There have been a few threads about gyms (which may be more about seeing each other in Lycra than anything else!).
I wondered if any fellow fabbers are also parkrunners. I’ve been toying with going to one of the West Fife park runs for ages (even laminated my barcode!) but can never motivate myself to get out of bed that early on a Saturday morning - it’s a precious non-work morning!
Would anyone be interested in a park run/coffee/social meet? |

That’s the beauty of Parkrun, you can sprint, run, jog, walk, bimble.... it’s just about getting out in the open air together.
If you can run a bath, you can do a parkrun!

I run most evenings at my local park in any weather except snow n ice after coaching and early mornings when I can. I've had a few regular people at the park wanting to run with me but I prefer runnng alone at my own pace ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

I’ve signed up for parkrun but never made it along. What puts me off is starting in a mass crowd (can sometimes be 100s of folk) and finding your own wee space to run in.
With my speed I would probably be near the back anyway slow run is better than no run |

Just position yourself at the back of the crowd at the start, that's what I do. I'm usually in the last 5 finishers but that's fine cos its about getting out there and finishing rather than how fast you can do it ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

I do the park run when I can, good mix of people from fast, medium runners, joggers to walkers. Loch Ore Meadows is a good one to start with. Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline & Kinross have them now too. Gives you a bit more motivation when in a group to push yourself a little harder. |

Im actually against parkruns. I was walking my dogs this morning and was forced off the path as approx 200 runners were coming towards me. Why should the public have to walk on the mud whilst the runners take over the path? |

I agree that the runners should be considerate - that’s certainly in all the guidance on the PR site.
Aren’t the runners ‘public’ too, though, with as much right to be there as dog walkers? |

I have nothing against runners as run myself but when a huge crowd come charging towards you like a stampede of elephants i just feel it wrong. |

I know someone who goes all over the UK doing park runs and he loves them.
Makes a weekend of it often.
I'm more of a "lone furrow" type but after long term injury hope to return to hill racing.
That's more my bag.... |

"Done a couple of parkruns before i wrecked my knee (yes even at my age ive managed it!). Usually do stirling, but really struggling to walk some days never mind run right now "
That's strange as Stirling doesn't have a parkrun |

"There's one in Livingston too on Saturday mornings 9 at the court. Have an old Fwb who's been trying to get me along. But can't trust ourselves!"
A few of my friends do the Livi one.

Think a wheelchair is better for those who can't walk |
