"Will you stop at Red traffick lights though. ? It seems that cyclists believe they are above the highway code but demand more road space than an HGV with a 40 ton crane attachment. "
The recent death over on the south side highlights how dangerous traffic is
As much fun as it is, vehicles are the greatest danger to other road users
In saying that, I do wonder at those who double up making me sit patiently to overtake eventually
I find that a good cycle run is therapeutic |

Yeah ,
I cycle for fun only maybe around the 5 to 10 miles total . But as a driver i have seen some shocking examples of blatant bad road use by cyclists. Then have the cheek to complain and give abuse or the finger when you point out Red lights apply to them too. |

Bit of a thread derailment! The guy is just trying to get a cycle group meet going - no need to start a road safety debate and stir up the usual in-group/out-group prejudice |

"Any fabbers also enjoy cycling?
Nothing better than getting the kit on and going for a nice cycle now that weather is picking up
Could maybe have a wee group ride...all abilities welcome"
I do enjoy getting out on the bike, a great run for me is from Stirling through aberfoyle, up the lovely dukes pass before coming round loch Katrine on the way home, beautiful scenery, I must admit though but of a fair weather cyclist, if it’s wet I’m not going out lol |

Once had a puncture on the Trossachs Ton - got eaten alive by midges. Amazing day out and scenery though! |

Midgies are a curse, okay till you stop lol
I’d definitely be up for an outing, different levels / bikes could make it difficult to get a happy medium |

And that's precisely the reason I have cam on my bike helmet. I drive 30% of the time but always give cyclists space as its vulnerable on a saddle on busy roads. And yep, I know some cyclists abuse the highway code |

"The climb from Loch Tay to Glen Quaich is a good one, roughly a 120 mile ride from Stirling"
120 miles
Thats only for hard core cyclists . Not a Fab cycling social nor even a cycling for fun person surely. |

And I've seen some absolutely shocking drivers. What's your point? Yes some cyclists are bad, yes some drivers are bad. Difference is a bad cyclist isnt going to kill a driver.
The original poster was wanting meet people to go cycling with.

"I am part of Livingston Cycling Club, so I most do the sportives for fun"
Tbh, I never got into the club scene. My dad is a big Glasgow club rider but mainly the easier more social runs now. But did do a few club runs when lived in the Highlands. |
