Now, whilst it could be argued that a few folk on here could be doing with some of this  does the potential of AI scare you or do you think the endless possibilities and improvements it could bring to all areas of human existence negates any possible disadvantages? It scares the shite out of me if I'm honest.
Just think....we could have a specially designed "rimming" cyborg for Albie....

I believe smart homes will evolve that much that certain folk won't know how to function on their own  I've got most things smart in my home but certain things I'll keep dumb.

I'm not a big fan of all the new advancements(I'm braved rmfirbthe "old fart comments.) .. Yes somethings are made easier and more convenient but is convenience a good thing? Take cars, where before you could tinker and work on cars, now you need a degree in computers. That's why dealerships and the like employ" master fitters" instead of mechanics... And charge a fortune for work done.. Of the self serve checkouts in asda are anything to go by it will be a while before ai replaces humans.. It can't get the weight of my wine and whisky correct or see that I'm actually old enough to buy it. |

The ones that get me are smart washing machines they are programmable by phone or tablet etc send message when finished . You still need to be there to load the bugger and put powder in .
A real smart one would empty the pockets separate whites and colours and iron it for us .  |

We're already half way there... Google and Facebook etc know pretty much everything about most of us. I find it really scary how easily we give away our habits and personal information.
Have a read of 'robocalypse'...
See how easily it could go wrong!

Oh that's been aimed at me more than a few times too  .. At a mates house l, while he was in the loo i picked up the remote control to put the football on.. Pressed every damn button, tv stayed on the same channel... Did this again and again for about ten minutes, shouted to ask if I had the correct remote... His wife screamed back at me, "yes, yes, oh fuck yes"... She was lying... I missed most of the first half. |

When I go into s room I find myself wanting to say things like 'Alexa lights on' even when I'm not home or add something to my shopping list.
It's amazing how quickly we become conditioned to do something!

Ww recently just got a new "smart" washer dryer.
Its got all the classic options on the dial on the front of the machine but for others I had to firstly download the app then download further programs.
I went through the list and it was things like "teddy bear cycle".
It wont even let me choose how long I want the dryer on I have to choice between three pre programed cycle times.
How the hell it can be considered smart is beyond me.

Working in the IT realm if you didn't guess by the username it's exciting some of the things we can do already but alot more is coming.
If you haven't already seen it you should see Google duplex having a conversation with some business making appointments and reservations and that was last year's coding so God knows what they are dreaming up now but I love it all.

There's a conference held every year where they show off all the latest technologies, they sat down two AI robots in front of eachother and got them into a conversation with eachother, by the end on the conversation the robots were in agreement that the best way forward is for the extinction of mankind  |

for AI, its going to be interesting how technology will be progressing 10fold, new hardware/software..
However, even I'm not too sure machines would be any worse than ourselves..take away the need for greed,corruption, consumption- machines that think really might just have a more 'humanitarian' view of their environment than we do.
Of
it's the ultimate step for human evolution..and we might be closer to cybernetics in the future than a 'true' AI
there's no way humans will be able to survive solar events such as the death of our solar system in a few billion years, our bodies are going to be pretty useless for long distance space travel too... |

You’re using AI every day in all sorts of places from Amazon recommending products to speech or facial recognition on your phone.
All pretty useful and harmless.
Super intelligent AI is what people fear and it’s decades away. Hyped up a lot by the press but you won’t be seeing Skynet anytime soon.

Rubbish.
The two robots started talking in a language that only they understood. What they said was unknown.
AI and technology can put us into a golden age if done correctly. Sadly humans will ruin it though. |

How do those pre-defined answers work? AI systems learn so what pre-defined answers allow an AI to recognise cars or cyclists or pedestrians ?
There is no general AI systems, i.e. can undertake any task, but there are systems which learn to do things. An AI learned to play various video games to better than human level. There are not predefined answers there. It learned by trial and error like we do. |

if a=loss of game try b .......if b= loss of game try c......if c= loss of game try a+b......my point ai is artificial intelligence or the ability to work it out by its own intelligence. We aint there just clever programming.
Just think if there was ai the speeds that computers can work now how advanced would we be in hrs if ai was realised |

These work very well for people who depend on carers for household tasks, the point of them being that even if you are bedbound you have control over the washer/dryer etc even if the carer isn't there. So if your washing machine stops but you aren't expecting carers for another 4-5 hours you can turn them off and sae electricity/stop the bloody things beeping.. |
