Careful now or doggy is going to bite!
I would blame the precious moppets and the need for accidental damage cover. That's what I do

Word of warning on this, if you have a glass cooker hob, and you break it or crack it, because it is fixed you cannot claim for it under you accidental contents cover, you have to have accidental building cover as well to cover a hob
I got stung with that one the thieving barstewards !!!! |

That’s an interesting point ! I had not thought about the accidental damage part of items such as fitted kitchen not being contents !!
Need to remember that come the day I accidentally break things or for cover renew date !! Whichever (hopefully the latter) comes first !! |

"Does missing bananas, cucumbers and yoghurt come under home insurance
If so, I'm claiming
Someone always has to lower the tone is this you deliberately derailing a thread though?
V x"
Not really but I'm sure you will keep it going due to the snipe
In regards to home insurance I've had problems in the past due to claiming through it and a few others I know have had the same problems and they are with different insurers. The home insurance seem to put obstacles in the way when trying to claim, quite varied, some even stating things are not covered when positive they were |

Not necessarily I live in rented accommodation and had this fight and got the housing to send a letter saying I have to pay to have kitchen returned to original condition when I move out and will be charged for the disposal of my cooker if I move out |

I even contacted the insurance omsbusman regarding my complaint and rule of thumb is ... if you were to turn your house upsides down and a particular item did not fall out or move it will not be covered by contents accidental damage insurance ... |

I’ve been really lucky. Really decent coverage through a well know high street and online company with a reduction in my monthly charges this year. £23 a month for both. Haven’t moved from them in years as it’s not been worth it when searching for a new company. |

I used the same home insurance place (AA) for years, until they decided to increase my premiums and excess, because I had put in two claims.
Thing is neither claim came to anything as one was for a personal electronic item that was dropped at home and damaged (Digital camera). I didn't have cover for that. I added personal electronic items, which equated to £5 extra a month.
Then my girlfriend ropped her laptop and because the laptop didn't get to their independent assessor in time, they cancelled that claim and increased my excess to £800 (from £250) and also increased the monthly charge by an additional £18.
Most insurance companies are basically robbers selling a scare.

I got fed up with the price of home insurance so last year at my renewal I took off accidental damage, thought fuck it I can just replace it, legal fees because it’s a bloody con and doesn’t cover disputes with neighbours which they don’t tell you and emergency call out, again because in the fine print you need to be elderly or have babies to qualify as an emergency in a broken boiler situation as your house needs to be actually flooded before you can get a plumber.
Total con.
Took all that shit off and just had home and contents basic cover for a 3 bedroom house and only paid £92 for a year!
Huge difference

Small print is a must read ,never use shop insurance tesco etc they are cheap for that very reason.
Those stating just make a few claims to get back what you've paid is the reason the insurance is through the roof as is the level of greed from those making claims these days .
Contents insurance will only cover anything not fixed to the property ...if you leave you wouldn't strip your wallpaper ,floor tiles etc to take with you .Buildings will.

I’ve been with more than for about twelve years now and I’m £13 a month for contents which is not bad considering I’ve had about five claims over the years and love in an area classed as high risk, quite good as well because my son has aspergers and adhd and his outbursts have still been accepted under accidental claims |
