As goody says , walking is great especially if you like podcasts as the hours fly in

Some of the classes like body combat or tums n buns type are great toning

Loads you can do at home though , google what you are looking for and again there are loads of apps too which help

I used to do loads of gym work but I find classes like body attack and body pump good. Ft fit is also great for a quick fast full work out

The only way I can motivate myself to go to gym is by setting myself targets! These dont need to be weightloss ones, my targets are always to do with lifting heavier on the 3 compound lifts of bench, squat and deadlift!

Also diet is easy, for starters most people can start a diet without cutting out anything but just controlling their portions as most have a meal for 2 on their plate every time they eat!

You have to enjoy it or you will never stick with it

Was think of doing something like that, start 3 day and train with likes of deadlift, bench, squats as you say the compound moves

Alternate day fasting. No snacking between meals on non fasting days and don't eat after 6pm.

Pilates

Kettlebells.

I exercise at home, can't be arsed with the gym.

I definitely wouldn't recommend fasting to a newbie as this is one way to quickly make you hate it and go back to binge eating! Just control portions and eat what you want! As long as you have portion control you will start to see results

Easily...done it for about the last 2 years and it's the best I've ever felt. If I feel like a weekend or day off, I take it (holidays, bithdays, etc). Mostly stick to it Mon-Fri as I'm partial to a Vimto at the weekend

It's pretty easy to start out fasting one day a week and see how you feel on it or some people prefer to have a fasting "window" and only eat between certain hours, 2pm and 6pm for example, so effectively just skip breakfast....If you think about it, most of us are effectively fasting for 8hrs a day anyway when you're asleep so it's simply prolonging that period.

Anyway OP, experiment, see what works for you diet and exercise wise. And if you do fall binge or give into a curry or 6, remember it's only food ....you didnae murder anybody

Experiment is the best advice I have seen so far! Everyone will have something that works for them but doesn't for others! I just used to watch alot of YouTube and read alot of articles and stuff, dont take anything as gospel but instead try each one see what works and even make your own hybrid versions of what people recommend!

Except most PT's now a days are actually clueless the amount of times I have seen a PT teaching someone how to do a lift the wrong way which could result in bad injuries is ridiculous! If I was getting PT I definitely wouldn't get one that is your bog standard works in a gym one but one that actually knows their stuff

I’ve been using a PT for three months now. She’s had years experience and isn’t based on one of the huge gyms. She’s very good at pulling me up on technique! Like everything research it and also it may be you need try 2/3 to find one you can work with.

Started going as I’d gained a lot weight and couldn’t see my way back. Next step is to start classes and cut pt sessions down.

This 100%.

Done a weekend course and good to go.

No idea of anantomy, physiology, nutrition or growth. It's actually dangerous.

Pick an activity that doesn't bore you to tears. Walking, cycling, swimming and rowing are easier to cope with than big weights or high intensity cardio training. Start gently and take it easy the first few times. If you overdo it, you will become disheartened, stiffen up or could injure yourself. Keep aff the drink Monday to Thursday, snack on fruit and drink water or green tea between meals. Eat less refined carbs / processed junk and more whole foods prepared from scratch. Results will take time, be patient. Keep your goal in sight and don't despair over wee lapses, shit happens.....especially with a whole food diet!

Need a routine that you stick with for a month or two. Then it won’t feel too bad exercising.

Or

Join a club, boxing is a good one for fitness.

More the psychological effort. Don’t cut food, increase it if you feel like it at the start. Once your settled with your training start planning food.

That’s what I’d do anyway.

I hate the gym and prefer natural body weight circuit training.

Ive recently discovered TRX and love it. Simple exercises i can do inside and outside and they definitely work.

On a good day get outside for a walk, run or cycle or climb a mountain. Exercises the body and the mind.

Agree with this, saw a PT with a newbie knock kneed girl at the leg press yesterday- if she used much weight, his instruction will damage her
