Why do people teat bar staff like shit? Last night I watched this guy let a very tired and harassed waitress/ bar staff run back and forward six times, when he could have taken a few steps closer to the till.. Are manners and courtesy a thing of the past? |

I have the greatest respect for bar and waiting staff as I've been behind the bar of a busy pub.
Unfortunately people will just assume because they are customers they demand a service from you.
Many a time I was threatened or verbally abused by some d*unk idiot. |

Actually no, someone in a bar can't demand service, they can request service.
More times than not, someone demanding service is someone who's already had enough or has a bad attitude and shouldn't be served anymore. |

Having worked in a bar I get the rudeness but I've also been the other side where the bar staff haven't a clue. Was in town recently, stood right in front of a till next to a guy who was getting served and the staff served about 6 people who walked up to other points of the bar after me because that's where the staff was standing! I always monitored my bar and took a mental note of who had been waiting longest, not who was closest so I have no sympathy for some staff. |

What kola might be saying is , as a cutomer we have a right to demand GOOD service, not have a slave though, but bar staff and shop staff are there to provide a service. I personally expect that service with a smile and manners and thats what they get back from me. Bar staff are hard worked but hey thats the role they chose. To the OP if i go into a bar im going to where i want to stand or sit im not gonna say , oh theres 4 staff talking on that corner of the bar i will sit on that corner so they dont need to move.
Surely you noticed that in your Fab bar necked lol |

My fab Bar is different, it's free self service..
Service with a smile and manners absolutely agree and this staff member did this... Surely if you expect this then you should display it too, perhaps be the first rather than expecting others to show first.

I personally don’t like rude or bad service, I’ll address it by not leaving a tip.
Good service gets a good tip.
Never anger anyone who has access to your food/drink or next time you might be biting into a juicy burger with some ‘special sauce’ on it

Surely you noticed that in your Fab bar necked lol" precisely this ive been at bars in the town and the staff are either only wanting to serve certain folk or to busy checking their social media or conversing with other staff about anything other than doing their job.
My point is thats your job is to deal with customers not have a god complex and only deal when you decide they are worthy of your time some folk are so up their own ass it beggers belief.
It should never get to the point of demanding. |
