What DIY Job Could You Handle

Sorry not the DIY question you were thinking

Out of all the building trades, joiner, brickie, plumber, painter, electrician etc... what one can or could you handle doing yourself even if it's not your trade.

Question to anyone.

If by DIY you mean Destroy It Yourself, then all of them.

Did an electrician course back in the day but never took it up as a profession.

When I came out of the Navy and the kitchens I worked for a short while in a garage as a body builder/panel beater so handy that way.

Also until recently I did ALL DIY in my own house and some of the minor ones at work too.

So have done a bit of joinery, plumbing, painting & decorating, plastering etc

Nowadays my landlord gets someone else to do it. Only DIY I do is get up and switch the telly on, grandweans lost the remote

Absolutely none. Even changing a lightbulb stresses me out. Have to pay tradesmen for everything I want done. I do have good interior design ideas I just need to pay people to implement them. It’s the only Domme side I have

I do pretty much all the DIY in my house.

As a profession though, electrician is what I'd stick to, or maybe carpentry.

Had my own handyman business for a while so done quite a bit from renovating a complete flat, fitted 3 new kitchens and loads of complete landscape jobs with decking. Small DIY jobs would never phase me.

As kola said earlier fuses boxes , boilers and kitchen worktops are the main jobs that should be left to professionals.

If you excuse the pun I'm a bit of a tool 'freak'. If i do a job and dont have the correct tools , i go out and buy it so if i ever do it again i will have the correct tools. Needless to say i have a very large shed fully equiped.

Over there

I've rebuilt a place from bare walls and no roof. Plumber did the gas, I got some roofers in for speed as it was winter. Plasterer because I can't. Other than that I did it all - floors replaced, new windows, full rewire, kitchen, bathroom, second fix and decorate. Oh, and someone to fit carpet although I did tiles and wooden floor.

I have a skill for coordinating works and dealing with emergencies, even got paid for it for years

Doing actual works... Would love to be able to sort plumbing, basic electrics and joinery but I'm fairly useless. W has taken down walls and put in built in wardrobes but I really should have married a sparky or a joiner with the list I have in this house

I'm a tradesperson at a certain trade and can do most others. Buy flats or houses every so often and do them up for resale so I can get by on my own

I'm an electrician, and I do everything in my own house my self.

Fitted kitchen

Re-sheeted ceilings

Knocked down walls

Built new partition walls

Skirting, facings and dado rails

All plumbing heating and gas

All painting and wall papering

Converted the attic

The list goes on...

I got my uncle to do the double glazing and new external doors though

I tend to stick to my own trade out of the house, but I do the plumbing bit when replacing faulty showers.

As for cars.... Gear box rebuild, head gasket replacements, brake drums, disks, pads and shoes, changing head units before the new standard plugs took the fun out of it,

Still to try welding, would love to play with some metal

Never had a fear of trying anything, and got away with it all... Hahaha

I can do everything.

Got to - I can't find any tradesperson who has a clue - no offence - there must be some good ones out there but they are a tiny minority. All I hear is horror stories from friends.

Only job I'll get done is plastering - I don't do enough of it to get good at it.

My DIY skills are limited tbh. I can change light fitments plug sockets, paint walls, some light joinery and plumbing. But my main focus is automotive.

Owning your own small bodyshop, you tend to hate DIY because it's so similar to DIY.

Painting cars, filling holes, replacing panels and polishing.

When you get home, I want to relax. Not DIY lol x

Being a joiner to trade I'll give just about anything(and anyone) a try , apart from plastering as I just never know when to stop playing with it .

Over the years I've done a large variety of projects from building bridges and log cabins to high end restaurants and night clubs in London, even built a couple of campervan and a dungeon which was fun ??
