those who believe the hype.

Fought old men and nobodies up until now. First sign of getting it tough and he folds like a pack of cards.

He's been "managed" as a cash cow and to make money for him and his entourage.

Of course he'll win the rematch and if it goes the distance it'll be a hometown decision. But surely it's clear to see for even the daftest boxing fans now why he's been avoiding the big guns!!

Compare and contrast to Fury. Not the poster boy, not the media darling, not the bodybuilder. But Fury schooled klitscho, he went to America and took on Wilder and beat him in his own back yard getting up from the canvas to do so and the decision was a farce. Fury has balls and he has boxing skills. AJ is a total fraud.

Thing with Tyson fury is that he's had the stick pridden at him by the british press for being the traveller and the one with mental health issues, was never going to be cast as the British heavyweight of choice to take on the world, but the guys forgot more about boxing than they all know put together in that division, his story's real also and has problems just like everyone else. It's still a poor division but a fit fury in a good place dosent see any of these frauds in his way.
