We have seen a few profile that say they cant accom or travel but are looking for fun. Just wondering how said fun happens if you don't travel or accom?
Thanks x |

"Constantly other people in the house means accom is out.
Travel, no car but if really connect they may make the effort to,bus, taxi, train it, but generally cant travel."
Then wouldn't you say you could travel if you're willing to bus, train walk ect? |

Is why i said generally, and why i said if really connect, doubt anyone would spur of the moment jump on a train or bus to maybe meet after one message, got that T-shirt years ago, 2 trains to dundee and learnt the timewaster lesson, |

This.
I have both can't accom due to flatmate and can't travel due to not having a car, but can still get the bus or a taxi. It's also why I have "only Edinburgh" on my profile too. |

You can still get the bus or taxi..... doesn't that mean that you can indeed travel? I'm lost |

Buses, trains and taxis do run outside Edinburgh. |

Wouldn't using a bus or taxi be classed as travelling? |

Well, in the literal sense, sure, you're traveling.
But I'm pretty sure the options weren't given with the thought that people would just stay home and expect others to get them.
Way I understand it, "can't travel" just means you can't pick up and go anywhere you like at any time since you don't have your own travel. You're restricted to schedules, availability and whether or not you got that spare change in yer pocket. Lol |

We don't see the point in mailing profiles we have no interest in.
Also isn't this a forum to ask questions when you're wondering about something?? |

What the logic in people asking for meets but cant accom or travel, or the logic in making your profile discreet or saying you don't travel or accom because your not meeting at the moment? Two different scenarios |

Cant accom = no privacy in house.
Cant travel = can if they decide who they are talking to is worth the effort, assured they wont be leaft standing in a strange place after committing to go by public transport. But its best to say cant due to amount of dross messaging them and tempting them to go by public transport. |

So cant travel actually means you can travel. Youre making stuff up?? and pulling our leg. That's the most backwards way of saying you do travel |

It does appear that there are sometimes genuine reasons for posting can't accommodate, can't travel. Maybe it's just the same with any other profiles when we have to determine who is actually genuine. With chatting, circumstances can be explained. If it doesn't sound plausible, it probably isn't!!! |

Do you go to a TRAVEL agent to go to you local shops or nearby locations destinations ? Of course not . When people say they cant travel in my opinion they are saying they wont go far for a meet or maybe just meet in a club or at a social event. The PC brigade can obviously say well they are travelling blah de blah . But who wants to be a part of the PC brigade instead of using a bit of common sense on the issue. No doubt some people i guess. |

Thats commuting to work and as i say you can call it travelling and you are obviously correct in the basics of the word travel. But if you want to go to another level then you could call bullshit right from the outset, we are ALL travelling through life and the final destination is death . So wont or cant travel is an instantly lie as clearly we are all travelling. Like i say a common sense approach should be applied at times and in a way that is relevant to the circumstances that the wording is used. In these circumstances it probably means , wont go far for a meet. |

I would never say in a conversation, "hi, I'm good, just travelling to Asda " or, "that's me, travelling back from Buchanan Galleries" I live in Glasgow, for avoidance of doubt. I would say I travel to Edinburgh. Travelling in general refers to a trip, a journey. I take a bus. I travel with a coach. But that's me. |

I drive but there are limits to the distances I’ll drive. I’ll drive further to meet someone I know and won’t waste my time. For a social meet though I’ll limit how fat I travel.
I can’t accommodate at mine as my kids live with me but I’ll happily split the cost of a hotel.
Surely most people can get a hotel room. |

Not wanting to be a grammar twat about it (ha!), but in many cases “won’t” is probably the more appropriate modal verb.
I have them on so that I appear in searches, and it lets people know what I might consider. It doesn’t mean I’ll travel halfway round the country, or ship my family out to facilitate a coming together of wet bits. |

I’m one of the guilty ones who has this on my profile. I don’t accommodate as I live with my daughter and don’t want to take random folk into our home. In saying that I’ve had people here but that’s at my discretion and I’m always open when I’m asked why it’s on my profile- as I ask if someone has it on theirs
As for travelling I really don’t want to be driving all over the country to meet folk who may not turn up or are not what I was expecting when we meet.
Again it’s not a hard set rule but my discretion
