Question for the ladies.....

Hi. Why do you ladies (and couples too) sometimes read a message, then go back and mark it as unread, sometimes after looking at the profile?
Are you's trying to play it cool? Can't see the benefit of doing this myself, thought it would be more likely to lead to another message getting sent your way.At least if the guy can see that the message has been read, he can take the hint from this, that you aren't interested if he gets no response. |

Mr reads all of ours but doesn't reply, leaves that to me. So he'll go back and mark unread after having a nosey.
Sometimes I'll read and then put it back to unread until I have time to reply properly. |

Yeah pretty much what we do aswell.
But if I see the message i browse the profile if it says straight OR athletic it shows they haven't bothered to read our profile so sometimes gets thanks but no thanks, other times it's just a delete |

Do folk not do this with work emails too? Quick nosey to see what takes priority/can do with a one line response or mark "unread"? It's not always about fucking with folk or trying to play games. |

Just personal preference. "
Hi.Do you intend to send a response to those that you go back and mark as unread? I would have thought a quick message such as liked your message/profile, busy now but catch up later response would be better than marking it as unread. |

Aye, but that then generates another fucking message saying "thanks for your reply....looking forward to your message" ! |

Sometimes people send repeat emails if you read and don't reply. Sometimes you get endless questions or abuse if you reply no thanks.
Sometimes though i just dont want to read my emails. |

I would have thought it was more likely you would receive a repeat message if it was showing us unread. |

Why would you be more likely to receive another message if the first one was unread? That smacks of desperation. |

Hi.Doesn't smack of desperation to me. It looks to the guy like it has been unread, maybe lost in a sea of messages, so send another and see what happens. Quite the opposite, sending another message to one that has clearly been read with no response smacks of desperation. |

"Never knew you could do this I deal with mail as I see it ......reply or ignore is my options"
Aye, but we know that you're no the brightest anyway....so no surprise that the "mark unread" button had gone unnoticed. |

Both sound pretty desperate to me. |

I think simply, ticking all the boxes in terms of what either a woman or couple are looking for increases your chances of both message being dealt with and a response happening.
If you as the messager has opted to chance yer mit by glossing over any detail the people have listed, hoped for the best knowing your, not the right age, height, build etc, you can in no way "expect" a response. You can comply with the, "make your message more than 3 words long","string a sentence together", all that, but if either your message reads like 2000 other ones or it has 4 words instead of the 3,your kind of deserving of a clinical delete or,gotta be honest this quirky "read/unread" things a nifty option, lol. |

We're a couple but not joined at all times or sharing a consciousness. Wade might read a message and mark it as unread so I won't miss it or so we can speak and agree on a response. Same for me. I reply more often and it does my head in when he doesn't mark a message he's read as unread, especially if it's directly for me as a response to a forum post or similar.
There's also option 2 - I've looked but haven't had time to reply to stop you thinking I don't give a toss because having a life it's acceptable it seems, I've marked it as unread to come back to it.

We use the unread option if one of us has read a message intended for the other. We answer every message even if it’s ‘thanks for the message but we are not looking to meet at the moment’
I hate being ignored therefore wouldn’t ignore someone else, even if it’s a rude message or inappropriate content I will still send something then block them. |

That should have said having a life is unacceptable it seems.
In what way is it like that? Maybe it's more like I've flicked the indicator and noticed a wee sports car jumping out from behind me and coming up the side so I've flicked it back off to stay where I am until I can move.

"How do you know its been read then marked unread? "
If you have a lot of time on your hands you can sit and watch the message in your sent items to see when it switches from yellow to white then back to yellow. |

Nothing sad or desperate about me, have noticed on one or 2 occassions people who have read my messages straight away after sending them, then go back and mark them as unread. Its an easy thing to notice being a guy sending messages. |

I do it if it's a message i like & want to come back to with a proper reply or if I've just been on quickly & don't have time to reply. Also with the thought that the sender can see unread so wouldn't think they were just being ignored. Xxx |

Never knew you could do this and no idea why I would have the need to
Life is busy enough without having to do the same thing twice
