"Whats ghosting ?
People just stop talking to you as if they’ve disappeared of the face of the eart.....
I thought that was called ‘normal’ "
I thought you were calling ME normal then
Phew.
It is just part of life I’m afraid. People don’t know how to say no for fear of upsetting someone. Also, when people say no they’ve often been harassed afterwards for saying no.

"The most annoying thing on here!
A simple "after chatting I'm no longer interested" or even just block someone if you really want. "
Yip I find it really annoying and pretty childish. I've been ghosted by a fb from here. A simple "I'm no longer interested" would have been nice. Just need to get on with it I guess but it's too easy to act like an arse these days with so much technology. |

So lets say someone found out that the person they had been chatting to was really a nasty person and not worth another second of there time so stopped messaging, that would surely in your eyes not constitute a rude person.
Thats probably the "depending on the context" part of your original opinion i suppose. |

Let me clear up your apparent confusion. I said I had been ghosted in real life.
I obviously won't be sharing the details.
I think it's something that those with poor communication skills do.

Sometimes disappearing without comment is easy to figure out.
If you send 3 or 4 messages then a pic and you don't hear back after the pic then it means you've come across a shallow person who clearly doesn't like your face/body and theyve legged it.
The ones I don't get are the ones you chat to seemingly quite happily with then after an innocuous message like "hope you had a good day at work, do you fancy chatting some more" and the. It goes quiet. You then see them online later on and ask how they are getting on, you see your message is read but no reply.
You then start thinking, is it worth another message or are you just being a pest now?
If the other party would just say "sorry, not interested anymore" or "hey, busy right now but can chat at the weekend" then surely that would be a far more civil way to interact with a fellow human being?
Also. What's with all the hostility on the thread now? Can't we all just be friends (with or without benefits) |

"...think I'd rather someone just slipped off quietly than be blocked out of the blue or told I liked you until you talked ha!"
I can see the temptation in that, but to have folk just stop replying is, at best, confusing. Leaves you wondering if it was something you said that was somehow offensive. Especially with the sudden block.
There you are, happily chatting away then the next time you log on you're blocked. Total wtf moment. If someone you were friendly with in real life said something you didn't like you'd say something about it and any misunderstanding would be cleared up. On here it just seems to be overreaction city. |

Call me shallow all you like as if i dont fancy someone sure as hell I'm not going to have sex with them.
What I said was that sometimes it easier than to get the but why not reply to your no thank you reply or if you just meet for coffee you will like me
Or i look way younger or better looking in the flesh.
The list goes on.
Yeah maybe ghosting isn't the best way but sometimes it's simpler
I hate blocking for the sake of it
So if your ghosted...males and females ..just take it as a their not interested. |

Personally I'd agree with you but it's quite common to hear from, especially females, who have said thanks but no thank politely and then got abuse. So it's understandable that quite a lot might just eventually stop chatting and leave the contacting.
No one should take it personal just means your not for them or someone more interesting caught their eye or personal shit got in the way. It's just the way of fab
We should all just deal with it and get on. |

If the message is fancy a fuck or some other stupid message, ignoring is perfectly acceptable, but if i guy gas sent a respectful message and clearly read your profile and messaged accordingly then a simple 'sry your not my type' is only manners. Not replying to a thought out message is just rude imo. If however the guy replys with why am i not your type or any other plz explain type message THEN ignoring, blocking or ghosting or telling him to feck off is perfectly acceptable. Imo. Xx |

I wouldn't say that ghosting devil
Thats just not replying to a message
Ghosting to me is engaging in a conversation back and forth then suddenly going AWOL or blocking them.
Suppose everyone's take on ghosting is different. |

I'm seeing ghosting is just starting messages with someone and say its going Ok, nothing bad just good general chat on here and then say after 5th message the other person just stops.
That's what I take is ghosting.
if its messaging, someone, getting on ad messaging the next day, I don't see that as ghosting but id like to think that if not for them they'd let me or you know.
Suppose ghosting can be viewed a few different ways on here
Sorry OP if I've got your terminology of ghosting wrong |

Not everyone takes the sorry your not my type with the good grace they should. When I get them I ask if they want to keep chatting, after all you can still have a laugh and a joke, maybe even more so when you know sex is off the table. If they say no then that's the end of it |

Very interesting topic and it seems to be answered from two very different dynamics ,Frin the make point of view it seems no reply from first point of contact or teinthree messages then a halt , from what female friends tell me , most men , me included have absolutely no idea the volume of mail most of the ladies receive , and to be honest if I was getting dozens of ladies mailing me daily , ( don’t get that annually) a few things are likely to happen , 1 lose track completely and the male ego goes into afterburner or 2 be chatting nicely and someone mails you , floats your boat and yiu spend the forthcoming time messaging them or wanting them to message, while ghosting does exist , just dust yourself down and move along , I’ve doiken to many ladies in forum who blew me out , never replied to first message or said it’s thanks but no thanks , different strokes different folks , Remember if you never been knocked back ? You’ve never hit on anyone |

"Very interesting topic and it seems to be answered from two very different dynamics ,From the male point of view it seems no reply from first point of contact or two or three messages then a halt , from what female friends tell me , most men , me included have absolutely no idea the volume of mail most of the ladies receive , and to be honest if I was getting dozens of ladies mailing me daily , ( don’t get that annually) a few things are likely to happen , 1 lose track completely and the male ego goes into afterburner or 2 be chatting nicely and someone mails you , floats your boat and you spend the forthcoming time messaging them or wanting them to message,
It’s human nature so while ghosting does exist , it’s not always down to bad manners, just dust yourself down and move along , I’ve spoken to many ladies in forum who blew me out , never replied to first message or said thanks but no thanks , been blown out before and will again, but keep punching upwards , it can and will pay off, it’s different strokes for different folks as that great American Philosopher Gary Coleman said
Remember if you never been knocked back ? You’ve never hit on anyone "

"Sometimes disappearing without comment is easy to figure out.
Can't we all just be friends (with or without benefits) " here here. Big thumbs from me. Just tell the truth. And that's that. |

"Call me shallow all you like as if i dont fancy someone sure as hell I'm not going to have sex with them.
Yup, I just hate not knowing. Even if you told me I’m the ugliest fuck, I’d be like ok fair do’s. Lol I'm sure your not but as I said take a no reply as a not interested and don't give it another thought.
Way more things in life to be stressing over lol
If the message is fancy a fuck or some other stupid message, ignoring is perfectly acceptable, but if i guy gas sent a respectful message and clearly read your profile and messaged accordingly then a simple 'sry your not my type' is only manners. Not replying to a thought out message is just rude imo. If however the guy replys with why am i not your type or any other plz explain type message THEN ignoring, blocking or ghosting or telling him to feck off is perfectly acceptable. Imo. Xx" think wee guys forget the amount of msgs woman get. Be hard to reply to then all. |

" which is equally wrong and that person did that did apologise , but to pass time ? May not be accurate but I see why that can be construed as such |
