Okay so I was in recent correspondence with a woman on this very fine establishment, although she took it soon her self to disregard my chat because of my spelling error.. I know we all can not be perfect spellers but does that really matter?

What’s your thoughts on it? Could you look past this? nosey T

I wouldn’t say mines is that bad, I think of your putting all your energy into someone’s grammar then you seriously need to give your self a good shake

Much love nosey T

Everyone makes spelling mistakes and suffers from the infamous autocorrect too... I love oral (yes both kinds ) and language would be dull without slang and textspeak... however it should enhance expression and a sentence should never be devoid of vowels entirely...

The content of a post or message is what determines how I feel about and respond to someone.

Spelling errors can be forgiven. Text speak makes me stabby though.

Spelling errors helped me to recognise my ex who has a fake profile and was mailing me like he wanted to meet etc.

My first alert was how he spelled certain words at first then i noticed other clues so bad spelling was a benefit to me lol

They have done great research recently which shows people who live with dyslexia, there brains light up in different places compared to people who don't have dyslexia.

The great thing about this is, it allows them to have a unique view of problem and create solutions that none dyslexia people can see.

Absolutely true I am a lecturer and work with many students every year i am upfront about my dyslexia and I can problem solve quickly and assess situations and respond differently than my colleagues. I am also very creative in my thinking once you accept who you are there are many benefits to being dyslexic

Your very much correct. I’m über dyslexic and work in engineering in a good job and do very well for myself due to my odd way of thinking. I was awful at school and my spelling and grammar is painfully bad however I did get some highers with a lot of effort. Only later in life have I found the benefits of not thinking like everyone else.

When people say spell check can fix it or just read it over and you’ll be able to fix it you can usually tell they don’t understand as depending on your specific dyslexia you can’t see the issues. For example I often write porpoise instead of purpose (I hope that’s correct) and can read it a dozen times and never see it. People often mistake bad spelling or framer for stupidity or laziness and that’s simply not the case.

I have had quite a lot of abuse on here due to this and it’s something I feel needs brought up more than it is.

But I must say using slang such as fur (for), cany (can’t), Ken (know), dug etc is an instant turn off as that’s not learning issues or dyslexia it’s just as bad when spoken as it is when written.
