Thats not true. It has a castle and a beautiful cathedral. There is some lovely pubs and of course u are 20 mins from the lake district.

I went to Carlisle for a day out a few months ago and it was great.

Pubs and bars are all concentrated together and it's very, very lively. If that's your thing, then you can't go wrong. I found the locals to mostly be pretty friendly too.

We stayed in Carlisle to go gold panning in wanlockhead lol,it's only £20 and you do find flakes of gold

it was a few years ago now but I worked in Carlisle and stayed in digs and I had a great time,pubs,club the people and hey even the job was good

There's a few nice pubs, a Wetherspoons and from I can recall, a pretty decent Indian restaurant. That was about 5 years ago I was as there though

There is a quaint museum with a rather hunky curator if you wish to have a rummage
