Do you ever see a thread that makes you think I have really strong opinions on this but just can't be bothered getting in amongst the drama?
I do, all the time! I often have to bite my tongue really hard as my real life is very serious as it is and that's not what I come on here for!

Nah, if it's not someone in real life - like in actual company - that's saying crazy shit, I think you can be forgiven for just not getting involved at all. But it's hard to suppress the instinct and remember why you're here sometimes!

I see plenty that provokes a reaction from me. But I sometimes like to wait and see how a thread pans out....other people often say what I wanted to say in a more articulate way.

The problem is that some people don't have the ability to speak out without being rude or bad mannered. You can express your opinion without being disrespectful to others, a lesson some need to learn. |

But it's a forum, if someone raises a topic why not give your opinion? Some topics by their nature will get heated. We don't all have to be Mary Poppins and I find the notion that "nobody should judge anyone else" a bit naive really. Because we all judge, every day. |

Nah, if it's not someone in real life - like in actual company - that's saying crazy shit, I think you can be forgiven for just not getting involved at all. But it's hard to suppress the instinct and remember why you're here sometimes!

We are supposed to be here for fun and laughs and fun and use the forums for interests, passing time etc...
There are people who actually admit to making threads lose it. There are strong opinionated people who don't take no for an answer and there are people who are not liked where others don't actually look at their full post whether its positive of not, they just cant help but make comments against them.
This is one of the reason why many don't post on the forum in fear they might get caught up in it or if they look as if they take a side they will get hassle.
But and a big BUT, the majority of people are great and most of the ones who don't post, I'm sure, are the same and can probably make the forums more enjoyable than they are now. 
Me personally, have I been wrong in the past, yes.
Have I changed my mind due to peoples posts on a subject with debate, yes
Are the forums interesting at times, yes, very much so.  |

As the OP Asks about keeping strum even though you have a strong opinion on the matter.
It shouldn't really happen, everyone should feel comfortable enough to post on a thread and enjoy the experiences of replies and debate etc...

I do try and make my posts now more in-depth so there is no way it can be misconstrued obviously except by ones who do not like me but hey shit happens.
Sometimes I try to make sure I'm not replying to something because of my dislike of that person. I feel I always want to just comment due the posts objective/subject/interest etc.. and debate on such and have my opinion shared and let people agree with it or not |

I feel I preview to make sure my view is conveyed in the way it is intended so there isn't a problem that is can be conveyed any differently than intended and yes, spelling mistakes, I've learned that a lot, especially when posting from my phone
The reason why I don't type the first thing in my head is sometimes it doesn't come across as intended thus as I say I put things more indpeth now.
We are all opinionated to a certain extent, some more than others but if we can all look into it more and figure out why the other is coming to their views then it makes for a good debate. |

I'm not going to comment on this thread lol. Seriously though I don't comment much anyway and if I do see some people going at it and sniping with each other, then I just scroll on by. Leave them to it as it will fizzle out at some point anyway. I've noticed when this happens everyone else goes quiet on the thread and it's left to the people sniping at each other back and forth. Has anyone else noticed this? x |

I’m not a regular poster but do read the forums a lot, and I read a lot this past week and was surprised by some of it. I have to admit it has made me a bit more reluctant to post, I certainly would be very wary about starting a thread |

I was on here 5 or 6 years ago and constantly posted in forums and made lots of friends even had a few forum posts made about me. This time I have refrained from posting as much as o used to get lots of abuse so just jump in and out now |

The repeat offenders should be given warnings or after a certain number of times have their account suspended. Maybe site admin should think of this for the future as it's ruining it for everyone else on here x |

Unfortunately there are many pish posts, people reply to them. If they are pish don't add to it, let it end. Why do people comment with negative and or personal if the post is pish either they cant help themselves or don't like that person and want to put them down in anyway. Thankfully there's more better posts than pish on here.
I think its best, some may disagree, but if any of us don't like someone, just try and avoid the post unless there is a post/subject that you feel strongly about, comment about that post and no try to be negative to that person.
I have replied to certain ones, infact its usually the same people after they started making personal comments to me and you see others doing the same to other people. I admit I've been wrong with replying to certain ones and now try my best to no comment and just avoid and watch the post unfold.
When anyone tries and makes it personal they are either just going to (usually intentionally) ruin the post or in a debate with someone they don't like they have nothing concrete to say in regards to that post. (and I'm talking general as in us all).
Imagine making a valid point on something and then ruin it but making a snide or snipe comment as many do, it just negates the original good comment about the subject/post etc..
Anyways that's my view of the subject and obviously only my view and I don't expect anyone to follow what I think is best, just do their own thing and hopefully the forum is a better place for it |

I am generally a part time lurker. If I’m on my phone I generally don’t wade in to some of the controversial or posts that are designed to rile up the general FAB forumites.
If I am on my phone I find it hard to rant without typos, whereas on my laptop any topic is game for me comment on.

Maybe if you want to say something and have an opinion you should have more conviction in your opinion and just voice it? Or else ask yourself did you really feel like you have something worth saying? I think anyone who doesn't contribute to a debate either doesn't have an opinion which differs from one which has already been aired, doesn't know enough about the subject and hence doesn't want to come across that way or else simply doesn't care enough to contribute to that particular discussion. And all of those are justifiable and ok but other reason given is merely an excuse.
There are plenty of threads I read here which bore the pants of me, they reach 100 odd posts about absolutely nothing with the same people posting floral gibberish. Personally that ruins it for me, but everyone is different.
I'd suggest that everyone just posts on the forum threads they feel they have something to contribute to. Some people feel they need to comment on absolutely every thread going. And we all know empty vessels make most noise! |
