Having a look at what cycling I want to this year
Not the usual cycle more to the shops instead of using the car but more the make a time of it
So far I'm thinking
I want to cycle along the canal to the Falkirk wheel maybe keep going into Edinburgh
Deffo going to cycle to Balloch more
And as I've signed up the be let's ride guided ride leader I'm hoping that will bring some great cycling in groups of people opportunities
Hoping it will be a good one (might even help reduce the belly fat) |

All I've done so far this year is spin classes and a few 6mile round trips to the shops
But I want to get some proper mileage on some of my cycles (when the weather gets better lol)
Also gives me an excuse to go to decathlon to look at cycling gadgets toys bits n bobs |

Benefit of cycling to Balloch - train home after a stop at the pub next to the station
Canal between the Falkirk wheel and the kelpies is a nice cycle. Need to leave the canal path for a wee bit but it's an easy cycle to build up to more

Used to cycle to Lochwinnoch and back twice a week on my own. Took a hypo last time and was lucky that a group were about 30 seconds behind, I was wearing my diabetes bracelet. I'm banned from cycle paths on my own now and my mates are a bunch of lazy buggers .Last summer I got a carrera subway 2 hybrid with 500 quids worth of accessories from a Spanish guy who was selling up and going back home because of Brexit ,£100 ,couldn't believe my luck it was on the site for 7 days I thought it had to be gone |

Glucogel tubes, if they're still a thing, are small and easily slipped in a pocket. There's liquid sachets aimed at runners that are about 30g of carb too and worth looking for. Have a look on amazon or ask a pharmacist about the Glucogel. Handy to have on you all the time.

Me and MSD left car at Camelon stn cycled up to the Falkirk wheel then along canal path to Linlithgow , that was around 16 miles and a fairly easy ride. Train back to Camelon. We could be up for another tow path cycle some time in better weather. |

Last time I did the canal I parked up at Edinburgh Park, train through to Falkirk then cycled back to Edinburgh park.
For the unfittest fat bloke it was hard going, but was well pleased with the achievement. |

Av cycled to the falkirk wheel a couple of times, it's a 40 mile round trip for me and it's pretty easy. I did cycle to Edinburgh once along the canal which was a round trip of 106 miles.......that was a long day,the canal path after falkirk isn't as good as the forth and Clyde canal.
Deffo going to cycle to Balloch more

Just get out there and enjoy |

"I did arran last year with my mountain bike. It was so heavy and hard going. My 3 friends road bikes weighed less together than my bike. Think I have to up grade"
Did arran myself a few years ago on a mountain bike, others in the group did use road bikes so I get what you mean
Still a gorgeous cycle though, hard but gorgeous |

Don't you know the cyclists formula is N + 1 where N = The number of bikes you have at present!
Seriously though, good on you going for the ride leader, you will meet lots of new people and find new routes to cycle. Lots of great routes in West and Central Scotland.
If you find Balloch getting too easy, extend it to Helensburgh, then train home, eventually build up to a loop, cycle track to dumbarton onto Helensburgh, then over the hill to Ballloch and back! You could make that a target for the end of summer? Good luck!

We got the train to Falkirk a few years back and cycled back along the canal path. Was a good afternoon out and there are a few pubs on the canal path that help.
Down to balloch and back is also a good one. |

The first year I done the pedal for Scotland on my hybrid, year layer I split my time with my road bike, as its very lightweight and carbon fibre. I manly use for long cycles or hill climbing. I have done a few sportives, and the lock mess ettape |

I have a couple of times extended the cycle over to Balloch, downhill into the town centre at 35mph is brilliant but then I turned right and cycled back to Dumbarton and home to the village
Did that on my mtb
Mind you that was 2 years ago, last year I didn't do much cycling and that's why this year I'm changing that |
