"I just watched it.. Men calling other men out for being a dick... No complaints here... But as has been said a few times, the assumption, especially on sites like this is that it will always be viewed with suspicion and the assumption being that the men doing it have ulterior motives... The phrase "toxic masculinity" is, imo another marketing ploy.. It's a phrase that will be used as a stick to beat anyone who disagrees with this particular portrayal of masculinity. I look forward to seeing the "lady shave version" and the rise of the phrase "toxic femininity" because as has also been said, woman are not immune to treating others as objects either.. You aren't the first person that has said this to me, and to make this clear, I am NOT a feminist, I wouldn't limit myself like that. So, despite all of the things that could come from this movement: Parental rights for men equal to that of the mother including but not exclusively, the right for the father to remove his children and himself from an abusive family situation and be supported by agencies and courts. Most courts still bear the attitude that children should stay with their mother. Reproductive rights for men including the female form of stealthing, non voluntary impregnation, non-prejudicial adoption. Increased mental and physical health awareness for males, more resources to combat the fact that three quarters of all suicides in the UK are male. I could go on and on. So, men don't like women telling them to drop harmful attitudes, they don't like health agencies or politicians telling them their attitudes no longer fit with modern society, and now that you are being asked to seize this chance and DO IT YOURSELVES, what you want to see a similar ad attacking feminists? "Here's something to help you".... "but, but the matriarchy!! *sobs*" Can you not see that you are just becoming them? Represent Dudes!. This isn't an attack, it's an excuse for you to challenge the stereotypes you are forced in to, are you going to pony up? or would you like to continue to whine at the feminists? This advert, in a clumsy way at times does just that... Over the years we have done countless things to destroy toxic femininity, women are allowed to work, women are not seen as unfeminine if they go to the gym, women are allowed in the bar at pubs, if anything the last few decades have been one big campaign against toxic femininity, (dove, bodyform etc) In fact there is even a term for it "Femvertising" so now it's the men's turn, I just hope it doesn't take you all decades to change it. | |||

" Picti.. Again I agree with the majority of what you said.. The examples you gave were, unless I am mistaken largely perpetuated by a man's view of femininity. A lot has changed, not just in the aforementioned expression but also in men's attitudes toward woman and yes a lot still can and has to change. But there is also a movement to redefine masculinity according to how a woman wants to see it expressed... In the same way that when it was men defining what femininity is/was it wasn't healthy neither is it healthy when the role is reversed... | |||

" Actually, part of the #metoo campaign that has come about directly because of things like this is a large group of female "fans" that will now stand in the way/protect/shield male celebrities etc from unwanted female attention. This came about when a happily married male celebrity was photographed with a female fan sexually assaulting him and other fans just watching laughing. Our point is that not only is he a married man, but that no one should be subjected to this kind of behaviour no matter what they do for a living. We specifically ask gropers "Are you aware this is someone else's husband?" We are actually gaining quite a lot of momentum. | |||

As much as I may joke on here, I find it creepy as fuck. I was at a ladies lunch and some naked butlers came in. Young guys, early to mid 20's, gorgeous looking and amazing bodies. Whilst I couldn't help but admire their bodies (arse cheeks passing at eye level) the whole thing made me feel quite uncomfortable. And loads of the the 40+,50+ women were all over them like total pervs. | |||
