When in school if you saw someone who's trouser legs were above the ankkes you would ask, "has yer budgie died?" They would answer "Naw, why?" and you would follow up with, "Coz yer troosers ar at haulf mast".
Any others you can think off?

Unless you count this...
'blood is thicker than water' is a misquote and actually reverses the original meaning. The original proverb was 'the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb' so those we make our promises to/choose to have in our lives are more or just as important as the family we're born to.
