Ladies and gents it's been years since I tried an Epilator which was seriously painful, but I'm no longer able to wax, and shaving just ain't smooth enough.

So are they still as painful? any recommendations on brand/model for best results and less pain?

Please and Thank you

Oh it is.

They do say that it gets easier the more you use it but bugger that for a laugh.

I’m too much of a big girls blouse

Yeah, I with you all the way and there's nothing wrong with a big girls blouse. I've seen some lovely things in big girls blouses.

Given the reputation they've got, I've never tried an Epilator. But those I know that do use them, say the Ice ones work best, as it numbs the skin slighty just before and after the hair removal.

Huge fan of epilating. I started on just my legs around 28 years ago & pubic area around 6/7. Bloody agony the first few times but absolutely no pain now. For me it's just so easy, especially due to a busy home/work life. Love the end result (as some can confirm)

Do you have a preferred model make of epilator? I have to try and I have heard the results are great

I'm only on my 2nd in 28 years so well worth the money. Mine is a babyliss, but I've had it for years.

I bought a £16 from Asda to see if I would be able to use one before investing in a fancy one, that was 4 years and I'm still using same 1! Gone from taking 3 nights to finish first time to just over half an hour now. Its no sorer than waxing I think

Electrolysis. Think that's permanent though.

Worth a try. I have a braun one that's lasted years but a friend suggested trying emla cream for the most sensitive areas and it's worked a treat. Now manage my underarms without it though. Purely for the intimate areas

Maybe a comparison test is in order. You could pick a panel of judges.

There are a couple of people on here that can testify to epilatory results ..... I've kind of suggested they check

Update

I was in boots today and seen an epilator with a damaged box reduced from £44 to £10 so I thought why not

I will update in a few days once I've been brave enough to try it

Brilliant, I agree, definitely gets easier the more you do it so persevere. Take a couple of paracetamol an hour before you start too, that sometimes helps

Have after wax lotion or aloe vera handy. Legs are easy - not that painful at all and it does get easier every time, tried arm pits but that was horrendous, so won't consider coming anywhere near the pubes!! Although all that shaving's really getting to my skin so will have to come up with something else soon x

It requires perseverance, persistence and a high pain threshold.

I did my legs, armpits and half my lady garden before I gave up.

I’ve never had the courage to try again
