About to go on holiday, friend suggested I tried leaving my phone at home. Hubby will have his so any genuine emergencies will be able to contact us
Who here comes out in a cold sweat thinking of being apart from their phone for an extended period of time.

Feel like ad lost an arm one day i forgot to take it with me to work, was thinking people with be wondering why i havent replied to them etc, gets home and not 1 notification no messages or emails nothing... lol still couldnt do without it |

Im wondering why your friend suggested it or why you would want to leave it. Will it detract in any way from your holiday if you take it with you ?
Not being funny but if you will miss messaging people or checking out Fab or playing games or whatever else you may do with your phone then why spoil your holiday thinking about your phone ?
Take it , enjoy your holiday and catch up with people or messages just before bed or while your chilling by the pool.
Thats my advice anyways.

I struggle not to ignore my phone and he was thinking if I left it at home I would get a proper rest from work and life outside the family
My work once sent me 46 WhatsApp’s in one day when I was on holiday ! |

Exactly, take it with you. If you don't want it switch it of and leave it in your room. They are not just phones now, music, games,cameras etc. Limit you time on social media in that's what you want but you will find most of your friends will be intetested in where you are and what your doing. But enjoy your holiday. |

Well you've kind of answered your own question then. Take it with you and only peak at it at night before bed. Or even every couple of days. |

Had that forced upon me once
Smashed my screen and while the insurance was being sorted out I had a 10quid talk n text flip phone
No WiFi no Facebook no Internet
By the 3rd day I was actually starting to like being disconnected, by the 5th day I had no urges to check stuff online at all saving my checks till I got home, 6th day that continued and 7th day new phone arrived and.....
Everything went back to as it was before
On a plus note the cheap spare phone had snake on it |

If that was office work stuff then they are breaking employment law. It's a holiday and if they don't have staff that can answer those questions then they need new staff.... |

would never be without my phone as I have an elderly parent whos quite ill so I need to be contacted at all times,but I used to go to a lodge where it was situated in such a remote place you couldnt get a signal & it was bliss just shutting myself in with a wee chardonnay & a good book with a lovely wee log burner on the go lol  |

On holiday no phone is a disaster apart from the lack of maps if I hire a scooter or a bike .. I’d have no music either .. no tablet would be a bigger disaster as that has all my books on it

Fair play, I never thought about that.....  then you need better staff . Take it with you and switch it off and check when you have time or can be bothered. Best of both worlds, but most important thing is to relax and enjoy your holiday which I hope you do. |

I only use it to txt and sometimes phone folk occasionally and can go days without using it also take some pictures when a camera is needed (cause we don't go carrying round a camera in our pockets usually)
Can totally live without one
Grew up with a phone on a cable in the hall and was hardly used
Too many people these days walk about head down in their phones and not actually looking to see what's happening around them |
