I enjoy a smooth finish but hate having to use a razor so often but can’t bear the thought of painful hair removal.

Read a few bizarre ‘recipes’ online of pastes that you mix up yourself but can’t think how they would work and too cowardly to try without hearing from a real person that they work lol

Any tips/advice ladies for our tender areas?

Very low pain threshold lol

Waxing, done properly, isn't that bad and definitely gets less painful as you keep it up. The hair is softer as it grows back in too and you tend to have less regrowth over time. A cheap/bargain waxer is not a good thing. It's a you get what you pay for kind of thing.

Epilation is mild torture. I've done it on my arms and legs before but couldn't venture to bikini line!

Hate shaving. I'm the worst woman. Can't do it without cutting myself then that hurts more than a wax

Sign me up for a full leg and Hollywood any day!

Could maybe take some preemptive paracetamol? But I'm not sure how that would affect possible bruising. Could ask when you phone x

You shouldn't with waxing but the paracetamol can make it more likely with anything. Just thinking on blood tests when I've been taking it for a headache or cold and ended up very badly bruised as a result

Yep, its nowhere near as sore as you think it might be. I love going for a wax!

Being waxed professionally is definitely the way to go, but what they don't tell you is that for some it encourages hair growth. It's not a big deal really, just means that you'll have to get waxed frequently.

Wax, definitely wax. Been regularly waxed for the last 3 - 4 years.

Take 2 ibuprophen about an hour beforehand, then 2 paracetamol 30mins before.

Post wax, tea tree based shampoos and body lotions help.

I epilate & have done for years (legs about 28 & full Brazilian for around 6). Whilst the result is pretty amazing, be under no illusion it's bloody agony the first few times! . It took me over 3 days to fully wax as it was so painful, & I was scarlett! I even tried using numbing cream but that didn't help. For me it's the ease of doing it myself as I don't have time to go to a salon regularly, & it also lasts a fair time. Occasionally prone to proving it too x

I usually get a Hollywood but I hate the regrowth period

HOWEVER, I have recently discovered laser hair removal and it’s amazing! I’d recommend that to anyone! I’ve had 2 sessions on my underarms and there’s nothing left now x

It depends. I got my face and underarms done and it cost about £50 per session. You only need one session per month and results are really quick x

A bottle of Tend Skin is anyone’s best friend for after hair removal, not cheap but so worth it!

I got waxed a few years ago and vowed never again. Then last year I decided to try it again after discussing it with a friend who is in the beauty industry.

It actually wasn't bad. And I went back every 4-6 weeks to get done again. It did get easier each time.

My advice would be to definitely make sure you go somewhere decent and not just the cheapest.

Waxing - look at treatwell which carries reviews of salons.

Non strip (hard) wax is best for bikini area. Not as sore as strip wax which is usually used for larger areas like legs etc. My skin is quite sensitive and the hard wax is perfect for me. More expensive but definitely worth it if your pain threshold isn’t high.

Yes I used to go to West End Wax in Patrick but it’s closed down now. The owner Debbie still provides a waxing service from other premises near by. Not sure if that’s near you or not. But if you go on Treatwell etc then check that they use hard wax most say it in the descriptor.

I've not been anywhere that didn't use hot wax for bikini/intimate waxing. Think it's a standard thing but good to ask to be sure.

I use an epilator..it's not THAT painful..although it's not recommended for use on pubic mound or underarm.

Quick and easy to use in the home.

I wouldn’t let my beautician near my bikini line for a long time. Then we had a chat and she started by just doing bikini line. Each time she took a bit more off. Now I’m a Hollywood everytime!

I’ve been using same beautician for about 14 years so I’m comfortable and relaxed with her which I think helps. She uses hard wax on the inner bits.
